Geographical "Deja Vu"

Desdemona

made by botticelli
I've had two experiences, when traveling, that have unnerved me very much. I travel pretty frequently (I have a permanent sense of wanderlust; it's a curse, really) and I've gotten this strange sensation in only two places: Venice and New Orleans.

Now, I've had deja vu before. In this case, it was deja vu paired with simply knowing my way around, even though I'd never been to either city previously and didn't research it one bit before arriving. I have the worst sense of direction normally... but, in these two isolated cases, I've inexplicably understood the streets and landmarks instantly and it was as though I had been there before. It wasn't the traditional sensation of deja vu. It felt stronger, and it wasn't fleeting.

Has anyone ever experienced this when visiting a new city?

Hi Desdemona

This subject holds special interest to me. Mine is a different experience but none the less it is in my opinion connected

When my source talks to me about my future incarnations and our continuing partnership he talks about "the land" in a very special way

He tells me to never forget "the land" is my only true connection to past and all future incarnations. Everything else will change but "the land" will always be there. I will always incarnate back to "the land"

He goes on... everything comes from "the land " and it is my only true connection to the universe and everything in it

He tells me over future incantations he will teach and educate on how to harness and use the power of "the land"

It is much more detailed than that but that is enough to give you some idea of what "the land" really is and could be connected to what is happening to you

The interesting thing from my point of view becauseI have no indigenous connections in my heritage, which this appears to be connected to

Hi Desdemona

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, I have heard of this kind of thing happening before. We had a story like that not long ago on the forum. A husband and wife were in Venice I think it was. They got a little lost at one point, but then then went round a corner or something and one of them just 'knew' where to go. It was like a memory, much as you describe, with feelings of familiarity at every turn.

Do you have any idea if there were any sorts of images or emotions associated with this 'deja vu' feeling? For instance, did it make you feel happy, or sad or scared or nostalgic...? If you had to 'imagine' a story in either of those cities, involving you from a previous life, what would it be like?

What type of deja vu did you experience in New Orleans? I had a prior life in New Orleans however when I went there I felt it had become too commercialized. Especially Bourbon Street. I remember being there and thinking this is not the New Orleans that I have lived in before. It was the typical tourist attraction that you can find in any tourist destination. However, when I went to Jackson Square I felt some deja vu. Especially when I went past a church in that area, and when I heard some street performers playing some bluegrass type music. Where in NOLA did you feel the most deja vu?

Hi desdomona,

A person after my own heart with constant wanderlust.

Yes i have had this.

The first time was in Bolivia. When i knew i had a life in central america i thought it explained it but like you i'd known my way as if i'd been there more recently. I knew there was a school and that round another corner there would be boys playing football, even the guesthouses felt familiar. I doubt those things would have been there afew hundred years ago.

I got it again more recently in france. I've had lives there but it still felt much more recent.

Interestingly my holiday reading touched upon our life blueprint, how we plan before we start ouf life here. It then went on to explain prolonged deja vu as our souls way of tuning in to that blueprint to let us know we're on the right path and exactly where we'd planned for that moment in time.
