Do They Know?

I was wondering if any of you think that the souls who choose to be born into our families do so because they know we are open to discussions of the paranormal, metaphysical, and/or reincarnation?

Of the children born on my side of the family (meaning those born to my siblings whether being male or female) all have openly discussed experiences with me except one boy. His mother just told me a few things that lead me to believe that he has had experiences as well but chooses not to speak about it.

My brothers do not believe. My sister believes but is a bit on the fence.

Your thoughts?

I guess it's a possibility, but I think there are many other factors that weight more in the decision, like for example if we have met in other lives, what kind of family they are going to have, etc. I am the last kid to be born in my family, and that was already a while ago, nobody else has been born in our close family since then, even though my brothers are all well over 30. We have always been very open to talk about metaphysical topics, so I assume is not that much of a strong reason to be born into a certain family. I guess my family didn't fit anyone else's soul needs since I was born.

I have thought about this, too. It is a bit of a circular argument I have with my own self.

My grandma made little comments like "maybe from a past life" when she was alive, but it was an aside. We never talked about it. Still, out of all her grand kids, she chose me. I can not help but think it was in part because I would understand where her many fears were coming from, whereas my brothers and cousins probably would not.

Then again, I think just about everyone has past life bleed-through, psychic experiences, etc. Unfortunately, not all parents are open to it. So are our kids just lucky, that they can talk about what they are experiencing, without being told it is all in their head?

I go round and round . . .

My brother is a non believer. He is of the mindset that if you aren't exactly as he is and if you do something a different way than he does you are wrong.

He is a bigot who hates Catholics. His sons and soon to be ex wife are Catholic. He drops the n word in just about every sentence.

It is so bad that when my daughter and I are around him we wear earphones and keep the music on so we don't hear him.

He is the polar opposite of me and hates me with a passion because of something I said 3 decades ago.

My point is that his sons have each come to me with their experiences then my brother told them it is not real and that I am nuts because I believe as I do.

I wonder why those two souls chose to be born to him. That just doesn't make sense to me.

So I guess I will have to go round and round as well ...

Mama, now that is interesting as regards to your brother. Personally do know several people like this. Now one is a very good friend who is an atheist and denies everything. And we have possibly shared it seems some past lives together. I have approached him on the subject of reincarnation but he soooo dismisses it. Do think it is sad in my opinion for with these individuals they cut themselves off from so much with their skepticisms.

Now as far as my family, it has been mixed with some being fervent fundamentalist christian believers and some being agnostics. When my father was still alive, we would talk about this all the time. He onetime said to me that in coming back, it is how much we just want to 'Enjoy' another life again. In this do think he soooo hit the nail on the head for do soooo agree with this! In his life he had studied religion and philosophy and at onetime had junked it all because of his experiences during WWII. But he had come around to reincarnation as the onething he could believe in. Now do think I can approach this subject some with my brother and his family. He is more of an agnostic. But my mother and sister, were and are very fervent christians and any mention of this subject is very much taboo bigtime! But I personally received something precious from both my parents, which now have both passed on, and do know why I chose them for being my parents in this life. Now I personally can get along with both my agnostic brother and my fervent christian sister. But they in themselves do not talk with each other. Interesting in how families are in this day and age. And in actuality how many families get so splintered as life goes on because of various issues.

Personally do think there is many factors of why we chose the families we are born into and the parents that we will have in each life.

Wishing Everyone the Best!

When it comes to why we "chose" our parents, it most definitely isn't because we chose someone to make our life easier, as far reincarnation belief goes, that's the only aspect i have problems/doubts with, for example one of my parents is bad, and i can't imagine choosing him, but i'm certainly not the only one, there are whole lot of parents that are bad people and that i don't think anybody has chosen. I really don't understand the process, maybe it's karma, but it seems too cruel, i don't know.

Speaking personally, I would say that my parents' take on reincarnation would probably have been absolutely the last thing on my mind in choosing them.

One of them is a very conventionally-minded attender of a Christian church and the other one is pretty agnostic/atheist. Neither of them believes in reincarnation, though the churchgoer out of them has been on holiday in a country before where they knew their way round (a thing I personally would take as "I've been here before"). They don't condemn me out of hand for thinking this way. They don't support me either.

I think I chose them for a variety of reasons, but their ideas (or otherwise) on reincarnation came way way down the list of reasons. In Britain I know it is very very rare indeed to find anyone at all that believes in reincarnation and I honestly cant think of a single person I know ITRW that thinks that way. The best I've ever been able to manage is people who don't condemn me for thinking that way. No-one, but no-one ITRW is "on my side" in this....and hence a forum like this is useful in that respect I feel.
