Another Past Life Story and Lots of Questions

Hi! I'm very new to this. I have done past life regression therapy before but truthfully it was an awkward situation and I couldn't relax enough to let go. I, like so many others on here have a strong emotional connection to a place and time that I have never been.

Without going into too many details I'd like to understand how to better connect with this thing that is happening. I am not an emotional person but when I read about the history of the era I weep and ache to go back. I genuinely miss the people, smells, food, and overall life that I believe I must have lived. I will get overwhelmingly emotional about it and it's almost like if I shut my eyes tight enough I can almost hear the noises of daily life during that time period.

I began to feel this way a few years back and I just assumed that it would go away. Truthfully I became so busy with academics (I'm a student) and thinking about my future that I didn't really have time to delve into the past. However now that I am going to Graduate school for medieval and early modern history I am compelled to re-examine this time period and the feelings have multiplied. It sounds ridiculous to be so connected and drawn to a time and place that I have no business being connected with.

I don't want to overwhelm anyone with specifics but I really just want some insight. It's not ruining my life or anything but it is mildly pressing.

Any advice would be so welcome! I don't know how to navigate this.

I know the problem. It happens to a lot of us and used to be extremely bad for me, too. We just miss home and frankly, that will never fully go away.
I think everyone has to find their own strategies to cope, but I will tell you what I do: I surround myself with both modern things and things from past life era (e.g. books, fans,..) so that my room feels a little bit like “home“ without me getting completely lost in the past.
I have also found that writing your memories down can be of great help. Takes some pressure off your soul.

Thank you so much! Coincidentally I have been doing a similar thing, in addition to compulsively researching about the time period.

My memories are so fuzzy and seem to quickly surface and just as quickly disappear. Today I was watching a documentary about the Jacobite uprising in Scotland in 1745 (a period and era that I feel ridiculously connected to) and became so overwhelmed with emotion that I had to pause the video and sort myself out, like I was grieving. I also had those "I want to go home" moments as a kid and I am relieved that I'm not the only one who felt this way and continues to feel this way.

Do you ever feel like your memories are just out of grasp? I can only briefly remember a certain smell or sound. Maybe very rarely I can remember a scene of the landscape but it recedes back into wherever it came from.

My memories are very detailed. Names, dates and events. In May this year I will be able to return “home“ for a week and visit all the old spots - I am hella excited!
I was born in London in 1791, so our lives were not tooo far apart, actually! :)

SOphie - have fun on your trip and keep us posted.

Newtothis, your emotional connection is a key component for you to be able to meditate or do another regression. Be sure to ask a question before you start, or write down some things that are important to you regarding the past.
Where is the root of your emotion. I hope this helps.

That is extremely helpful. I have no idea where to begin these meditations. Sometimes I get so emotional that memories come easier and when I learn about the history certain things spark these flashbacks. Where do I begin?

Also, is there a specific reason that people are connected to these time periods and people that they can scarcely remember? I have no reason to feel as I do but it's a compulsive pull and when I tried to ignore it strange coincidences would occur that led me back to it. I am just trying to understand why if everyone has lived past lives that only some of us are tasked with remembering it so virally and emotionally. If I asked any of my friends these questions they would think that I am crazy or being dramatic. But I have been experiencing this for my entire life and I am really at the point where I want to know why me? Why all of us on this forum?

Usually unfinished business
Back in march/april last year I was having a hard time seperating my WWI life from this one, all I wanted was to go back, I was killed april 9, 1917 and the centennial was approaching and every self regression took me back to that life

Now I'm pretty much in the same boat but it's my WW2 Airborne life that's giving me grief
I've logged both lives with most of what I can remember on this forum

If I had space I'd have a WWI Canadian uniform, WWII US Class A and jumpsuit, Vietnam USMC Dress Blues and fatigue hanging on my wall but alas I don't have the space
Just a strong desire to get that Class A uniform with all the details (I owned it already in this life from my re-enactment days) and a tanker jacket because it's what kept me warm in Bastogne

For you my advice would be try to find a good regression therapist, shop around, make sure that you feel comfortable about it and get a good vibe from that person, because you don't know what memories you uncover and the reason past lives usually bother us is because of trauma, unresolved issues or both
And keep a log/journal and write down every detail you can remember
They can be short like a first name, holding an object, something you wore, my log is full of short bits and pieces

I can do self regression because I've seen my fair share of war in this life, have someone that can read past lives without regression so can provide feedback (she doesn't give details unless I provide the breadcrumbs of something that I'm stuck with) and checks my log to see where I'm at, what I need to work on etc

Look up Tibetan Bells. They create specific sounds that create binaural beats that do help achieve an altered state quickly. Tibetan Bells, or tingas create perfect binaural beats. Tingas are two chimes connected by a string, each chime is tuned to its own frequency, and when the chimes are struck together, a binaural beat is formed. This type of brain synchronization brings the left and the right hemispheres of the brain together, and has been used by many cultures and for many centuries. The vibration, the sound enable a deep altered state. ;)
