Could this dream I had actually be a past life memory? - Other clues...

I had this dream probably over a year or so ago but it is still vivid in my mind.

I remember standing in the doorway of a kitchen. It had a wood-paneled floor and was not like the kitchens of today (with microwaves and such). I was standing in front of a round table and on the other side of a table was a middle-aged woman. She was doing laundry and hanging the laundry on a line that had been strung across the room. I "felt" like I was a tall man. I was looking down at the scene but not from a height that would make me seem like more of a observer. I also "felt" that the place I was in was large. I "felt" that we were talking about something important and felt sort of frustrated because she wasn't seeming to understand what I was saying. At first, I thought that it might have been some sort of language barrier because to this day, I have no idea what we were talking about. But now, I feel like it might be more of a misunderstanding and not caused by a language barrier.

Other clues that I've collected over the years:
  • Once, while completing a self-regression exercise, the image that first appeared to me was of a large brick building with vines or some type of plants on the front and it was surrounded with a wrought iron fence.
  • My nephew (who is about two) told me that before we were in the military together fighting and I got hit in the chest with what I assume was a bomb or bullet of some sort. He just made a sound to indicate an explosion while pointing at my chest. (I must admit this was a little startling.)

I have a suspicion about who I might be but I am not sure so I don't want to announce it quite yet.

For the longest time, I've had an intense interest in Nazi Germany as well as the military (U.S. Marines, in particular). When I was in ROTC, I was always fed up because I felt that I wasn't being recognized for what I was, and so on an so forth.

Any thoughts?

Some other details that I've collected over the years:

I've always had an intense interest in the 1930s/WWII era. At first it was the European theatre, but has turned even more intensely to the Pacific theatre. I am absolutely in love with the Marine Corp although being female (and not in the best physical shape) I wouldn't even dare try to join up.

I believe (although no real solid proof) that I was a U.S. Marine who fought and died on Iwo Jima and I feel that I was involved with the flagraising on that island.

I was drawn to that conclusion because:

This individual was not born in the U.S. but was born in Europe and joined up to fight the Nazis but was sent to the pacific.

From the dream, I concluded that (a) the reason I didn't understand what was being said was because it would be in a foreign language (the woman being my mother and someone who would have been more comfortable speaking Slovak), (b) she would be doing laundry in doors because living in an area near mines and refineries at the time would have caused ash and soot to permeate the air and hanging laundry outside would have soiled them, © "my family" back then eventually owned a tenement style house and that would account for the size of the building, (d) the type/style of the building would match up with the architecture of the area.

Watching documentary footage from the Battle of Iwo Jima sickens me...I just can't stand watching that stuff.

"I" died (according to my nephew) from a wound to my chest. The "I" that I believe I was actually died from a chest wound.

Of course, I could be wrong...but it feels right to me...and I guess that's all that matters really. I would just like to hear others thoughts on this and perhaps what I can do to open up more memories.

Hiya Weshinetogether,

I think it's possible that your dream was past life related. I've often found that past life dreams stick with you unlike 'normal' dreams, which at least tend to forget rather quickly :) .

As to the other things you mention - it sounds intriguing, but be careful not let yourself be swept away by research results. It can create false memories and the adrenalin rush you feel when you may have found validation can obscure facts that are actually vital - I know this to happened to myself numerous times :o

I can only advice you to do even more regressions/meditations and try to gather more details before heading out to research let (although it's sooo tempting, I know!! : angel:D). I know some members here have the opinion that we shouldn't do research or try to validate our past lives at all. While I personally think research and possible validations are a vital part of reincarnation research, I do understand them too. Too much research too soon can blur the actual points or details of the memory. I'm not saying this is what happened to you, but it's just a warning that it could very well happen.

Have you had other memories of this life? I'm curious to hear them

Any thoughts?
Hi, Weshinetogether :)

Dr. Ian Stevenson has done lots of research on children who remember past lives who have sustained injuries or death blows in a past life corresponding with birthmarks they have in their current life. Do you have any birthmarks on your chest?

I'm really interested in learning about your nephew's experiences. How did it happen that your nephew start talking about your life in the military together? Maybe he can give you more clues??

I certainly understand what you're saying. I wouldn't want to pollute potential authentic memories and such with false ones. I am just using my knowledge to handle what clue I have already...and I am certainly open to changing my conclusions if something should come up that points to a different conclusion.

I haven't had really any other memories that were as clear as the first one that I shared. Although I wish that I did...that one came to me in a dream that I had without even trying to recall anything.

Through guided meditations, I've found myself standing outside of a rather large building surrounded with a wrought iron fence. I went into the house and upon walking through the door, I saw the kitchen that I saw in my dream to the immediate right. This happened after the dream so it is possible that my mind put it there but of course I don't know.

Jody,

I don't have any birthmarks on my chest.

I can't recall how my discussion with my nephew came about. But I remember that it came as quite a surprise to me. I am curious to see if he can give me any more clues. Next time, I see him, I will see what I can find out.

Hello weshinetogether,

I will have to agree with Sunniva that it is better for you to focus more on regression/meditation and less on research. We all want to know what we are experiencing is real, but you don't want to put yourself in a position of doubting whether or not your memories are actually memories and not fantasy caused by your research.

If you must, I would recommend this approach based on my own experience. I had a memory in which I remembered the name of my hometown in my last life. It was a small town that I had never heard of in this life. I looked up the town to find out if it really exists - which it does. It's best for me to leave it at that - knowing that it's there. If I start researching the town, I might find out it has (for example) a historical landmark there. If I have another memory of that town, and that landmark shows up in my memory, I don't know if I'm really remembering it or just plugging in what I found in my research. I hope this makes sense.

One thing that you mentioned that I find interesting is that you said that watching anything on Iwa Jima sickens you. It's funny how certain historical events have a stronger effect on us than others. I (for example) have stronger emotional feelings about the French Revolution than I do the American Revolution, and I am an American in this life. I do have memories of living in France during that time period. Your strong emotional responses to Iwa Jima do make me believe it's possible that you were there.
