8 year old at The Killing Fields

After reading a chapter book at bedtime about a mouse and time machine I asked my very immature 8 year old son if he could go backwards or forwards in time then where would he go?
He replied "to the Killing Fields"
Having no idea what he was talking about I asked WHY?
He said in a very serious and calm voice "that's where I died when I was 24. I had black hair. I used to play football but then I joined the army and went to war"

He has never seen a movie, news or book about this. He is a very immature 8 year old and acts more like a 5 year old.
This was so not like him and very strange.

Now wondering what I should do with this info and if I should delve deeper or not? I just googled the killing fields and millions died there.

You have come to the right place! We get quite a lot of this kind of thing in here. I have moved your thread to the 'Children's past lives' section, rather than the general 'Past lives' area, as it is about your child.


Others will no doubt have lots of advice for you, but for now, just take his word for it. Assume he is not making it up, but is just telling you the truth. Let him talk about it if he wants, without pushing him. It's a lot to take in, but this kind of thing is actually much more common than you might think.

This post is very interesting. I just wanted to add that it's possible your son may have been an American victim of the Khmer Rouge. It's a very unpleasant topic, but one that ties in with your son's statements. During the Vietnam war, much of the violence spilled over the border into Cambodia. The U.S. Often conducted bombing raids on Vietcong supply routes through northern Cambodia, however these raids were carried out rather recklessly, and many rural Cambodian civilians became casualties of the attacks. The leader of the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot and his supporters, were at the time hiding out in jungles of northern Cambodia and he arguably used the United States' recklessness as propaganda to disenchant people of western Capitalistic ideals and to instead join his Communist regime. Many of his followers were uneducated rural teens who bought into this idea and the Khmer Rouge's numbers began to swell.


At the end of the Vietnam War, in 1975, Cambodia Pol Pot and his regime seized control of Phnom Penh and subsequently Cambodia itself. He immidiately set in motion his plan of turning the country into a model agrarian society that would be cut off from the outside world. This immidiately meant the removal of all intellectuals, general opposition, and foreign influences. This would have made someone like an American soldier in Cambodia a target. It could have been that your son was an American soldier, most likely involved in Vietnam, who was in Cambodia after the war and got unfortunately mixed up in the conflict. I can't find any record of known American serviceman who were victims of the regime, but that doesn't necessarily mean it didn't happen as the regime executed many. And while many of the victims were documented, many were not. I want to emphasize that this is only a speculation, it's not finding a piece of the puzzle, but making one that could fit. Still it's pretty remarkable that your son knew something of it, seeing as I had no idea what the Khmer Rouge was until I was a senior in high school

Welcome to the forum. Bedtime when they are sleepy is when they most often talk about past life memories. Start a journal and write all of this down. He will forget. In fact, since he was sleepy he may not even remember telling you that. When he talks about these things you can ask him open-ended questions. He may tell you more. Black hair would be normal for an Asian life. Football is probably what we in the U.S. and Canada call soccer. Have you read any books about reincarnation? Carol Bowman wrote one called "Children's Past Lives".

Hi Kindle, no you don't have to. You may look into it if you want, but no you don't have to. Our soul is a fractile of the metaphysical energy that flows in the entire Universe. That energy is God's consciousness. More often than not, our soul take an imprint of the previous container, previous body. When we die a tragic death, or when we die w/ unfinished business. Imprints are carried on to continue the array of the ever expanding spiral, the Universe, the life cycle, the intricate arrangement of matter and energy w/c is God's body.
