Anyone else scared of the year 2020??

I haven't posted on here for a bit,but I'm back now.
I think this is something more people will be able to relate to,or at least I hope so.I'm already mind blown every time the year changes, but I've never really been stressed about it really. But I just came to the realization that in a couple of months it will be 2020,and I really wish I could stop the time at this point.Just realize that the start of the 1920s is going to be 100 years ago.It just doesn't make sense to meo_OThe 20s where a great time, and maybe at the time I was a child in my second Life (I became 16 in 1930)but I still can sort of feel the energy Comming from that era.Iam absolutely not excited for 2020,because I already hate what this world has become too in the last 19 years.I'm just absolutely not a fan of this century, and I never was. What makes this all worse is that I can't avoid 2020,since on every document I get at school there is always "school year 2019-2020" written at the front.Whenever I see it I just want to storm out and rip my eyes out so I never have to read it again (sounds pretty aggressive but that's just the sort of feeling I get lol)Knowing that the 2020s are about to happen makes me so sad and depressed, mostly because I still miss the 19th and 20th century really bad.I just can't imagine how much worse society and people and the whole world in general will becomeo_O

Hello,

I can totally understand your fear. I never celebrate New Year's eve because the simple fact of changing year is full of anxiety for me since childhood. I remember very well the 1993 (I was 10) New Year's eve when everyone was eating and celebrating. In my mind, I wish I had the power to stop time. I was so afraid of 1994 for no logical reasons at that time. Same from 1999 to 2000. Everyone was celebrating the new millenium and I went to bed. I remember thinking "nothing to celebrate : in the best case scenario everything will be the same, in the worst, the situations will be worst". On September 11th 2001 I understood that the second option became a reality. Since then, I never celebrate New Year's eve and I try not to think about the future in order to keep my sanity.
I don't know what means this fear of time :-/ I'm also much more comfortable in the 19th century even if things were not always pretty.

How about the opposite view? I'm kind of looking forward to 2020 even though it looks uncertain and more than a little scary. I'm curious to see what the future has in store for us. One way or another, we'll make it.

Having been a small child in a post 9/11 world, I have zero doubt of how horrible the world can be. One of my first clear memories in this life is Columbine.

Maybe it's my being able to recall more than one past life, but when I think of how much my past selves struggled, my being here in the 21st century almost feels like a gift. That's just my take, of course.

Like you I cringe at the thought of celebrating new year and I just don't understand how people can be so happy with a new year.I have to keep in the back of my mind that at the time people where also mindblown that it was 1920 and scared of what the future may bring. But still, looking back the 1920s gave more of a "friendly" and "fun" energy, and If I try to imagine how the 2020's will be I just can't imagine it being as good. But hey, fingers crossed maybe in 2020 the world will change in a good way, let's hopeo_OAlso same for me,even though things weren't always as easy back then (actually I didn't face as many problems as most people in the 19th century I was an upper class woman in my first life)but the 19th century seems more familiar and less scary in a way for me personally.Sadly a lot of people nowadays exaggerate about the 19th century as being evil and bad etc.Wich I think is weird since they weren't there and don't actually know what it Was like.Or they where but just can't remember.

Vogue and Coral, I share your feelings at the way the world's going, and also understand your fears. In my youth, most of my life was spent in absolute dread of the future, with the Cuban Missile Crisis and the nuclear threat very much at the forefront of our news. I really thought the world was going to end. All I can say, if it's of any comfort, is that the fear tends to diminish as you get older, even if the world is no safer a place. I think you just get used to it, and it doesn't completely dominate your life as time goes on. I'd love to be able to turn the clock back too. My early childhood was idyllic. I didn't have to think of anything unpleasant, and I only wish I could recapture that feeling. I'm sad for today's young people, with so many worries. It shouldn't be like that.
That's true.I do think that once the 2020s have already begun I will be less fearful, but I'll probably still feel like crap because I don't like this century and probably will live all through ito_OThe further we go away from the past century the more it seems to become a world I'm to not able to reach any longer, like it's doors have been closed and locked forever (okay this is starting to sound way to poëtic, but I hope you still get the point) Wouldn't it be fun to be able to visit time loops (like in the miss peregrine's peculiar children series)anytime you feel like taking a break from modern time and come back once you feel ok again? lol.It also seems to me that young people have way more stuff to worry about as time goes on.I'm a sophomore in highschool at the moment, and I find myself stressing over my future everyday, wondering if I'll ever reach the lifestyle I want or if I'll ever be truly happy in life, and what will happen to me in general

Deep down somewhere I definitely feel excited too and curious about what this new decade will bring us,but I guess fear is still the most prominent here.In my previous lives life defenitly wasn't always fun and easy, but looking back at everything,I can't help but miss a time that seems way more familiar and "safe" in a sense

Well, deep down I feel like there will be something not so great to happen in the world on the 2020's.
I just feel like something is going to happen that will feel like history repeating itself.

That's what I fear. But I wish I'm wrong. As I watch what happens in the geopolitical stage, I wish my fears won't happen.

Same here.I just feel as if from the 2020s,it will just all go downhill. The scariest part is that I don't know what humanity will be up too_O

Yeah I'm worried about 2020 too. Mostly I'm worried about the election that my country will have in 2020 and what this world is becoming. Hopefully I can do something to make the world better but I'm not so sure what I can do. Also I'm finally moving out of my parents house next year in march and though I'm excited I'm also worried. I'm going to miss my parents even though I will still have contact and still visit them every now and then I'm also not looking forward to having to be more responsible. 2020 seems like it will definitely be a year of change at least for me but I'm not sure if it's a change for the better or worse.

Yeah I definitely wish I could do something too that would change the world for the better, but I guess I can't.I hope that at least in 2020 everything will stay the same if it just doesn't become better.

My feelings here are that this is an example of the "glass half full" versus "glass half empty" viewpoints. Though here it seems the glass is already empty.

From my perspective, this is a matter of individual choice. Long ago I decided to adopt the "glass half full", that is to say, optimist's perspective. My reason at the time was that many things in life are somewhat neutral, if we choose to look on the positive aspects, we may actually enjoy these otherwise neutral occurrences. The counter-point to the same argument is that if we choose to look upon the negative side, we can make an otherwise neutral occurrence into one of misery.

From a more recent personal perspective, I now take the view that our thoughts have a real creative force. Thus we don't just passively find ourselves being subjected to various events, but rather we play a role in bringing them about. Thus it is even more vital to maintain an optimistic outlook, since we take responsibility for what we create for ourselves.

Just my personal observations of course.

It is awfully tempting to express political issues, I'd love to, but will try to avoide doing it. We just have to recognize that freedom allows risks that can not be ameliorated.

That actually sounds like Loa(law of attraction).I'm planning on buying books like the secret to possibly learn more about it and use it in my own life. But first I'll have to change my way of thinking, since I'm naturally pretty pessimistic and always tend to go more to the more pessimistic side of things because for me personally it seems the most realistic. On one hand I really want to believe that 2020 will be great, but on the other I still know that will mean we will be one more year apart from the lifetime I'm so used to.I think I'm mostly afraid of everything becoming even more modern and society becoming more snobistic and weird

I'ts actually not bad to express those.I'ts no secret that there are a lot of political issues nowadayso_O

Im normally not a very political person as I can't stand politics. And you're so right about freedom coming with risk. Often I wish we didn't have so much freedom. I'm not sure about other counties but I feel my country has too much freedom. Sorry for posting my opinion again.

Actually sometimes I wish that too.I mean, having freedom is definitely good, but to a certain point.Nowadays people are a bit "too free" if you ask me.I probably sound pretty confusing, but I hope you still get what I mean (lol for some reason I always end up sounding weird)

Yeah I agree with you to some degree freedom is a good thing like I'm very glad that in my country we have freedom of religion. On the other hand I think the media should be more censored like it was in the past.

Yeah that's what I meant. For example with the whole "body positivity" movement.I like they idea of not bringing down people with a different body type and accepting it,but I think that making nude selfies and posting them for the sake of body positivity and loving your body is going a bit too far.And if you dare to say anything about it people become triggered and start calling you all sorts of things.Pretty weird if you ask me.It just feels as if humanity is taking a step back instead of forward this way

Finally someone who kind of gets me. I don't like nudity that much either. I can only see nudity in art such as painting and drawings only because I'm an artist and know that when drawing people you start with a nude figure even if you are drawing clothes on them. Other then that I don't like it.

Same here.Because in a painting or artwork,it had a purpose. It was asked for.I'm also more used to paintings because I do art in school so if we learn about an artist ofcourse we can't avoid more explicit paintings. But when i'ts just some random person posting some mirror selfie on Instagram I imideantly flinch when seeing it pop up on my home screen because well...did anyone ask for a "body positivity selfie"?Does it have a purpose??yeah humans can be confusing sometimeso_O

Good to know there are others like me. I think the reason I can't understand others is because I lived on another world in a past life. Unfortunately I can't talk much about that here.

I don't yet know whether I've lived lives on other planets... but I do know that the longer I live, the less I understand people as a whole. Either that, or I do understand them and don't like what I see!

That's a blanket statement, of course. There are plenty of decent folk on this rock, and at least as many sometimes-decent ones. With all of that being said, the world certainly seems to be on a more... interesting course than usual.

I'm enjoying hearing the perspectives of younger people in relation to the world today. (Yes, I'm over 30-- kindly put away the crucifixes and holy water ;) ) You all are coming into adulthood at a time when "rugged individualism" has been taken to 11 and the internet (especially social media) has given us the ability to experience how petty and small-minded people can potentially be. The transition into the Internet Age was a bit jarring for the rest of us too, but you were born into it, molded by it... so it's being enlightening as to hearing what it's like from the inside.

Yeah though I'm part of the first generation to grow up with the internet I kind of don't like it. I guess because I think it should be censored. There's just too much inappropriate stuff online I think.

We are given these vehicles for our experiences in this lifetime. The choice of body-type etc. was/is up to us. The attraction of the female body by a male is quite understandable by me in terms of creating a desire for forming a family.

The competition that people get caught-up in leads to the feelings mentioned IMO.

Actually, I question it a lot ever since. We would wonder why humanity has to be like that, over and over again.
I most of the time doubt if humanity even understands itself.I suppose not, since we are all part of it and questioning humanity here on this forum.

That's why I'm glad I found this forum :.)If I would talk about all of this with people in my life they would all think I'm weird or that I just have a lively imagination.
