Foods and Eating Habits WRT Past Lives

:DBTW Skye are you sure you haven't had a Yorkshire life?

The love of meat in that county!

We knew a couple there, the wife would go off and look around the shops & her husband was more than happy to browse the butcher shop windows. LOL

Afraid I prefer the chocolate shops.

I'm not sure, Starry :) I'm a real amateur with regard to knowing my past lives in detail - but it's worth looking into! I was probably one of the husbands who loved to look at meat, lol.

You probably know this, starry, but sweet potatoes and corn are both foods native to the Western Hemisphere, and associated with indigenous people. Perhaps your preference for them comes from your American life?

Yes I've wondered this also or the Mexican/Spanish one maybe? For none meat lover I enjoy ranch style food.

I've just started to get images of myself in this life. I possibly look most like myself today but as a young man. I've seen myself in an embroidered black cape & immediatley felt Mexican.

I'm a bit obsesive making tea. I have to put water on the tea first & milk in last. This must be deeply ingrained from attemting not to give my real nationality away in German occupied France.

I had to make it the other day & was so long waiting for the kettle to boil I gave in & put the milk in the cups-it felt so wrong!LOL

When I was around 8-10 years old I only really liked salads, vegetables, no heavy meats and fats. If I could choose. If I could I would have been vegetarian then too. I also had a strong pull towards yellow corn, pineapple, coconut. Tropical fruits. And I live in cold Norway. Fresh yellow corn on the stem, boiled and just enjoyed like it is... Heaven! lol I had a few periods when I was a teenager were I almost just ate potatoes. And another with almost just eggs.

Ever since I became a teenager I tend to like anything, but Thai and Greek food is probably what I like the most. We visited Poland some years ago, and I totally fell in love with the food. Its like discovering a new hidden side to yourself.

I never cared much about very spicy food, I do like spices, but not so strong. It always make me seem like a coward to some ppl lol. I am having a growing love for artichokes, in any form. So delicious!

So my food preferance seems to not have much to do with Norway and "kjøttkaker i brun saus", although I like most food here. Irrational fear of food poisioning is also something that has followed me for many years, and at some point I avoided some foods that were prolly perfectly fine.

I live in Ukraine (Eastern Europe), where meat and fat food are the basic meals in the national cuisine. Since my childhood, I always hated meat, favoring plant foods, which delivered many troubles to my parents, who believed that "without meat meals I'll be sick child". When I ate meat in a childhood it always made me hysterical and disgust.

When I started to grow up and prepare food, I noticed that I add a lot of spices in the dishes. No one from my family members could eat what I cook, because the dishes were very spicy.

At my 20’s, I discovered Indian spices and now, I cook dishes with “Indian flavor” very often. I like seafood and fish, do not eat meat at all, don't like sweets. It is very convenient to me to eat with chopsticks, not with fork.

So based on my food preferences, I could say that at least one of my PL was spent in India or neighboring Asian countries))))

My boyfriend as a child had a major issue eating mixed foods or foods that were anything but white in colour. As it turns out, in a past life he was fed a 'nasty tasting soup' as a baby when a castle was taken under siege, which turned out to be poison and ultimately took his life.

I also have a strong dislike for trying new foods and have done since a child. I've always been very afraid that I'll end up having a severe allergic reaction to whatever it is I've been asked to try, despite not suffering from any allergies.

I have known people who couldn't allow their food to "touch". Did he dislike dishes like stews, mixed vegetables, casseroles, etc., because they reminded him of the soup?

That's a strong past life clue.

1) Peanuts are good for you.
2) Most kids like P&J sandwiches.

3) It takes a very long time for P&J sandwiches to spoil at room temperature, making them ideal for school lunches.
I like peanut butter and I like jelly (preserves actually), but not mixed together.

I also have a problem trying new foods, but it's not because of worrying about allergic reaction. Most foods don't even look or smell good to me, and very often my gag reflex will kick in. I've learned it's better to just avoid the foods altogether.

I I don't know if it describes you, Misty, but there are people who are classified as "Super Tasters". They have extremely sensitive taste buds. My husband is one, and it's quite a challenge. I have a feeling your situation is more probably PL related than his.
BriarRose, I have heard about the Super Tasters, and I'm supposing I could be one. I watched a video once where they were trying to help a woman with similar issues to mine. I think colors bothered her, because they took her to a restaurant and got French fries (which she ate) in weird colors like bright red, and she couldn't eat them. She literally broke down in tears from them trying to make her just taste. Colors aren't the issue with me, I would have eaten them (lol), but texture is an issue. Greek Yogurt is an example. I like Yogurt, but I don't like the texture of Greek Yogurt so I won't eat it.

Hmm. I love most fruits including watermelon, but I've never been able to eat cantaloupe or honeydew without feeling nauseous. The closest I can explain it is to say the flavor is cloying or murky.

I also can't stand the flavor or scent of alcoholic beverages, and can detect it at very low percentages. While I *can* drink and seem to have at least a basic tolerance for the substance, the flavor makes even the most delightful carrier unpleasant. Socially unacceptable it may be, but oh well.

Makes me curious, now. Hmm...

Could you have had a "Temperance" background in a PL, Dreamer?

Misty, I, also, have an over-developed "gag" reflex. It is the curse of my existence. I have wondered if that phenomena is PL related.

Lynette,

Move to Western PA .. all of your favorites are here in the woods ... plentiful and free for hunters (with the appropriate license, of course).

Your post reminded me of years ago at a restaurant in NYC with a client. He was shocked that I had eaten venison, grouse, squirrel, bear, grouse and more. He asked where was a restaurant like that where I lived. I smiled at him and said, "Mom's kitchen!" :)

Oh, as for reindeer you are out of luck ... they are here on a farm but that farm is for children to see them :)

Hmm, I'm sensitive to a lot of foods. Dairy, wheat, sugar....many foods cause pain and burning. Wonder why....It's also ruining my life work and personal.

Even though I've never had a severe allergic reaction...I'm afraid of my throat closing up if I try new foods.

Those particular foods are triggering to a lot of people (the most common irritant foods are dairy, wheat/gluten, sugar, soy, peanuts, and corn). They cause inflammatory reactions in most people, some more than others. Cutting those out of my diet has made me feel MUCH better (paleo). In this particular case, it might not actually be a past life. (PSA over!) :)

LMAO, pixarfan. I love your last line - "PSA over"! I think we should all use that when we put general information out there! :D

I tried paleo and I felt better, but I got lazy and stopped....hmmm. I need to follow it again.

It's only occurred to me very recently that I have a terribly bad habit of eating with my hands! 90% of the time I get cutlery out to eat with, I never use it

Be it peas, chicken, noodles, jacket potato, anything! I either use my hands or (with things like noodles) scoop it up with a piece of bread rather than use the cutlery I've taken the liberty to provide myself with. My boyfriend hates it as he was bought up with somewhat strict table manners LOL

I would think that is definitely past life related. Did you do this as a child also?

I wonder what country you were from, Colours? I think eating with the hands is common in many places. India comes to mind. I remember my Dad scooping eggs up with toast, though, and he was from Texas. Do you have any sense of the possibilities?

Little things are piecing together that indicate I may have lived in India :) The main two that I believe relate are my eating habits and my childhood fear of elephants.

I'll be interested to see if I visit the lifetime that these stem from when I have a regression session!

can loosing weight be past life related

Hi

I am writing for the first time so please excuse me if I make some mistake in writing /expressing myself.

By reading this thread, I feel like sharing the weight issue I am struggling with for past more than 20 years. I am 41 now and as long as I remember I am struggling to loose weight.....The issue is bothering so much after marriage as my husband of 15 years has become a fitness freak after may be giving up hope of seeing me slim. My height is 5' 2" and my weight is 80 Kgs, and loosing weight is the only issue in my life which I seem to have no control on....the harder I try to loose weight the more I seem to gain.

I can't stop eating snacks.....

I count myself as a tough and determined person who is working well professionally and solved many big issues both professionally as well as personally, loosing weight is the only thing that I am not able to handle

Many time I sought professional help also but never able to finish the courses offered.

could it be related to some past live or some karmic lesson that me and my husband has to learn in this life.

I feel like the odd bird out now, I'm not all that fond of sweets or pastries - which often contain far too much sugar for my liking but I do love fruit! I try to stick to 'whole' foods as much as possible and try to make as much as I can to avoid all the unnecessary things that go into our diet these days. I think it tastes better and I can definitely feel the difference in my own body.
I can't eat American bratwurst though. Ugg. It's so grainy and...just odd. If I eat wurst it has to be old-world style.
I hate the grainy texture of American Bratwurst too...why I never eat it...I'm more likely to eat Weiswurst because the texture's a billion times smoother...

And I never can stand things that are too sweet.. like..cakes.. I've never been a cake person cept for ice cream cake so- if you manage to make a cake that I'll actually eat and like.. Congratulations.. you made something that's not overly sweet to the point it doesn't taste like mounds of sugar.

I don't know if this is past life related or not- but all my life I've Hated Raisins... why ruin a perfectly good grape by....ICK

Middle Eastern area for me - Arabic, Turkish, Greek - and that's what I will have by choice and often cook things that "nod in that direction" myself.

Love my olives, feta cheese, olive oil to cook everything with, aubergines, peppers. Generally it has to be "spicy" but not "blast your mouth off hot".
