Past lives and foreign languages (merged)

Chinita said:
Languages have always been sort of weird for me. In this life I was born in and grew up in the United States but my mother spoke to me most of the time in Thai, so English isn't really a "motherly" language, I guess. I've never been fond of English; even though I'm a writer I find it harsh, confusing, and without strict rules or logic.
I picked up German and Spanish very easily (Spanish especially) because my most recent lives were in places where I spoke those languages and I find them both melodic and comforting (seriously, no one appreciates German enough), and even though I never got the opportunity to learn them in school Dutch and Russian always sounded comforting to me as well. I attribute those to past lives as well.

I wasn't actually supposed to learn Spanish. My parents were very opposed to it, but I was put into the class by accident and when I started learning it it was like a part of me woke up. Now years later I sometimes think in Spanish, respond to people in Spanish if it's something short and I don't think about it, and oddly when I get really tired I sometimes slip into some sort of a weird Argentine-ish accent. Maybe I speak too many languages and growing up speaking both Thai and English had an effect on how my mouth felt most comfortable moving during speech, but still, it doesn't seem normal and I wonder if anyone else here has ever started talking in an accent that matches a language they spoke in another life when they were tired or just "out of it". . .
I envy you. I never have had the opportunity to really get good at a second language.. I would LOVE to learn one that 'awoke' something within me concerning past lives..Wow. VERY envious!

That's an interesting question, niamh! I'd also love to hear how it is for other people! Normally I don't hear anyone speaking in another language in a memory, I just know what they're saying without actually hearing the words. It's hard to explain, but it's like when you're thinking. Or am I the only person in the world who doesn't usually think in words? ;)
I have, however, heard past-life selves or other people in my memories, speak in a language I don't speak, but it's only happened three times. The first two times I heard Jan van Leyden, a person I knew in my Münster Anabaptist life, speak in Dutch, and the other was when I heard a a past-life self of mine almost a century later, who was Dutch, speak. He only said two words, though, namely "Witte Leeuw" ("White Lion"). I posted about it when it happened, no need to repeat it all here ;)
I had no trouble understanding them, but that's probably no wonder, since German is my native language and Dutch and German are very close. I also understand Dutch in this life, but I still need to work a lot at being able to speak it

But these three incidents were the only ones so far. Has it ever happened to you, niamh?
I recently tried to do a PLR hypnosis video online and I was a 38 year old Native American man who was married and had two kids. I was in a battle with white men with guns and after I heard the guns, I heard my tribe make a battle cry and the horses neighing. Soon after I felt faint pain in my left side under my ribs a little bit. Even though the pain was very faint, it was like I got shot. I had (and still have) a fear of guns pointed at me. The weird thing was, when my wife greeted me in the Native American language, I felt like I heard the language somewhere but I couldn’t understand her. I kept getting distracted while trying the video so I couldn’t really concentrate. Do you know if it’s possible for someone to not understand a language that a past life has spoken? I knew she was greeting me, but I just couldn’t understand what she was saying. I don’t know anything about any Native American language but I do know that ever since I was little, I’ve always been fascinated and I recently found out that I actually have a lot in common (personality wise) with Indians including my beliefs.

Personally, yes I do know this feeling. I was German in my last lifetime before this one, yet some 'advanced German' is almost jibberish to me. but what makes this even more awkward for me is that if I go to watch a German TV show where the native language is German, I "feel" I understand every word subconsciously. Consciously sometimes my mind will go o_O

Czech and Latvian are others too, I learned both a basic knowledge of Czech while I lived in Prague in that lifetime yet I also had a lifetime in Czechoslovakia around the time of St Wenceslas but some of the language is foreign to me consciously too. I had basic Latvian language skills too whist imprisoned in Ghetto Riga, but any 'advanced Latvian' is foreign to me too in this lifetime.

IMO, subconsciously you knew the Native American language, yet your conscious mind could not decipher the words. Indigenous people of the lands are very spiritual, in particularity the bands of Sioux Indians ( the Lakota people are one of the three main Sioux tribes). There's also your Cherokee Indians, Apaches and many more. If you can find out what tribe you were in this may lead to a better understanding of the language. Are there any states in the US that you have a fondness for?

My daughter speaks words no one gets but it does sound like a language too when she is suddenly awoken, not until reading this I've come to think maybe it is a real language and from past life :)

Well currently it’s Alabama (my home state) and California. I tried researching some tribes that could’ve been in my city and I saw a picture of Native American tribes in Hamilton Alabama and it showed this picture. The tepees in the picture look exactly like the one I saw in my past life. Basically anywhere anything Native American is, I feel like I HAVE to see it. I don’t know how to find out what tribe I was in unfortunately. Is there anything I can do to go back to the same past life I viewed to know what tribe?

That sounds really interesting! Maybe it’s a language not really spoken anymore or something :D

It sounds like you could’ve been Latin in your past life. It would be really interesting speaking a different language in a dream! :)
Thanks, the negative thing is that I don't know how to do it outside the dream, ha ha...my daughter has always now and then started to express herself in what reminds me as being in an Italian way, and I mean that as a compliment, I don't really know how to explain it except to say it is how she expresses herself with her hands and arms, and how she announce words, express herself. Funny thing is I nor her father or really anyone has not exposed her to the Italian way of talking or expressing herself, but I have memories of being an Italian girl in my most recent past life and if I have identified the right one I think she was in my past life as an Italian too :) (I have never mentioned to her that I believe I was an Italian in a past life).

I think I've dreamed in latin but I don't speak the language, bizarre.

On the flip side, I did speak vulgar Latin in another life, but when I saw it in a dream, everything was in English for some reason. Two years of Latin classes and I dreamt in English lol.

I am always of the impression that the lives that need healing or have something unresolved makes themselves appear. I've had people tell me that I look like Janis Joplin reincarnated, but if I was Janis, I think I would have known because she would have had a lot to heal from that lifetime. So perhaps there is not a way to "tell" which tribe you were in and it might be a case of just plain elimination. Have you seen the movie 'Dances with Wolves' ? That is a totally imo, an awesome movie. It's very much native american. Perhaps you could watch that and see if that triggers anything?

The Lakota (Sioux) people are in mainly North/South Dakota. Apart from those it is hard to define just exactly where the main other tribes are ( I even googled it but I couldn't work it out).

Seriously though, check out the movie I suggested. There are three languages in it two of which are Native American - Lakota and Pawnee.

I will definitely watch that movie! Thank you so much for the help! :D

Hmm that is really interesting. I’ve heard that some kids are able to tell who they were in their last life. She could be doing something similar to that by the sounds of it. It would be fascinating if you and your daughter were both Italian in a past life during the same lifetime!

Lol! That’s funny XD. Maybe it’s because since you took Latin, you can understand it as if someone was talking to you in English? I honestly have no clue, but that is really fascinating!

What I learned in school was Classical Latin, which is quite different than the Vulgar Latin everyday people like myself would have used. Tbh I didn't do all that well in Latin class.

If someone was speaking Vulgar Latin to me, I probably wouldn't understand them very well. Could be different in a dream, of course.

In my dreams I can speak US English. I try to remember what I said and then write the phrases in translators, discovering that the phrases meant what I thought in the dream. Lol.

In other dreams I have seen myself speaking Russian, British English, French. When I wake up in the morning, I try to speak those languages but I cannot. A week ago I went to a library and found some books in Russian. Now I am Latin American, so I feel that Russian is very difficult to understand, however, I always felt that I spoke that language at some point. I have always been struck by that specific language, but yes, in dreams or specific situations, I am able to speak other languages fluently.
I found that what I say in my dreams are not random words, but native phrases.

It's interesting.

Yeah that makes sense. I took a Latin class as well and I didn’t do well in it. It was online since we don’t have it at school but forming sentences was so hard for me.

Wow. I would love to be you, even for just a day lol. That is incredible speaking so many different languages in dreams. Maybe you were Russian in your past life, and British and French since you spoke those in your dream as well. Have you ever wrote them down to see if a pattern was forming?

Yes, I was Russian, French and British in many past lives.

When I turned seven, my mother gave me a book of poems by a Russian poet. God, I couldn't understand what was written, but I thought, Why can't I understand this book if I remember this language? Russian was like a secret code to me. Now I understand some words and I understand that it is not a secret code, just a language that I spoke in some past lives. hahaha.

That is very interesting! I wish stuff like that happened to me lol. I just know that ever since I was little, I’ve always be fascinated by dinosaurs, sharks, anything mythical/supernatural/mythological, and Native Americans :) for some reason I’m also fascinated by Peter Pan. I don’t know why I’m so fascinated by Peter but oh well lol. I’m starting to wonder if there was anything that happened when I was little that I don’t know about  o_O
