well thinking along these lines might have something in it?, in the past, rulers and kings etc, used to offer there soul to the demon abigor, who was is a great duke of hell, rulings 60 legions of demons, it was said that in exchange for your soul he will give you great secrets of how to win battles an conquer, maybe this could have taken place as the dark practices?
I'm personally not a great believer in any particular religion, past or present. After all, there have been so many in the history of the world. However, historically speaking, when Christianity was introduced to Europe, some time after about 300-400 AD onwards, the 'old religions' were all classified as 'works of the devil'. The old gods were rebranded as 'demons', old beliefs considered superstition and 'old wives tales' or worse. Any practice that did not conform to the new Christianity was either absorbed into Christianity or outlawed and stamped out. People who persisted in non-conformity were punished for it, often very harshly. So, some of the older religions had to be practised in secret and came to be considered 'dark arts', demonic and what have you. Obviously a lot of nonsense has been written about them by various people ever since, often based on the works of monks whose job it was to 'chronicle' the old beliefs, and add their 'spin' to them as demonic. Medieval 'propaganda' if you like.
Following the fall of the Roman Empire, there was a period of great chaos as various warlords rushed to fill the power vacuum left by the departure of the Romans. It went on for hundreds of years. Many little 'kingdoms' rose and fell quite quickly as the power struggles between various groups raged. So, I can imagine that a warlord, a follower of the old religion, or even a bandit, would possibly call on the old gods to help them in battle? I also note that Abigor is usually depicted as a knight on horseback, like the drawings you were doing, so there could be some connection, if you were worshippers / followers of 'Abigor'?
Something like this would sort of fit with the bit you mentioned about throwing a stone at a cross, wouldn't it?
...the other day i was just relaxing and i had an image come to me, i could only see my bare feet and the bottom of a long skirt, but i was walking up a grassy hill and the sun was hot, then at the top there was a huge wooden cross, i could feel the ruffness of the wood, then i walked away towards a stone path towards a town in the distance but before i went i picked stone and rocks of the floor and threw them at the cross...
Try the techniques above, take your time to do the relaxation part of it properly, and clear your mind of thoughts and expectations. Just be open and relaxed and things will tend to just float up by themselves, like the moment you described above. All these little things will likely start to make sense when you get a bit more. It is entirely possible that what you're feeling coming up has something to do with this rather wild political/social/cultural landscape and you will be able to find how it fits into history with a bit more digging.
..william page and louisa bowman...
Double-barrelled names like these didn't really come into style until the mid - late middle ages. People would take names from their occupations as in John the baker, Tom the smith and so on. If there were two Johns who were bakers, it would be John the baker, Tom's son or something like this ... As populations grew and more people lived in towns, it all got a bit too complicated, so it got simplified to John Baker, or Tom Johnson, or whatever.
I would say just note those down for now. They may have some meaning in relation to all this that is not yet apparent. They may have something to do with another life where the two of you were also together? Anything could be a clue.
