How do you encourage a child to remember?

Hi there, im a new member. I've always believed in reincarnation since i was young, so this topic is not new to me.....but i have been doing a lot of reasearch on it lately, and have a few questions.

First of all, let me tell you what I have noticed over the past few weeks with my two children; I dont know if it is coincidental or not, since I have been doing a lot of reading about the topic, or if its just something I am noticing now because of the openness in my mind.

My daughter just turned 5 and just met a friend of mine the other day. This friend of mine and I both feel that we are "soulmates" but because of things in the way in life, we are not together. We met around a year and a half ago, but he is never around my children. After he left, my daughter told me "I used to be married to him--you were my daughter"...I asked her "what?" and she repeated herself, and then made the statement "When i marry him again, you can be my daughter again, i liked that". A few days later the kids and i were out eating and she said "I remember when you were a little bitty baby--you were so cute". This brought an argument from my son, who said that wasnt possible, because i was her mom....my daughter got quite agitated and insisted that i had "once been in her tummy". Just 2 days ago she was talking to my mother on the phone (unbeknownst to me, i was outside unloading groceries) and my answering machine was recording it. I was shocked to hear her asking about my mothers mom....if she had died, if she was buried.....then she made the statement "Then your mommy will be back" and "your mama will be back soon" and "when she comes back in her mama's tummy she will be born & i'll get to see her" She has made small statements in the past about being a mother and things like that but i never connected it.

Now, about my son....he has been learning about Martin Luther King in school (he is 7) and came home one afternoon, and seemed to me to be simply floored...and made a statement "i cant believe they got this far" (referring to the black people and their struggle for equality)....he acted as if this was just amazing to him, and kept shaking his head. Later on that week he said to me when he was taking a bath "mama, did you know when we were slaves, they cut off our toes so that we couldnt run away?" this shocked me, but i was calm and said "really?" he replied with "don't you remember?" and then went on taking his bath. a few minutes later i heard him singing "i was a black slave" 3 or 4 times.

My question is for you, how would you encourage your children to remember their past lives, without placing suggestions? do you pick up on a moment they seem to be remembering? I am very interested in finding out more of their memories, if they are such. It seems to me certain things in their lives have brought back these possible memories to them, i don't think its the power of suggestion, although that could be the case. ANY information would be greatly appreciated!

Also...do you know if most towns have some sort of past-life regression therapy, or mostly larger cities? how would you find a past life regression therapist?

Welcome to the forum imamama2ru,

If you open the adult section - you will find a link for how to find a reputable regressionist in your area.

Have you read either of Carol's Books regarding children memories - and what to look for?

Do your children like to draw? Perhaps ask them to draw you a picture of what they mean next time and then ask them to explain the picture. Art can bring out some of the small details. :)

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I will look forward to your posts.

What wonderful stories. Aren't children amazing in what they can teach us?

I would suggest that when they bring up the subject, ask open ended questions. Things like "do you remember where we were when that happened?". Repeating their statement back at them as a question can sometimes bring more information too.

I'd like to add to Deborah's idea on art by suggesting that when they draw those pictures, write down what they tell you and put both the pictures and explanations into a scrapbook that can be added to if and when they remember more. That way the scrapbook itself may trigger memories as you go through it together and when they are older, they will enjoy seeing what they remembered when they were young.

Hi imamama2ru and welcome! If I recall correctly, Carol comments in her first book that a parent's openness and awareness of reincarnation often sets the stage for a child to begin telling PL stories. So what you've noticed isn't unusual.

Loved the story about your "soulmate" friend and what your daughter said about him!. It's fascinating what people will say and do when PL triggers come up.

But, back to your kids - your son's mention of the toes was interesting - you may want to ask him an open-ended question about how he knew that, what name he answered to in that lifetime, etc.

Sounds like you could have some interesting stories ahead! Like Chelle said, write them down!

Hi! Welcome to the forum. :)

The biggest advice I can give to you is to open with an open mind, and an open heart. Your post is fascinating ... I would love to hear more.

Be careful not to try to sway them, just ask the questions .. and write down what you can. I am amazed now when I go back and see how far we have come ...

You might want to tell them to be careful who they say that too, also ... most people do not feel like we do. Make sure they know you love and support them. Knowing that no matter what, they have the strength of their mother backing them will mean alot.

I wish you all the best in your journey of knowledge. Buckle up ... you're in for quite a ride ;)

how do you encourage a child to remember

When my oldest son told me of his most vivid memory, he was 21 years old. He had been really mad at me for researching pl memories and kept telling me it was wrong to do so. One morning I was sitting on the sofa after I got out of bed and he got up out of bed and came and sat down beside me. I looked at him and he was shaking and had tears streaming down his face. I asked him what was wrong, and he looked straight ahead and his voice was quiet and calm.

He began describing a battle in the jungle of Viet Nam. He told me the name of the group he was with, the location in the jungle, and the kind of land mine that exploded underneath him and the names of the soldiers that were killed. He said " Mama, it blew my arms and legs off." I held him in my arms and let him cry, and I cried with him. He has always been terrified of being in the military. He did exceptionally well on the tests that the military gives to high school students, and they called at that time every single day trying to recruit him.

They still call at least once a week. He told me that he was sorry for being so hard on me about pl memories. He also chooses not to tell me of any more memories that he has had. He knows my arms are always open, and that I always have an open mind. Another of my terrors was that my sons would have to go to war. Any rumblings of wasr on the news absolutely terrified me.

I thought I was going to lose my mind when George Sr. declared war on Iraq in 1991. My youngest son was only a few days old. When George Jr. declared war on Iraq the 2nd time, I understood where my fears came from and although I was afraid just like every other American, I didn't feel like I was holding on to my sanity by a thread.

Hello, this is also my first post on this site. My guess is, your children will always have these memories. I have, ever since, well forever, and they've never gone away. I've read a few books on hypnosis, and I've tried alot of methods of regression on family members, but the one that worked best was when I told them to just concentrate on a memory for a moment, and they got a lot out of it.

Your child's memory

Wow. Re: Your sons tears streaming, his memory. Thank you for sharing this story, his story! What a history! My question: Is 'remembering' all that is neccessary to find a cure? I mean, what a traumatic reality, to have 'in the past' --such a history, such a 'memory' of such a traumatic event. Do these things come up for 'redemption'--for cure?

How can such a 'memory' be cured might be my question. Cured? For what purpose do these memories arise? To find resolution, comfort, 'cure' ? Healing the inner soul record, memory... To not get stuck in the terror, in the horror of it all. How can one 'forgive' the past? How can history not repeat itself? My son, was born at 1:42 PM December 7th, 1990. My father was in the middle of the Pacific Theator in the heat of the battle in WWII during the years of 1942 through 1945 as a United States Marine Corps young marine at the age of 17, 18, 19.

He is currently 82 years old. Only now, do his 'memories' surface, even from this life, in a way he can speak about them, and make sence of them, and study them, and give wisdom to them--purpose. Purpose? Teachings for today--for my son. I asked my father: How did you survive, when the ten thousand other young men did not. (In the Philipines in the liberation of Manilla, etc) His answer... I will save this for another post

There, by the Grace of God go I. Even my son. He has a warrior spirit. I hope to God he is not recruited by the Marine Corps. He rides his bicycle with a United States Marine Corps emblem (stickers) on it. I tell him the honor of that, but, express my concern about the war we are now engaged in... I am really not for the draft. There is a movement of mothers against the draft --
God bless humanity!

Again, I am so glad to hear your story! Can your son write down his story. Maybe, as his mom, you can write down his story, and publish it in book form. I know I need to write my fathers' story--at least help him write his. (Before he dies!--in THIS LIFE!--for my sons sake now, and for generations to come. For reasons yet to be discovered!) Carols new book entry--perhaps. (Memories from past wars; killed in action.) Yikes.

The purpose? Healing. Bravery? Fearlessness? Abortion, I believe, is not a good idea. My personal opinion--given the givens of all life, love, healing, lifes-calling, purpose. :)

The best advice I can give you is to believe in them ... and ask open ended questions. My mother in law has suggested that my child needs medicated.

I reminded her that she is medicated ... and she should never attack our religious views, as we have never attacked hers.

That's probably why she never calls anymore ... ha ha ha :)

Sorry, but when it comes to my children ..... you know how it is :)
