Since people have noted that there seems to be a preponderance of claims of famous or prominent past lives on the forum, I decided a little statistical investigation was in order!

Please click on the option that applies to you. "Famous" or "prominent" is defined thus: anyone whose name is likely to be familiar to most forum members, or any royalty or saint (even if now obscure).

Love & peace,
Karen

Since it seems to be the topic of discussion, the life in Japan that I "remember" was one where I was a dirt poor peon, living in a tiny fishing village, in the middle of nowhere, working from sunup to sundown, seven days a week, just to stay alive. We heard all of these stories of revolution and such, and every once in a while we would see soldiers running down the road, but it did not effect us. We were too hungry to worry about that stuff.

I don't think I've been any specific famous person, royalty, or clergy. But there were a few lives that seem to come close.

I know I was a student of one of the ancient Greek scientists. One of the Anaxa-whatever names. When I was in my 20s there was some kind of turmoil and I fled Athens. So history probably hasn't recorded much if anything of that life. Although I think I spent my last few years writing some kind of document, and there's a slim chance it has survived.

In Rome, after being a soldier I got some utopian ideals in my head and tried to get involved with the government. Never became a major figure (probably stayed an outsider) but I think there's a sculpture of that "me" around somewhere.

In 18th/19th century England, my family ran some kind of business venture. Don't remember specifics except that there was a big black iron machine that made lots of noise. I have no idea if this business is still in operation. Sometime during that life I was in a museum looking at an exhibit that depicted a scene in ancient Rome and I recognized one of the men was "me" (and didn't even believe back then - how's about that! :D).

My number would've been much lower, but you said royalty even if now obscure... so that sort of hiked my number a bit. A lot of those I don't consider famous or even notable, but other people would, so...

My prediction for the poll is that it'll turn out an inverted bell curve -- lots of people on either end and few in the middle. I think someone who's had more than one notable past life is likely to have several more, because their soul is up to the challenge. But that's just my philosophy on soul construction, really.

HI Karen,

I remember two prominent life times out of the ten past lives I have had memories of. Neither were famous - Are you sure the vote should put prominent lives and famous live together?

What are the perimeters in your poll for "prominent"?

One of mine was as a governess to a Chinese Emperor. The other I was the daughter of an Indian Prince in India. Died at age 19. Very sheltered life. Neither are/were famous and I am not even sure they are in your category for prominent.

ooppssssss I need to read more carefully! OK how do I take out my vote for two? Dang....... Sorry Karen -subtract a vote for 2. I will see if I can from the control panel. :(

Heh I did it! So the poll is now accurate. I learned something new. :)

That is strange, Deborah, but when I first visited the board I looked at all the pictures of the members that have pictures and tried to imagine who they were in a past life. And what I immediately thought of you was-Indian Princess. And there was a lot of gold jewelery in my vision. Then later I thought it may be because your hair looks like that in the picture and I didn't think about it anymore. Now I know there is something to it.

Interesting Angella. ;) Thanks for sharing. I lived during the time of the British take over and died because of an illness that I picked up on after leaving the palace -against my parent wishes or rules. Sigh -I always have been a sort of rebel. ;)

Thank you for sharing.I feel it was a brave move to try to leave the palace.
This is strange how some of the lifetimes written here fit right in with my feelings ,that it is so correct,so right. And all I have for knowledge is the feeling/guess and it is so right! It is great!

Keep on voting!

Hey, glad that people are still voting on this...

I notice that "no famous past lives" is way out ahead... except that if you add up all the others, "one or more famous past lives" it's not that big a difference... (on this writing) 13 with no famous/prominent lives to 11 with famous/prominent lives.

Tell the truth, I don't think that reflects the actual proportion among forum members... I suspect people claiming famous/prominent past lives are drawn to the poll, perhaps... ???

Love & peace,
Karen

If we're including my thread in this, please note that I was not simply referring to "celebrities" or "royalty." I was also referring to those who had overly dramatic events occur in their past lives, eg. being murdered, having their entire family killed in an ambush, etc. Something along those lines.

To Cindy

The poll is what it says it is... famous/prominent or not, nothing else. This issue -- famous past lives, that is, not dramatic past life happenings -- has been on my mind from long before you posted your thread.

I think "dramatic" events should be addressed in a separate poll, if they're going to be addressed in a poll, because they're a separate issue... and conducting such a poll would require defining "dramatic," or, if it's to get at what you're really trying to get at, "implausibly dramatic." Death by violence, or merely sudden? How much bereavement (since everyone suffers some)? How to quantify the degree of implausibility of different types of incidents? See the problem here? Implausibility is in the mind of the beholder. In the famous/prominent poll, it was possible to define the parameters.

Love & peace,
Karen

Results so far

So far the poll seems to be fulfilling both the predictions of curious_girl and Cassandra... more average lives than anything else but also a preponderance of "11 or more" famous/prominent past lives -- though "one" famous past life is still ahead of "11 or more".

Love & peace,
Karen

I was Isaac Massa, he(me) was kinda famous i think, because he(me) has a wikipedia page. So that is one.(and only, so far)

I must qualify my "famous" previous lifetime because while I hold his memories and some amazing vignettes of his life in that time, I also have other memories of that time from a different perspective...this is one of my simultaneous incarnations and I am not confident enough in it to go into detail.

As for a prominent person...this is my actual vote for two. Neither were so much famous as noted for being exceedingly rich. I died at 17 and reincarnated as my sister's son...also dying early. Yes, I died and returned as my nephew...so can this actually be considered two prominent incarnations, or should it be considered one? Same soul, two lives in one family...what do y'all think?

I don't know for sure. I had a REALLY weird dream where I was, and it was strange, because I could "feel" everything (that hardly ever happens to me in dreams). I read the "how do you know your dream is a past life dream?" thread, and it "fit." (I woke up thinking, "What the HELL was THAT?" I hadn't even thought about past lives since high school. Actually, it was that unsettling dream in April that got me into them again). If true, it would explain a lot, but on the other hand, I don't want to be one of those "I was Cleopatra in a past life!" people. This sounds silly, but I asked for a sign if I was this person or not, fully expecting the "not," and yet some weird things kept happening, including something in this very thread. So I don't know. At the moment, I'll refrain from voting or jumping to any conclusions either way

Mmmmmn... not sure of that... from what I remember I didn't had a "famous" past live... but I never did regression so I can't say it for sure.

I think it is tempting to ascribe ourselves past lives as famous people. It is natural, and a comforting antidote to the banality of the current existence in some cases.

My mother attributes her affinity with Ancient Egypt to a past life as a great ruler there, although she has no evidence to support it - except that a medium once told her that she'd once held great power, and abused it. Her present incarnation seems a karmic pay-off in that case, but we'll never know for sure in this lifetime.

I replied "one" for this. I have memories/flashes/feelings about four or possibly five past lives, but in only one of them do I feel strongly that I was or was connected somehow with a person of fame or prominence.

I voted one since I recall a life as an obscure queen in ancient Egypt. One out of many, many ordinary lives...

Depends on the life. One could've been a famous murderer, for example (which wouldn't exactly be a "comforting" thought).

I suppose she could always do a regression and later check it for historical accuracy.
