Black and White Photo's

I have a question. Last night as I was going to bed, I began getting visions of black and white photographs of people I have never seen before - in this life time. They had that mousie gray color to them - not truly black and white and the people in them I knew lived in the 1930's -1940's. The clothing was very specific, the hats, hair styles and the culture. They were Italian, some of them Jewish.

I felt this incredible sadness as I viewed one woman -I could draw her image - easily. It was that clear. I knew she was taken by Nazi's. So the feeling, emotional response was also present with the visions of the photographs. I know my last life time was in Italy, during World War I & II. The photographs I saw -I have never seen in this life. I am very good with faces, and images not names however.

I was wondering if others here have had this type of experience. Where photographs - one - right after the other -as if looking through a pile of them - was - the vision?

Hiya Deborah;)
Yes, I often have this this happen. I get to see all kinds of faces. Some I know. Others not. Usually for me they zip along really quickly, then one will sort of 'leap' out of them and then change into a full view of the person. The last time this happened it was a huge great Egyptian priest, wearing the leopard skin. He made me jump he was so vivid. (Then again, maybe he made me jump a long time ago too:D )

I'm pretty certain Kelly has seen similar things. Shall we call her?
"Oh Kelly....where are you?"
Love and light,
Gemeni.

Picking up on the Gemeni Hotline

Yes, I've experienced something similar in both my dreams and meditations...in fact I know I've already shared a meditation experience with Deborah when it did happen, when all these black and white images seemed to flash one after the other, as if in a pile...I remember some of the faces being unknown to me, whereas others were more archetypal (like I remember a "Virgin Mary" image).

I also got it in another meditation very similar to your Gem, when I saw a flash, then I seemed to "transport" straight to the scene...first I saw a headress, then the leopard skin and as I moved my consciousness down past the raised arms in the air all around me, I realised I was witnessing an Egyptian ceremony of some kind.

In my dreams, they appear more as photographs being flicked through real quick, whereas in meditation it is more flashes that I seem to be "zooming" in on, as if bringing them up from my unconscious. It's almost like my unconscious brings them up to see which ones hit me emotionally, or catch my attention enough for me to draw information from that nanosecond they are exposed to me...like a searching through files of sorts.

HI Gemeni,

DO you mean you saw an image of the Egyptian Priest as a Black and White photograph? Or just a still image of him -not in a photograph??? I am confused?????? They didn't have cameras -did they? (Deborah scratches her head)

HI Kelly,

LOLO -- OK now I remember! Funny -it didn't mean anything to me when you shared it. I remember taking note -but it wasn't until now -once I have had the experience that I am questioning why? And reflecting on the event.

I have had one real vivid past life memory -- in Italy. My last life time. Specifically I remember the furniture in the house, the fireplace, the front door. But something that held emotional meaning and importance was the sepia colored photograph that I could see on the fireplace mantle. It was a photo of my uncle in his uniform -during WWI. This to me seems like a reasonable memory. But why -the photo parade? Why in black and white? My flashes were of a time period when the B/W photo was in vogue -popular and acted as the most contemporary record of our friends and family.

My other visions are always in motion -like watching a movie. These were still. No motion, only an occational emotional response on my part.

Hi Deborah,
What I mean is I see images like a frozen frame from a movie. The kind of stills they use to promote films. They're still images from various times. When I focus in on them they then start to move.

My experience

Hello :)

My experience is a bit different than yours, Deborah,
but still I like to share.

I really love old photographs, I like to look at them, dive into them, just to get the feeling what it is like to live there at that time. One evening, some years ago, I was doing my homework for school. And in my study book (Dutch literature) was a picture
of an old dead poet. I examined that picture very closely, because it was taken about 10 minutes from my home.

That night I had a dream: I was in that picture, and everything was black and white (I normally dream in full color), I was walking through my town, though it was the year 1911. There were old street cars, and everyone was dressed old fashioned. I wanted to visit a friend who lives at the other side of the street, but of course she didn't live there yet in 1911.

Still I rang the door bell, the old dead poet himself opens the door, he smiles about my questions, no of course she doesn't live here! Then I wake up.

I've had several dreams like this. It starts with an old picture or postcard, and all of a sudden I'm there. One day I had a quite scary dream. I landed in another postcard of my hometown,
but there weren't any people in it. Only streets, trees and houses.
I got lost somewhere at the other side of town, and on a billboard I saw it was 1943 or something, so WWII was going on.
When I saw that I realized that is was time to go home, but there were no buses, no cars, no people who could take me home, so I had to walk, but every minute bombs could fall.

And when I finally found a street I recognized and knew which way I had to go, I started thinking (just like in my other dream) I don't have a home here in 1943!

Then I'm suddenly there where I live today, the same building, but with other curtains, just one or two cars in the street.
I know I can't enter my home, I have no keys, and the people who live there don't know me.

I had more such dreams, they look a bit like old movies, no sounds, just black and white pictures one after another.

Curious Girl.

I have had a similar experience, although not with black and white photographs. Obviously the downtown of any city is the oldest part, especially if it's been around for 200 or 300 years (as most North American cities are) Well one time I was at a downtown intersection, lots of traffic, activity, buildings, people walking, etc. Then as I started to concentrate/focus on that particular area, I began getting mental images of people dressed in black, men with long handlebar moustaches, horsedrawn carriages, dirty dusty roads, etc. There's this one structure that I still haven't been able to figure-out, long vertical poles parallel to the ground, almost like a fence made-up of 3 or 4 poles (?) Anyways for that one brief instant, it was like I was transported back 200 years, perhaps tapping into the psychic imprint left there from all that activity.

Thanks for the camera info Rast! ;) I had no clue.

I thought that's what you meant Gemeni -I just wanted to better understand it. Your experiences are always awesome! :)

Curious Girl -I loved reading about your experiences. Very interesting indeed. I can so relate to the WWII Bombings and have memories of walking the streets right after a raid. It was a difficult time -to say the least.

I am glad you shared your experience. Although different than mine - it is VERY interesting to read about others experiences that are similar. And besides, I think the differences are what make them so unique and valid! If we all posted the same thing -how boring would that be? ;)

Ben -yours sounds like you stepped into the hologram. ;)

I was reading through this thread about the "still pictures" pl images, I was happy to discover I am not the only one who have such experiences.

In the past I had many pl images of this kind (in dreams or right before I go to sleep), sometimes I would see only one picture and sometimes many of them, one after another like a slide show. I am wondering if it have a reason, why still pictures and not a live memory?

Also, Is there a reason why the pictures are not colored? I usually see the images with colors but sometimes they are kind of 'brown' or colorless, does that have a reason too? Does it come to point on something?

It happened to me once in an intense dream. I saw two pictures from before 1950, one was black and white, and it was from a wedding, and the other was sepia and seemed like a carnet photograph. What is intriguing is that the pictures were damaged at a side...

I'm just guessing here but maybe the images are black and white stills (photos) to take the emotional edge off of the flash back. Also, if the memories are from a time when photos were black and white (since there wasn't yet colored film) it would make sense that they'd remember photos in black and white.

Plus, a visual person will get images faster than audio or physical input or signals, just as an emotional person will get feelings before getting the other kinds of information from inner work.

Just a few thoughts,
Wulfie

As far as photographs and visions are concerned, I'm more like Curious Girl, though I've had no dreams or such regarding them. The only vision I've had involving a photograph was seeing one on my mantle of Maria. It was a sepia photograph, but the frame and the glass over the photograph seemed dirty. It was as if I hadn't touched the thing in years. I'm not sure what that would mean, but it was a photograph nonetheless.

Wow, the same thing happened to me once. Seeing the black and white photograph of a little Jewish girl in a dream (which lead to a PL memory..if that is what it was) is what lead me to this Web site 2 years ago. In the dream, my great grandmother in this life showed me a photograph of a young girl around 10 years old. I flipped the photograph over and it said 1938 on the back of it. I then went into this photo sort of speak and had the most vivid dream I've ever experienced. I was not this girl, but I felt I could have been her sister. (as unbelievable as this sounds, the girl in the photo looked just like a ghost I saw when I was around 11 or 12..only she was semi-translucent with the exception of her dark, long hair that looked as real as ours). Anyways, I, in the dream, must have been very young between 4-6 years old because my head went just above a long table in the hallway. We had just gotten home from somewhere. The day was clear and sunny. I remember the lady of the house (mother?) walking into a back bedroom to check on the girl from the photo and I heard a scream. The girl was dead in a white night gown (just like the ghost I had seen). The mother walked out of the room with her hand over her mouth and collapsed outside the front door when some neighbor women ran over to help her. I was in the hallway (I could describe the house and the woman's clothing to a T, but not my own since I didn't look down at myself). I walked back into the bedroom and the girl had been "crucified" like Jesus almost. It was a horrific scene. Some other lady ran into the bedroom and lead me out. I'm not sure, but I just knew we were Jewish. I was raised in this life around Christians, but I've always felt a strong connection to Judaism and their traditions. Most of my friends are Jewish even. Of course, this dream came before all that. I woke up after the lady lead me out of the room. I felt she was a relative. Not sure. I wonder if any Nazi or whoever would have murdered a Jewish child in their home (she may have been ill and that is why she was in her nightgown still and she didn't go with us) and as a cruel part of the murder, posed the child like that of Jesus since we were Jewish? Sorry this is so graphic and disturbing. I also liked the name Azriel for years and thought I had made it up until I posted it on this site a year ago and someone told me it was a Hebrew name.

Hi angleyes,

It sounds to me what you are describing could be part past life memory (perhaps this little girl was your sister, and also the ghost was the same little girl who died) and part dream? Perhaps some of it got jumbled up in the dream? Perhaps the idea that she was crucified was some kind of dream shorthand for her being killed by Christians - ie in the holocaust?

Just a thought. Perhaps, if is it not too disturbing for you, it would be good to ponder the image of the girl's face you saw in the photograh and explore the emotions around her being your sister? Perhaps this would help you clarify the 'dream' and 'memory' elements of the experience?

When you saw the ghost when you were a child, did you feel she was trying to tell you something? This is not an uncommon thing for a ghost to do.

I'm not sure. When I first saw her, she looked very surprised that I could see her. She was on all fours on my bedroom floor reaching out towards a stuffed animal (I'm guessing as this is what it seemed?). I was sitting up, looking straight at her. Although her face was semi-transparent, I could make out her expression. She looked shocked. Her mouth was wide open and her eyes (looked more like sockets?) were wide open as well. We just stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity and then put her hand down and began to crawl away until she dissapeared. Later the next morning, I heard my younger sister gasp and she told me that I'd never believe what she had just seen. She saw the same little girl, only this time it was broad daylight and the little girl was hiding in the bath tub. She said it was like the girl was trying to hide from her. The only thing on the girl that looked human like (or non-transparent or "ghostly") was her hair. Her hair as real looking as mine. I'm really not sure what the connection was. Afterwards, I never saw her again, but I would hear her. I heard a girl laughing once in the same bathroom my sister saw her in and the door creaked shut. That really, really scared me since my sister was away at the time. At night, I would hear the loud clacking (like high heel shoes) on the sidewalk outside my bedroom window in our backyard. The scariest thing was when the girl would push my bed really hard, or any bed I was lying on. This would also happen when I was wide awake and during the day time. So, she was rather playful, but I'm unsure of her altogether.

Just thought of this commercial when I read about your experience..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GF0E6kRwKzQ

Kind of like the TV-series Medium or "Ghost wisperer" compared to real mediums - but still fun to view.
