Clothing Triggers

Get her address, write her a thank you letter for the beautiful gift. Not an e-mail, but an actual physical letter. These days it blows peoples' minds! ;)

Oh, I'll definitely do that, ShiftKitty! I only wish I could explain to her why it meant so much. In fact, I wish I could explain to myself! Haha!

It just appealed to me on some kind of deeper level, a generous and luxurious gift for a girl who probably only expected a tangerine and a shilling! An odd feeling when, in this life, I've been lucky enough to be born without hardship. It was like I was right back there in the 1910s somehow.

That's a nice story, Whippoorwill. Shiftkitty is right. She will appreciate a personal note. Do you think you may have known your aunt in a PL? A shawl is an item of clothing with an "antique" feel about it. My parents were kids in the Depression. They always talked about how great it was to get an orange in the toe of their stocking. They always put one in mine, and we lived on the coast of California! I could go outside and pick one. They said oranges "smelled like Santa Claus." Maybe your soul remembers that tangerine, and the shilling?

I will definitely send her a thank you letter, it seems very apt somehow! :)

My parents had me when they were older, and were both born in the early forties, so they've told me about only expecting an orange or a homemade toy, so I can't claim that knowledge, but I think my soul definitely remembered the feeling of not expecting to receive anything, which was not something I'd felt before (I'm an only child, somewhat spoiled!), the shawl really triggered it.

I've never really thought about having known her in a past life, she's my partner's aunt, but I certainly like her and her husband very much, so it's possible! I think her nephew (my partner) may have been my older brother in my life before this one, so there is a family link there.

Thank you for sharing that Whippoorwill! It reminds me of a present I got for Christmas this year too; out of everything that I got the thing I had wanted the most was a simple pair of thick, warm, wool socks. I got them and it just made my face light up! I couldn't express how happy they made me...

Oh my goodness...I LOVE clothes!!! I love detail and lace and ribbons and all that girlie stuff...and I haven't changed! It is my love for this detail that has helped me date my pastlives, with much success!!! I do have one memory as a young man...but I was more interested in women, and not dress!!

The main thing for me in the past few years has been my hair. I just can't cut it! It's almost down to my waist now and I wear it in curls. It just feels right. An very elderly man visited my library a few weeks ago and remarked on it, saying it was lovely to see hair like mine as it was how girls used to wear it. I took that as a huge compliment, although I'm not sure most people would have! Haha!

Red Night What a lovely story! We obviously remember simpler times!

Briar Rose and Jody I also think I may have had a life in Scotland, but it may have been before your era. I can't seem to get a date and the clothes are so hard to pin down. Just grey/green cloaks worn to battle, roughly woven. No checked tartan, which makes me think it was an earlier date. I joined the Scottish Tartan Society as a small child and collected samples of the cloth, had a Scottish Terrier as a pet and traced which clans I belonged to. Viva Scotland!
