Children with spirit friends

I am actually posting for my sister in-law who has been calling me with questions about her son, as well as experiences she has been having herself with souls from the after life. Recently her son age 3 has been talking with an invisible friend. Laughing and carrying on as if someone is there. When she asked him who are you talking to? He replied "Johnny he is my friend." Then he went on to tell her Johnny is dead mommy, his mommy put him in the ground and put a sign on him. She asked him what did Johnny die from, and he said he says "he died from praying too much." she asked how old Johnny was he said 5. Later he was laughing and said mommy, Johnny has star-wars jammies on mommy. I like his jammies. She asked whats his last name, and he replied "Johnny wants you to go away and leave him alone." LOL I guess she was annoying him with questions.

My daughter also had an "invisible friend" when was age 2-4. She called him Nino which in spanish is baby boy I believe. She would carry on conversations with him, and laugh. When I would ask who she was talking with, she would say Nino, cant you see him he is sitting right here! One night I had her in my lap rocking in our rocking chair watching TV. She starting squirming and laughing. I asked her what was so funny? She said Nino is tickling me like this and she did tickled me. At some point, she just stopped seeing Nino and never mentioned him again.

My sister in-law is trying to find information on how to handle these situations. Does anyone have any books she can that would address these types of incounters? We can find plenty on reincarnation, and children remembering past lives, but not on having spirits around them. She is having encounters as well.

Or if anyone has any advise for her it would be greatly apprecaited!

It seems, from the widespread stories from most cultures of the world, that children communicating with spirit forms (usually deceased children) is common and IMHO this phenomena is entirely normal and NOT to be feared.


Children (and Animals) have the innate given ability to see disincarnated (not in a body) Souls that have died and have not crossed over, or have crossed over and have come back to the physical plane for some reason or another.


Children generally can see spirits “head-on”, but outgrow the ability, while Adults only have the ability to see spirits out of the corner of their eye usually.


Usually around the age of 7, children seem to outgrow this ability to see spirits and to communicate with them, however some children who retain this “gift” go on to become mediums.


When I was about their age group, I too had an “Invisible Playmate”, who in retrospect may have been the Soul of my Twin, who never made it all the way to 9 months, but instead may have sacrificed himself and miscarried.


Please tell your Sister-in-Law that this, IMHO is a normal phase in early childhood and once again NOT to be feared.

My youngest son who has Autism, went through a period of asking for Grandpa, and it appeared he was talking with him as well.


My dad passed away when I was pregnant with my son and never knew I was pregnant.


He did this off and on for 3-4 years and I have wondered about this.,


Also he was able to tell me "Grandpa" when I was going through pictures.

It is my personal opinion (and shared by others) that those Souls with Autism have the ability to tap into the Spiritual world more readily.


It is also my belief also, that children who have Downs syndrome, are mentally challenged, or otherwise compromised also have the heightened ability to tap into the Spiritual world.


This is NOT to imply that your Son (or any others with Autism) are retarded in any way, but to point out the different “States of Consciousness” that can make them more receptive to psychic phenomena including the ability to communicate with deceased Souls.


Whereas the child might appear to be talking to themselves, it is possible that they are in fact, conversing with a disincarnated Soul, usually a child, who is attracted to another child, often because they are less of a threat.


I would be interested in hearing from others, especially stories involving children, who appear to have been talking to possibly others in the Spiritual world.

I hate to be a spoil-sport, but a 5 year old with an imaginary friend could just have a vivid imagination.


Parapsycology subjects are fascinating, and I believe in them to some extent.


However, we must look for ordinary explanations first before proclaiming a supernatural event. (Looking for ordinary explanations for things is called Occam's Razor.)

Although it is tempting to suggest that—by the same token—too many adults have no imagination at all; I must say that I agree that none of us should be overly credulous about things that we hear or read about. But then again—also by the same token—none of us should exhibit closed minds to everything we hear or read. It is far too easy to explain away all anecdotal evidence as lies, fabrications or imagined whimsies. If we treat everything in such a manner, how could we ever have discovered such wonders as are accepted today? All the products of technology and science began not in the laboratory, but rather in the imaginations of minds who dared to push the envelope of accepted doctrine. The imaginations of a child are no less respectable. Who knows but what fantasies we own are not based on something real?
