Probationary
Hey everyone, I was wondering if people would be interested in taking a look at my poem on death ... I find it difficult to get a reaction from my usual peers! If you do choose to read it, please let me know what you think
There is no living soul I fear
Nor my own eternal sleep to tempt my tears
For the living are weakened by human flaws
And the grave I shall lie in will be a welcome door.
Yet Death frightens me to the point of no return
What was once pure becomes only memory to yearn.
When he swoops in, that unsuspecting silence
No other stranger leaves a trail so poisonous.
Meticulous,
He ponders on the jewels inside my heart
Wickedness,
The gem stolen, he swiftly departs.
And I, unwitting to this thief in the night
Realize
These tormented screams and agonizing cries
are swallowed by the shadows that slowly form:
Why did he take them when you let them be born?
Why did he take them from my very own list?
Why am I here while they cease to exist?
Give me the gun to shoot him with
I want him to die as I must live!
I will pull that trigger square in his eyes
For where was my chance to say goodbye?
None of you frighten me
The manipulative, the cunning, the deceitful, the cruel,
The seductive, the aggressive, the tyrant, the fool.
Only one opponent makes me shake in my bones
The one who will shamelessly break into my home.
In his presence, I quiver and beg on my knees
I cry and I bargain, but he ignores my pleas,
He takes what he wants, leaving in his wake
A damage so powerful, all for his own sake
Destruction
Devastation
A heart-rendering rendition
A scream to this merciless stealer
Will such theft produce a healer?
“If this is how it is meant to be
Next time you steal:
TAKE ME.”
