16th Century Italy

I have memories from one existence that I am curious to know if anyone could shed some light on, or might even have a starting point for me to look for more information at. And, strangely, I don't know how she died.

This lifetime was that of a woman who lived in Italy. She went by the name Corvina Serovene (or Serofene), though I'm uncertain whether that was her actual name or a nickname she favored. I've never been able to figure out an exact location, and she doesn't seem to "mention" where she was located. She was born somewhere around 1524 (or 1518), though she doesn't seem to have a good grasp on years or geography. She was married to a drunkard, had three kids, none of which she cared much for or about. She was heavily involved with a tavern/pub of sorts that was owned by her family. The memories she has of it include very clear memories of thick, wooden pillars inside of the building and a surprising amount of heat.

The memory I have which stands out takes place on a very clear night, somewhere a fair distance from the town she lived in. There is a large break in forest, an open field that's half-brown. In an area that has been cleared out, there are two very massive dead trees being used as seating laid out in a pattern like this: / \ with a large fire going between them, something cooking over coals further off to the side. There's a wagon or cart of some sort to the left-hand side of the inverted v. People are drinking, talking, eating, laughing. It's clearly a good evening and something good has happened and they're expecting something else to go well shortly.

Corvina is sitting on a log, talking with a woman beside her. She feels hopeful, but she isn't as excited or happy as the other people around her, though her thoughts are fairly mundane. She gets to her feet and walks over to an individual she calls "the captain." The Captain is a tall, thin man with unusual facial features. Charismatic, friendly but reserved. I've never felt respect as an emotion, really, except in this particular memory. She had a very powerful, strong feeling of trust in the Captain, one that I've never felt the like of.

Corvina and the Captain talk for a few moments over the plans for the evening, though I don't recall the exact details. She begins to feel slightly tense as the Captain draws her attention to someone sitting on one of the logs by the fire. Most of the people there are fairly darkly complected, or have dark hair and dark eyes. This person is a stranger with blond hair and a broken nose. While a lot of the men have knifes of some sort with them, the blond stranger appears to have a sword. Corvina finds him unfriendly and threatening, and she isn't comfortable with his presence.

Still, at the Captain's request, Corvina walks over and greets the stranger and tells him that he needs to come with them. The stranger gets up and he, Corvina and the Captain begin to walk along a rough dirt road, away from the party.

Her memory cuts out there. The mystery for me is what happened between that small section of memory, which lasts only about seven or eight minutes, and what happens next. I have another memory from what she indicates is later in the same evening, in an area close to (but not exactly in) that clearing, and something has clearly gone very, very wrong. She and the Captain are both in a wooded area. He's leaning against a tree, but she's standing There is blood on her hands, on her dress, and she's very shaken. The Captain is yelling and shouting and cursing and there's the general sense that most of the people who were in the clearing earlier that evening are dead. No explanation of what has happened, what the cause was or what they were doing in the mean time. The menacing stranger is not with them.

I really wish I could find out more about her, "the Captain" and the events of the evening, but I'm just at a loss even where to start looking.

FindingFreedom, really interesting thread and experience you've posted! I've had a life as well, in 16th Century Italy. It was a very tumultuous and very care-free, do-as-I-want life. I hurt quite a few people and even the woman in that life whom I loved passionately but was not my own wife, but mistress.

I'd love to hear more about your experiences and the things you have seen! Thanks again for sharing!

What vivid memories! Do you feel that Corvina and the Captain had anything to do with the demise of the young man? What was the motive? Were you Corvina or someone else? Have you met any of these people in this current life? Is there any karma to be worked out?

We'll see if there any people in the forum familiar with Italian History. You can also start looking online. Keep in mind that only the wealthy were educated then. The "common" people were mostly illiterate. They didn't know anything about geography, how to read or write, etc. Many did not even know who the current Pope was. Before about 1870 Italy was made up of "City States" that were not united in one large country.

Hi FindingFreedom

Welcome to the forum.

That's a very detailed memory you have there.

The first thing with something like this is usually to try to get some more information via your memories. Otherwise, it's an uphill battle trying to trace historical evidence, especially for people who may not have been very prominent and may not have left much trace.

Have you experimented with any meditation techniques to recover more? There is all kinds of good information in the FAQ section.
