Has Anyone Noticed?

I'm new to the concept of past lives but while thinking about it I realized something potentially significant.
Has anyone noticed that some people seem well adjusted and can fit into any situation while others are completely inept and can't fit anywhere?
Perhaps this isn't merely differences in personalities and could be unconsciously tapping into experiences of former lives. Maybe first timers don't know how to behave yet.
Besides his choice of beer, what makes The Most Interesting Man in the World, the most interesting?

I agree, maybe unresolved issues from past lives make us uncomfortable in the skin we're in, but I wouldn't jump to blame that.

Anyway, what makes people interesting could be all kinds of things, to how they treat others and how much they know. I think those here who have polite and helpful personalities and additionally are intelligent and knowledgeable are very interesting...Although I think "interesting is a matter of personality perspective.

I believe it is the fact he speaks French...in Russian, or is it because he is familiar with the taste of the color nine?

Seriously though...I think there is alot of validity regarding "what we brought with us". Though I also believe we can be front-loaded with awkwardness and faulty mindsets to enable us to live the life planned, and not solely because we are unfamiliar.

I think that can also be related to a traumatic past life. It can be quite difficult to adjust to a new world when your spirit seems to be locked up somewhere a century ago.

Probably our past life experiences have some bearing here, as in our present life we often don't understand what we do or why. Personal preferences come to play here as well, we all seem to be predispositioned toward some favorite endeavor. But the human brain is just as mysterious as the eternal soul, so those deep hidden memories are difficult to access, yet somehow emerge at often random moments to direct our actions.

I wonder about this as well and it's one reason I long to remember a past life. Although I've had nothing more than vague impressions thus far, my gut tells me that my social ineptitude has nothing to do with a past life and furthermore, I was not always this way - in past lives, that is. But rather, this is simply a challenge I have to deal with in this life.

But I also wonder: if I were ever able to remember and connect with one of my previous lives in which I were more 'normal', could I somehow gain some of that ability in this life and thus be able to relate to people more effectively? In other words, could I learn social skills by remembering what I did and what it was like to have them? Sounds reasonable to me.

Actually I was thinking just the opposite. That we learn how to "behave" a little more each time we go around & somehow bring that with us.

I was far better with social skills as a kid than I am now. Back then I cared. LOL I remember several times when I was thinking something and someone else would say it first only to have it bomb & not go over well. I also remember being thankful they screwed up first.

Ever notice that as people get older they get grumpier? I think we are born with only a certain amount of patience & tolerance. As we use that up we get grumpy & bitchy. I used mine up a long time ago. So now when I say "get off my lawn" I really mean it & back it up with threats of violence!

Hi JPariz.

I don't know if social awkwardness is past life related. Perhaps. But isn't everything?

Life/society has been becoming more and more complex for thousands and thousands of years, so there's nothing new about feeling as though you don't fit in. Not everyone fits in, after all. That's life. It's not easy. It never has been. It's always been like this, but without dentistry, indoor plumbing and cable TV. Sure, practice makes perfect, but there's no such thing as perfect.

So ... is there something in particular that is bothering you at the moment? Do you think there is a past life connection? What's going on?

Speaking of awkward moments... I don't understand your question.

The circumstantial evidence far outweighs any other explanation so for the most part I believe there is a connection between myself and Capt. Payne. I just haven't found a way to actually prove it to myself yet. So, if that is what you are asking, yes, it bothers me.

JPariz, I actually found two past lives based, at least initially, on circumstantial evidence. It's not a bad way to begin - but you have more - you have vivid memories. In time, people can make peace with the reality, incorporate what they learned, and move on. I know that isn't true for everyone, but it was for me. Do you have access to the Biography channel? They have a series called "The Ghost in My Child". I would prefer it if they shielded the identities of the children, but it is a convincing program for skeptics to watch. My husband is somewhat skeptical, but Sunday's episode went pretty far in convincing him. It featured a little boy who died in the Twin Towers, a girl who died in the Oklahoma City bombing, and James Leninger, a young boy who remembered being a WWII pilot.

It was that show and episode that brought me here. I about fell over when I saw that. I knew exactly where the kid was coming from. The initial reaction from his parents is what kept me quiet all these years.

I'd like to have a "skeptical contest" with your husband. I'm on the front line fighting this but it's still nearly impossible to dismiss as anything else.

The memories I have of Capt. Payne are in many cases more vivid than some of my own. Maybe it's the shock of it that causes me to pay closer attention. I'd describe it like watching a video clip in my head. Not in a dream state, I'm always fully awake when it happens. Pass the baskets please, I'm ready to start another one.

He is now publicly skeptical, but in private, admits to some belief. I think the secret here is not to fight your situation. Look at it with both an open mind and a logical one. You must know by now, that no one here doubts what you are telling us, or questions your sanity. If you are crazy, then we share your delusion, and there are really intelligent and rational people on this forum. :)

Those three cases were from this forum. If you dig back through the archives you will find the original messages from the parents. Carol Bowman is the one who advised the Leninger's on what to do when James was having the nightmares.

I used to be very socially awkward as a child. Sometimes I still feel a bit ostrasized. I feel very different from a lot of people. I feel very different from those in my family as well.

We are not so different, Obie. We just have different gifts. Some people can draw, others paint. We experience past lives and communicate with those that have passed over. Maybe one day we will be seen as normal, too. But if not be okay with it and use it to help others. :)

Thanks to Sarellah, I discovered that I have the rarest personality type represented in the Myers-Briggs. For me, that explained a lot of my feelings about being different, and the isolation that comes from it. I disguise it well, but the "difference" has always been there. I have actually been okay with who I am for years now, but it was nice to hear a somewhat scientific explanation of my "oddity". LOL

I'm going to have to do this. Always had the feeling of being a bit detached as well. Probably don't appear as I'm quite sociable, I think just to help me "blend" with some of society.
