An Unexplainable Memory

I've had this memory since I was about three. I remember asking my mom about it, and she just thought I was crazy. I was outside of my house and suddenly this red van pulled up and forced me inside of it. I remember being scared and I was screaming for my mother. I don't know what happened next, I think at one time I may have known, but now it's all a blur.

At the age of three, I didn't think much of it. It wasn't until I was much older and became acquainted with Reincarnation that I thought it might mean something. I try to remember more now, but it just won't come. My mom swears I was never near a red van until my stepfather purchased one when I was about eight.

Even today, every time I see a red van of similarities to the one in my memory I get the chills and feel like I'm being watched.

I know they say most past life memories are lost after age five. Knowing that, it makes me wish I could go back thirteen years and pay attention to those tidbits of information I could have known then, that I just can't remember now. I've constantly had dreams where I was in houses with that weren't mine, and I was the opposite gender. I don't know if these are just "normal" dreams per say, or if they're tidbits from a possible past life. I'm going to start paying closer attention now, in the past I've just kind of thought they were "weird" and moved on.

I've had a fascination with death itself since as long as I can remember. I remember when I was three I would sit in the car and hold my breath imagining what it would be like to no longer exist. It wasn't until after my sister was born that reincarnation truly began to fascinate me. She was born exactly three years and one day after my biological father's death. The last words I recall my father saying to me, "I'll be back." What he meant by that, I didn't understand, my mother shared with me later on that she believed he believed in Reincarnation, even though he was a Catholic.

With the new show "Past Life" on Fox, all these questions are returning to me. I had researched some Reincarnation stories a few years back online. I look forward to reading your stories, and maybe solving my own memory.

Every time I bring up Reincarnation or death itself in my house, everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. I look forward to being apart of this forum and sharing with others who share the same interest in Reincarnation.

Welcome to the forum Niclane,

I've constantly had dreams where I was in houses with that weren't mine, and I was the opposite gender. I don't know if these are just "normal" dreams per say, or if they're tidbits from a possible past life. I'm going to start paying closer attention now, in the past I've just kind of thought they were "weird" and moved on.
Past life dreams are different from the norm in that they:

  • Contain historical information.
  • Are unchanging in events and details.
  • Are outside of our range of experiences in this life.
  • Are highly emotional in content.
  • The “you” in the dream is not who you are now. You can be a different gender or race.

I'd recommend keeping a journal of your dreams (if you don't already). Sometimes a repeating pattern may emerge - and it's good for piecing information together, as well as good for validation purposes. :) You can read more about past life dreams here.

This memory is a little harder to define as being past life related - there are many things to consider, including the possibility that you had seen something on TV with a red van, or a news story with a kidnapped child. One must always look at all possible influences.

Again - I'd keep these kinds of memories or feelings in a journal. Write down as much information and as much detail as possible. If you choose to actively start exploring your past lives, it's always beneficial to have everything written down.

Hi Niclane, welcome to the forum :)

Aili already gave you some great tips and advice, so I'll just say thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings about your own possible past life, nobody here will think you are crazy ;)

Just curious, have you ever discussed reincarnation with your sister? Whether or not she was your biological father in her past life, I often wonder if believing reincarnation in this life, means that we will remember, or believe it in our future lives?

Hope you enjoy your time here.

Chris :)

I have not discussed reincarnation with my sister, though I've considered it. She's only ten now, and I feel like it might startle her or upset her. She gets upset easily when I bring up certain subjects, though she's always taken an interest to asking about my biological father. Maybe some day we'll be able to talk about it. :\ I don't know if she believes in reincarnation or has ever heard of it. She attended a Catholic school for two years. My mom doesn't like me to bring those topics up around her.

In subject to my own possible past life or lives when it comes to dreams. Often I've had repetitive dreams (in first person) where I'm climbing stairs to the top floor of a building, it's almost like I'm drunk. My head is spinning and I keep thinking I'm going to fall. In my waking hours I have no real fear of heights, I've been to the top of the Gateway Arch and on countless roller coasters with no fear. I've always enjoyed the "thrill" of roller coasters, when I was little I enjoyed being dizzy; I remember spinning around in circles just to get dizzy. Maybe I was a drunk in my past life. Currently, in this life, I'm very actively against drinking. I get nauseous when I smell alcohol.
