An Affinity for '40s Music...

First off, hello! I've recently joined this forum, because I've been curious about past life "phenomena" for a while now. And, I need a little help with my own.

Since I was a child, I have long held an interest, an affinity, with World War Two. Particularly the American side, more than the British (I'm English myself). I revelled in a school visit to an old wartime military base, when my friends were more interested in playing about, and I've long had a profound adoration for music from the era. Big-band songs mostly, the American tunes. At times of Remembrance, I've always believed it to be my military-family heritage that caused my respect and admiration for those who fought for their countries. But, I've always had a niggling doubt that there's something more there. Because, I was never close with my military-trained relatives, so I didn't gain the necessary influence from them. There must be something deeper going on...

Could it be a past-life connection? Are there any books or research points you would recommend to help me delve deeper?
 
Chances are that it is so as I and many others have learned this way, when ever there is something like this early on and it persists there is likely a connection.
 
Could be. My first step in analysis was to narrow down the time.

When does your interest start? Does it apruptly end at the end of WWII or right in the war? This could point to your death. Do you have a battle or a frontline that‘s the most interesting for you?

Do you have any weird habits or talents? Dreams?

Depending on who you were it could take longer to narrow it down. A regular soldier might be more difficult then in my case, an infamous politician, especially if you died young in the war and haven‘t left wife and children whose names you could remember.
 
I don't believe I was a soldier in the war, but more so a relative. A gal left behind.

Last night, as I was drifting in and out of sleep, I kept getting '1951' in my head.

I wouldn't say I have weird talents, only a flair for the creative (fiction/art) - my maternal grandfather was something of an artist, but no-one else in my family has had a talent for creative writing. As for habits, as a child I used to spin on the spot a lot. It was simply put down to a problem I had with wax build-up in my ear. Even when that cleared, I continued to tilt my head to the right and spin on the spot until I was dizzy. Until I just outgrew the habit. Rather embarrassing, really... :oops: I also used to bite my fingernails, but then who hasn't?

Another point I've picked up on recently; I don't know if it's at all connected, but - having said I write fiction - a lot of my stories seem to automatically take place in New York City. I've never been, but I seem to have a fascination with writing fiction that's set in the Big Apple.
 
1951 could mean plenty of things. Death, marriage, birth of a child.

Assuming you are not as fascinated with WW1, that could probably make you a 20s or 30s child.
