Extreme Emotional Responses?

So I'm very new to this, but I guess I'll start off with a little background:

Ever since I was a kid I was very interested in the idea of reincarnation. When I say interested, I mean like I totally believed that that's how all of "this" works (this meaning life). I've never been open about my beliefs with anyone, so bare with me I'm struggling to put my emotions into words.

For a while I was off the idea of any type of any belief system and just kinda agnostic but recently my views have began to change. I may be over-thinking this, but it started about a month ago when I read a John Green book called The Fault in Our Stars. It broke something in me; throughout half the book the tears wouldn't stop streaming down my face. Like I couldn't even read in public it was that bad. This wasn't just like, "Oh yea that book was sad and such a cute love story." It was more like I don't understand why I fell so empty and cannot stop crying because I have an otherwise happy life. I don't know what struck up the emotional response whether it was the cancer or that fact that she lost him but it really got to me.

I may be just over reacting but I'm kinda freaked out by all the sadness.

Welcome to the forum. Have you read any books on reincarnation? There is a list of good books to read. Take a look around here and read the old threads, especially in the children's section. There is also a video archive section.

Hi P.J.

Welcome to the forum.

Strong emotional reactions like this are a hallmark of past life experiences. This is not so very uncommon at all. I have personally had bizarre 'unexplained' crying jags from time to time, only to find out later what it was all about.

Sometimes something in our present life will just remind us of something from the past and it will open the floodgates. Everyone has unresolved emotions from past life experiences. It's just that the vast majority don't recognise them for what it is.

What is it about the book that upset you most? Was it the theme of a lost love? That gets me every time.

I hope you will enjoy it here. Have a look around. Ask anything you like. You will find everyone very friendly and helpful.

Hello P.J. Welcome to the forum!!

Thanks for sharing your story. Like Tanguerra said, strong emotions are definitely a marker for past life memories. And I too, am certainly one who falls victim to them. Do you have any inklings of a past life that may be related?

Isn't it wonderful to know books can have such powerful effects on us! I recently read Kent Haruf's book Eventide. It made me cry at one point. It was the death of a principle protagonist and it just "hit home" with me... I can't explain it.

I'm a book worm and will check out your title! Thanks.

And again, WELCOME!

I had alot emotional periods

for about 2years. Mainly,

because I seen my best friend

from another life again.

At times it's very hard to deal with.

I ask myself why now?

Thank you for all the welcome and support.

Like I said in my earlier post I dont know whether it was the lost love or the disease that got to me because ive had emotional responses to both separately over the years I just never thought anything of it. I mean lost love movies or books always make me weep like crazy. And any mention of cancer and i can feel the tears begin to well up even though i really havent had any major experiences with it in this life. But Like when I was a kind I had a really big fascination with Queen Elizabeth I, i used to day dream about being different people. Once i hit a certain age it stopped.

Sounds like a past life memory to me P.J. (probably more than one) :)

Strong emotional responses like this and childhood fascinations with historical periods are sure signs.

Perhaps you can find out more about it? Have you taken a look through the FAQs? There is a lot of info in there about how to find out more about past lives.
