Holding the hand of a dying man

I have been having several weird and recurring dreams recently, and am not sure what to think of them. I don't know if they are past life, or future life. Usually, it is clear, but with these, I am struggling to decide, so would like to know if any other members might pick up a past or future vibe?!

Perhaps they were triggered by recently losing my own grandmother, but in the dreams, I see myself (or rather, my hands) as an old lady, sat by the bedside of an elderly man. I know he is dying, and dear to me, promising me he will come back. I am holding his hand, but not in anguish that he is leaving, but grateful for the many years of happiness he brought into my life.

At this point I would like to say it is past life related. That the old woman is Catherine, holding Gust's hand - they both lived to quite ripe ages. However, the face of the man is that of someone that I have met in this lifetime. I had only one encounter with this man, and on that encounter immediately knew him as being my Gust from Catherine's life. But from having had dreams of Catherine and Gust in their younger days, I am pretty sure he looked different.

I have also had a couple of dreams of myself in probably late-middle-age, wearing a thick fur-type coat with 'Russian' hat. We are waiting to cross a street, and it looks quite cold out. As we wait, and walk across, I am holding the arm and being guided by a very tall, strong, young man (who I feel to be my son). The clothing could well be of Catherine's life, or it could be modern. Again, it does not give a date away. But I know in Catherine's life she had 7 children, including several sons. While, realistically, given my job in this life, I cannot see myself as having any.

So, I am really quite confused. Add to this, that I 'know' quite definitely, that my son's name is Pieter, but Catherine did not have a son by that name...

Sounds like you're are getting more that one past life in these dreams. That could be why you are confused. Its going to take some time to sort this out. Try writing down the detail of each dream and see what you can make of it.

Traditionally, I think I heard somewhere that when a dying ruler held the hand with someone, it was a sign that the lord chose the young boy being held as the ruler's succesor if he had no heirs to the throne

I don't know why, but I'm thinking "future", but a soon-to-be future. Maybe, next life? Did the energy feel the same as Gust's, and the man you met? I sometimes wonder about parallel lives. I know a few sensible people who are aware of other "realities". It's earth of course, but the lives they are leading are different. My friend dreams of her "other" friends, "other" house, parties she gives, and attends, etc. She is otherwise a sane, down-to earth person.

My thought is that you will have a son in this life named Peter ... and he will be from that life. Peter is Gustav.

I am not is always right but sharing anyway.

Hi Lynette,

I'm so sorry to hear of the recent passing of your grandmother.

I am sure this is the trigger for this. It is likely that this strong present life event has 'reminded' you of several other past (possibly future) partings. This is often the case. Our 'subconscious' (whatever that is, one's 'deep (past/present/future) memory bank' in my view) makes the connection between past, present and future events, even while our "conscious self", our day-to-day self, is still grappling with things in daily life, as it must do and is its job. This is how things are and a good thing. But dreams come to remind us of who we are and what we are doing from time to time, especially at important moments.

The lesson of the dream (if it was my dream, this is how I would interpret it) would be to cherish those who are close to you now, knowing that you will inevitably be parted, but that all such partings are temporary (if painful at the time). Love is eternal and essential though and is never really 'lost'.

I hope this helps.

Blessings to you and your family(s).
