Hi all.
My name is Ness and I am looking for some guidance/insight/answers:
I heard about a tragic death involving a 5 year old boy: he was brutally stabbed & killed by his father in his bed. His father was charged with his murder. His father has had some serious mental health issues and sought help prior to the killing, but he was deemed to not be a threat to himself or anyone else. Anyway, it’s just deveststing!
Since hearing about this story, I have felt an immense amount of sadness. I have found myself crying over the situation and I stop myself from imagining what that little boy went through. I have been following the news for any updates and I reached out to the families neighbor (who I found on Facebook after they were interviewed by the media) and I donated to the fundraiser they had for the family.
I have never been so effected by such a story like I have been with this one. I have never donated or searched for people or cried, and my question is why?? I never knew the boy or his family. They even live in a different state to me! It’s totally gobsmacked me! I wonder if it’s because I am a mother of 2 boys and my brother has a mental illness? When I consider those factors, I’m not convinced that their the reasons why I have been so upset over this story. Any insight or similar experiences any of you have had?
