An aversion towards metal?

Red Night

Since I was little, I've always hated the feeling of metal on my skin. As a little kid I wouldn't even wear jeans because the metal of the button bothered me so much, and don't even get me started on jewelry. Rings, necklaces, even to this day I wouldn't even really consider putting them on (unless I got married). I can deal with watches, and that's about it.
Also, I always hated holding change when I was little because I hate the way it made my hands smell, but I don't know whether or not that's related to the above.

I was wondering if anybody else has ever felt this way towards metal? I believe it's past life related, but I could be wrong. Does anyone have an idea as to what could have happened to make me feel this way?

Thank you very much for your time and help! :)

Hello Red Night, I can say I share some of the same aversion to metal, although not to such extent. There are times when handling metal that I'll get chilled to the bone... we call it the heebie-jeebies... and I need to set it down, gives me the shivers thinking about it. Knives are of particular interest, I'm OK holding the handle but touching the blade creeps me out. I'm certain of its past life origins.

Hi Red Night. I share much of your feelings. I don't really like anything metal touching my skin. I've never worn any kind of jewelry and I don't wear a watch. I'm always uncomfortable handling any metal with a sharp edge on it. And don't get me started on needles. No tattoos or piercings for me, and if you want to give me a shot or draw blood you're going to have to tie me down to do it.

I do remember a couple lives ending at the edge of a blade and another being tortured with a piece of metal, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Yes Tman, the heebie-jeebies is a good way to describe it. :D

Now Red Night, I also pretty much share the same feelings as you and these others above. I also do not wear hardly any jewelry, no rings, no watch also. I refuse to wear something around my wrists like a watch for that drives me crazy! I do though wear a Bear Emblem necklace which is made out of plaster and not metal with a leather thong. Yes it is as Tinkerman said ... Heebie Jeebies!

There is also one other thing about me that goes along with this is how much do I dislike to such a Big Degree so much of this modern machinery. I have a real deep fear of modern machinery! I do not own or drive a car with walking, bicycling, or public transportation most of the time. In fact a few years ago, I purposely let my old driver's license expire! Also I try to avoid any escalators and elevators that I most possibly can with taking the stairs at every opportunity.

Most of the year am out in the deep wilds wandering and living with the land. As for myself, do know that a big part of this of who I am it seems comes from my Native American and Indigenous Peoples past lives. For what is it worth.

Thanks to everyone who replied! :) Of course, I'm still interested to hear what anyone else might have to say! :)

You're not the only one. ;)

A nurse had to hold me down while the other one took my blood when I was in the hospital.

I too dislike the feeling of metal on me, especially the cold ones, they give me the most heebie-jeebies. I don't wear a watch either, I would prefer a pocket watch if possible. But that's due to because I'm in a marching team.. And watches are banned during marching.

I join the club :)

I've always hated wearing jewellry, watches, etc. I don't have a problem with metal buttons, but the other stuff just feels so uncomfortable and unatural to me. I don't know if my aversion towards jewellry stems from my most recent past life where I was male, but I've just never wanted to wear it. I don't think it looks nice even. It's a bit of a problem, because it's usually such an easy gift for a girl just to give her a ring or a necklace. They can give it to me, but I won't wear it :)

How interesting there are so many people who feel this way!

I don't wear rings, bracelets or wristwatches, either. I had my ears pierced when I was a kid and almost immediately let them close up. Now that I think about it, I do suppose it has to do with the fact that the jewelry was made from metal, because in school I wore a "friendship bracelet" (made from threads) until it fell off. However, when I was very little (younger than eight years old), I also remember hating long-sleeved shirts and tight collars. I wonder if any of this has anything to do with being restrained with metal in a past life, or something.

I once had a college professor who was *so* adverse to metal he specifically instructed his students never to hand in assignments bound together with any kind of metal (paper clips, staples, etc.)

Now that's a really bad case of the metal heebie-jeebies.

How strange! Maybe it has something to do with feeling restrained, as someone mentioned? Having perhaps once been a shackled prisoner or something of the sort....

That's an interesting thought :)

Jody, I've worn non-metal bracelets and necklaces too when I was younger. I didn't have a problem with that at all. However, I've never ever wanted to have my ears pierced. Actually I'm quite repelled by piercings generally.

Although I've never felt the way you do towards metal, I have had several experiences with thorns, stickers, splinters, and poison darts that have brought me to believe that this may be PL related.

For the longest time I've been put-off by thorns, splinters, and watching anything that had poison darts in it. I've also always been fascinated with the Aztec civilization, their mythology and that is the main reason the "Road to El Dorado" movie has always been among my favorites.

These two things have always given me the impression I had an Aztec PL, and recently I found a website that had a list of punishments because I was looking up beheading in Ancient Greece. According to this website, in Aztec civilization unruly kids were punished by having thorns shoved into their skin. :freak:

I can see why I don't like thorns or splinters.

I do believe that what you are experiencing could also be PL related. As several others said, maybe you were restrained somehow in a PL? As Jody said, I as well do not like anything around my neck, and do not like tight collars either. The only type of thing I can remember involving my neck was being beheaded and then prior to being keelhauled, we had to wear a chain around our necks as prisoners. Having been a Middle Eastern slave in Rome, there is a possibility something like that was attached to my neck, but I don't remember it all that well.

Nothing here actually - I tend to like metal and plan to get one of my Finnish coins made into a pendant. I also have a late '20s watch I have to see if I can have fixed...as I'd like to wear it.

If I would bring up a type of material that I don't like - it would be 'unnatural' stuff - for example, my clothing, I like it to be of cotton. My favorite materials are wool, silk, cotton, linen, and leather. But, I guess that's the 'old traditionalist' in me. Also - the buttons on my shirts I change to either coconut or wooden ones - mainly because of my 'vintage lifestyle'.
