earlier life relatives discovered thru pictures?

Hi everybody,

I'm searching thru this forum since a few weeks, but havn't posted yet. Im 28 and have a niece at the age of almost 3 years which I love to bits. I'm from germany, so please excuse my bad english... ;-)

Now the story I that I would like to share:

A few weeks ago I gave a dinner at my flat. My sister had a few glass of wine, so we decided that she and her daughter will stay at my place overnight. Early in the morning, I was sitting at my computer, my niece woke up and joined me, playing with my dog on the floor. Suddenly my niece stood next to me and asked what am I doing. I was reading some gossip on the internet, so I just asked her:"do u know this guy" (it was some famous singer and I thought she might recognize him from mtv, which I often leave running on my tv when I'm at home.) She just said in a normal voice: "That's grandmum." I looked at her, laughing and said: "Grandmum looks a bit different, doesnt she?" So she replied "thats my other grandmum". I was wondering, cos she only has one grandmother...Her other grandmother (mother of my sisters hubby) died about 38 years ago in an accident. So I showed her some more pictures of him. She kept saying "yes, thats my other grandmum" I asked for her name and where she is, but she didnt answer it. So I asked : "Do I know her" She shaked her head, said "no" and continued playing with my dog. It was a rather weird situation, cos I know my niece very well when she is joking around. But this time she didnt run off laughing etc..She seemed very interested in those pictures, but annoyed of me that I didnt understand who it was.

Now this is my question:
Is it possible to recognize relatives from past lives thru pictures? Nobody of my family is interested in that singer or has cds of him etc. Thats why I dont want to put his name on the board, cos I guess people could claim me nuts. Its just a question and story I cant ask anybody in my family.

I'm very interested in ur opinions!!!

Hi summer, and welcome to the forum! Your English is fine, don't worry - and by the way, I'm from Germany, too! :)

Thank you for sharing your story; it's very interesting! I'm sure it's possible to recognise past-life relatives or friends from pictures; I've had a similar thing happen to me with an actor once, he looks, speaks and moves an awful lot like someone I knew 400 years ago ;)
What makes me wonder, though, is that your niece can't have known your grandmum in this life, but maybe she remembers her from a different one...interesting things to think about!

Hi summer,

Welcome to the forum! :D What an interesting experience with your niece! She's at the perfect age to be expressing memories of her past lives, so I agree with Reynardine that it's entirely possible that she does recognize someone from a photo.

Perhaps you could show her another photo of the same singer in a different outfit/setting and see what she says about it. I'd also recommend writing down the things she does say, so that you have something to refer back to, should she start talking more about it.

Have you read "Children's Past Lives" by Carol Bowman yet? If not, I would highly recommend getting a copy. ;)

Please keep us posted!

Ailish

(by the way, your English is great! :D )

Hi summer! :)

Welcome to the forum!
Is it possible to recognize relatives from past lives thru pictures?

I believe so! It would be interesting to show your nice some other pictures and see what she says. ;) How old is she, btw?
Thanks for sharing your story and i hope you enjoy the dicussions!

I wonder...

Is there a photograph somewhere in the family of this grandmother?
Or do you know yourself what she looked like?
Is there a resemblance between grandmother and this singer?
And was this singer born after grandmothers death?

Not that someone has to look like his/her previous incarnation,
but let's see if there's some pattern.
In looks, character or talents et cetera :)

Curious Girl.

Thank u all for the warm welcome!!!

@Fab & Ailish:
She is almost 3 yrs. I did show her some more pictures with different outfits..about 5 or 6. And she kept saying the same and looked a bit confused/annoyed that I was asking her the same stuff over and over again...

Thanks for the advice..I havnt read that book about childrens past lives yet, but I did read some books about reincarnation 2-3 years ago. "Many lives, many masters" and "the tibetan way of living and dying". Very interesting reads. Both were given to me by friends.

@curious girl:
There is only one picture left of the "other" grandmother that died about 38 years ago. She was very pretty, with dark hair..I have to take a look at it again and ask my sisters hubby about her character/talents etc. The singer is around 31..so born 7 years after she died ...but he is born / raised in another country...isnt that a bit far away to reincarnate? I thought its always the same circle of people?

Crazy but interesting story indeed...The sad thing is that none in my family knows about that happening...I doubt that they would understand it....

Im so so glad that I found such a friendly forum... :D

I think you should ask your sister if your neice has ever made mention of any memoried that can't be explained or talked about anything your sister can't figure out. Did you show her pictures of her other Grandmum? What did she say? I took it as the singer is male. Does he have feminine features? They say when you are reincarnated you keep the same eyes. Maybe she can recognize them, (if it is her grandmum), and that they can recognize other souls in the same manner. It has to be something, it's too weird not to be. Maybe keep presenting the pictures to her and keep asking her each time you see her, then maybe when she is a little older and able to communicate a little better she will still remember, or at least remember remembering.

It's not necessary to reincarnate in the same family or country.
That happens sometimes but not all the time.
In reincarnation there are no boundries when it's about location, language or gender.
But if you were for example Japanese in your past life and you are American now,
you still can feel attracted to Japanese things.

It's also not necessary that your looks and interessets are exactly the same.
What might be interesting is to find out what kind of music this grandmother liked.
Perhaps he sings the same kind of songs, in the same kind of style or
with theme's which were themes in grandmother's life.

I mean, if he was really her, there has to be this little something :)

Curious Girl.

It's also remarkable that she talks about a grandmother who has died so long ago.
It could also be that this singer is the reincarnation of her past life grandmother.
And that there is no link with your family at all.

Just guessing...

It would be interesting to know if the singer has any past life memories himself. Or if he saw your neice, if he would also recognize her!

@Vicky:
I think its great that you love your niece so much.
Yes, it feels like we have a very strong connection. I have another niece and she is lovely too, but there it feels totally different...
I wonder if more stories will follow?

Until then I will read the book Ailish recommended me earlier...thanx for that ;)

I doubt that its possible to ask him such stuff cos there is no connection to that singer. I think my niece might have to become a little older to discover such things for herself?
Did you show her pictures of her other Grandmum?
She has seens a picture of her grandmother, yes. But ther is no connection to me...she said I wouldnt know her.

Its all a bit confusing, sorry. The more I think about it, the weirder it sounds...

Summer, it doesn't sound too weird to me, and I hope to hear how it all develops :) I, myself, remember seeing a portrait of a rather famous author and claiming that it was a portrait of my father, made long long time ago. The man died just under 100 years before my father was born. I was 4 or 5 years old at the time and I even remember the feeling of distress since no one else could see the obvious. In my case they were of the same gender though :) I only wish that I had someone as open-minded as you are around me at the time. Maybe I could have had some other recollections.

Welcome to the forum Summer! :)

I'm sure there is a reason why your niece would call that singer grandma.

I'm not sure what you should do though. Maybe just show her pictures of him every once in a while to check if she's consistent with her claims and wait for her to tell more about the thing.

Maybe you could try to ask her (if she still claims it's her grandma) if she lived with her, where did they live, what did they used to do etc. I know she's a bit young, but sometimes children can tell amazing things when they remember their past lives.

Of course it could be she knows her/him only on the soul level and hasn't had a life together with her/him.

I hope you'll find out more about this and if you do, please keep us posted!

In the mean time I hope you read also other discussions on this forum and share your thoughts and views.
