How has remembering a PL affected your current life?

For example; when my daughter was about 4 years old, I had recently divorce and started a new carreer. I was very stressed out, unsure if I was able to work full time, be a single parent and still be the kind of mother I wanted to be. How could I give her enough time and attention? I was lying there in bed thinking (worrying) about this, when it was like a voice spoke to me in my head and said "you have done it before, and you can do it again!".
Then I had this vision of standing at a door and watching two teenagers a boy and girl walking down the sidewalk with some friends. They are going ice skating and are carrying their skates. I think to myself that they are almost grown, and will be such fine adults. Good, honest, hard working people. I think my husband would have been proud of them. I had tried hard to do everything as we would have together if he had lived. I feel like I had realized our dreams, in part, for him. He had gone off to war and not come home.
Obviously, I would have been fine without this information. I would have carried on and done what I had to do, but it did give me comfort and courage.
Has anyone had an experience like this, where experiacing a PL memory has helped make decisions or changed the path they had been on?

Thanks for sharing Wonder!

Amazing story & connection. I think whenever we remember past life memories, it is because we are supposed to learn/gain something from them. For you, it was encouragement that you had the strength you needed. You would have gone on without that memory, but maybe because you had it you were able to cope better.

Not exactly a single memory but reincarnation in general, actually, I pretty much shape my life around reincarnation. Because of past lives I met my actual partner, because of past lives I changed careers (there were other reasons involved besides it, but I wanted to know if I would get more memories if I would study the same). Every time I need to make an important decision I think "Would I like to remember this in a future life?"

No specific incidents come to mind at the moment, but yes, PLs have helped me make decisions in this life. It's also kept me from stressing out about the current political situation in the world today. I've seen it all many times before. Dictators come and dictators go, be they savage brutes or "tin Hitlers", and when they start throwing their weight around and good people do nothing, well, nations and civilizations come and go as well.

I have a small example. Once I had a PL dream, where at a certain point in that life, I was taken to a hospital severely ill, after loosing a baby a few days after its birth, and two other children shortly afterwards due to some disease that swept through the town, maybe even through the country. I was in a bad condition, both mentally and physically.

There came a woman cleaning my hospital room, and she was very compassionate and friendly to me. I recognised her as someone who is today living in our town, she is a few years younger than me, went to the same school, and although I don't know her any better, she still always says hello when I meet her in town. We never were friends, or changed more than a few words, she is just a 'constant' for me in this town.

After that dream, I realized how connected all people are. This Soul, whom I briefly met in that past life, is present in my current life also, again only as part of my surroundings so to speak. But yet, she is there, in the same space and time as I am. How wonderful is that?

This experience made me intensely feel the interconnectedness of all people, it sharped my awareness I think.

Eevee,

Thank you for sharing that. I have a question, in the past, before you realized your PL connection with her, did she give you a feeling of comfort when she was around even if you did not interact, or perhaps did her presence make you feel sorrowful or uneasy?

It really is cool that you share the same breathing space, so to speak. I wonder if sometime in the future your paths will cross and that is why you recognized her?

Hi Mama2HRB,

I cannot say I ever got any special feelings when seeing her. Only maybe a bit of pleasant surprise when she smiles and says hello or nods her head. She is a schoolteacher now, but on the other side of town, not in the school that my children attended. I don't know much about her adult life, only that she seems never to have moved elsewhere (like me).

Yes, I think it is very well possible that we will meet again in a future life, and I guess a lot of people who's presence I just take for granted, might be part of my future and past, only most of us don't realize that I think.

Dr. Doolittle, I presume?

I can't help, but thinking that I was at one time, in a Past Life, someone connected with the "Healing or Helping Arts", I retired several years ago from a "Helping and/or Healing Profession" and as a child, I rounded up stray, homeless, ill or injured animals in my neighborhood and my back yard looked like the movie set for "Dr. Doolittle".

My poor, sainted and suffering Grandmother never knew what to expect when she hung our laundry on the back yard clothes lines, what with holes dug in the ground like foxholes of WWII, filled with cooling water for the animals or alligators in the fish pond or perhaps in the large bathtub in the house.

In spite of having to retire early because of sickness, the illness that finally took me out, could have been much, much worse (even fatal) than what it was, and if Karma does exist, I believe that I'm being repaid for my years of service to others, if anything it's a comforting thought!!!

And in case this post gets misunderstood, I'm not bragging at all, just stating the facts. :)

Last night I was having trouble sleeping, and had an incredible realization regarding a connection between my WWII past life, and my current life. I was regressed back in August, and it has taken me this long to figure out the correlation. I have struggled with anxiety & depression for a long time. I actually came to the realization because I asked myself, "why am I always miserable, I really want to change!"

The thoughts lead me back to my troubled childhood, where I was never loved or wanted. I was judged by my extended Christian family and the church we attended for many reasons. I remember countless times wishing to be elsewhere. I felt exactly like the little girl in Les Miserable. No wonder I love the song Castle on a Cloud. My father was horrible. He took all his worldly troubles out on me. I was nobody, I was a girl, I obviously meant nothing to him. He would abuse me from time to time for very little reason, which he'd somehow justify. I did not live with him, but he had custody of me, and had myself and my brother living with his mother and father. My father could do no wrong in their eyes, so when he abused me, it was ok. It felt as if my father only came around when things were not going his way, and he would find something to discipline me for. One of the strongest reactions I ever had to his abuse was when he pinned me to the floor and spit on my face and continued to say, "this is how they do it in the military, you will learn." I screamed like I had never screamed before. I didn't care who heard. He left, and I looked at my face. It had little red dots all over it. My grandmother, or possibly my mother (she was around occasionally), took me to the ER and I swore I had an allergic reaction to his spit, but I actually burst all the blood vessels in my face from screaming.

So this morning around 2 AM, I had the biggest revelation of my entire life. My childhood was like reliving the war, where I had lost my life. Where my life was robbed from me. The difference is, this time, I survived.

All I could hear in my head was, "the war is over, and you survived!"

It was like a huge weight had been lifted. I have dwelled on my childhood for so long. I have felt sorry for myself for an eternity. I have felt sorry for my father for so long. At that point, I tried to go back and picture my childhood, and all I could see was a door slamming shut.

I finally saw purpose in my childhood, and it was no longer about not having good parents, or love etc. It was about a personal journey that has made me that much stronger. I am so proud of myself.

I am hoping now that I will no longer feel the need to self medicate, and I will now have the ability to find happiness in daily living. Not constant worry and misery.

Wow, this is a great thread.

For me, the answer is absolutely. Though I don't remember probably everything that I'd "like" to (maybe I really wouldn't like to, and my higher self knows better when and if to release this information). For example, much like hoping4change, I've always had a difficult relationship with one of my parents, in my case with my mother. I've no doubt it there are past life issues between us, but at the current time I can't remember them.

One thing I do know is that I started remembering certain scenes from past lives right around puberty, which makes sense because most of my past lives have been male, and I've always felt kind of awkward with my femininity in my current female body. If I didn't remember that I had past lives that were male I probably would have felt cheated, "born in the wrong body" and not as likely to more fully explore the more feminine aspects of my character, which have always been there -- my tendency to be emotional and nurturing, for example. I'm really glad I had that world view, otherwise I might have thought something was seriously wrong with me.

Past life memories can explain a lot of things that wouldn't make a lot of sense otherwise. But I think people have to be ready for this knowledge, and then it will come. In that instance, its just as valuable as regular memory. It helps you understand where you're coming from, and that makes deciding and moving to where you're going so much easier.

I can definitely relate to what you're saying, Shiftkitty, in that I recognize the signs of a coming societal turbulence probably more readily than others, but that just makes me all the more eager to act rather than just chill out and understand it's part of a cycle, or the grand scheme of things. I understand that it is that as well, but in the meantime I want to be part of the solution.

I wonder if this is the case with Transgendered people? It would be interesting to have them do a past life regression.

I have often thought that sexual dysphoria and BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder) might be successfully treated with past life therapy.

All it would take is some open-minded volunteers and one or more researchers. Helen Wambach would have been ideal for it.

Treasure the children...

In more than one of my pastlives and in this life also, I have lost children, either through the death of a child or through my early death as a mother. Knowing this has helped me be more aware of all the "little" things that all "my" children (before I retired I was a teacher) have done and to appreciate, value and treasure these little souls because in the back of my mind I know how fast they can be taken from us!!! One of my greatest joys in this life has been watching my daughter grow into a fine young woman, and now seeing her daughter beside her...wonderful!!!

For me, the realization that my arcane interests and left-field inclinations, or my unexpected understandings or out-of-the blue accurate postulates are sourced through knowledge I have not attained in this lifetime provides a sense of confidence. If I believed I was "one and done", or ascribed to the popular "YOLO", my thoughts upon obtaining inspiration from sources outside those I recognized would all be suspect and my conversation (to say the least!) would be dramatically curtailed.

The effect of remembering past lives and being able to graft a sense of continuity through those lives to this one enable me a firm basis on which to construct a world view that takes into account "outside" sources and influences for living this lifetime in a more full and complete manner. It also has the positive effect, in large part, of taking the sting out of death...having re-lived many of my prior deaths and only sensing benefit and relief from the experiences, my remaining concerns are solely based in a human sense of loss.

How my past life helped me...

Hey all! I just wanted to take a chance and contribute a wee bit to this thread. I once remembered a past life where I committed a terrible murder, and after recalling it, I was fairly shaken. Anyone who knows me in this life knows that I'm kind, caring and a pacifist and would never do such a thing. For the longest time, I put it out of my mind with a "we always have a choice; that was then, this is who you choose to be now" mentality. Recently, however, my company flew me out to Alberta to work for a few months and while there I had a chance to study both paganism and my past lives a little further and I came to a different conclusion. Paganism has the idea that we have to accept all aspects of ourselves, good and bad, in order to truly progress and grow as people in this life. I think the reason I was shown my violent past life was so that I could start making progress along that path of acceptance. I feel more at peace now than I ever did before because I've learned both the best and worst sides of myself and am now free to choose my own destiny. I kind of feel like my karmic debt is repaid actually! :)

I am glad you have found information that helps you to overcome issues from that past life. It sounds like you did, indeed learn from your actions then.

It's Ying and Yang with me.

I more knowlegeable than most I talk too

but at same time held with fear .

seeing into your past is scary at first

but you just have to accept it.

bad or good.

Over the last three months, I've really been digging into my past lives, but one more than others. That particular lifetime I've written about here frequently. It has shed quite a bit of light onto my relationships with men and my feelings about them in general. I have learned a lot about why I have some of the extreme reactions I do toward certain kinds of men and situations. The woman I was in this past life died young, but went through some very damaging moments in her short lifetime. I still feel that I have much to learn from her, and I intend to keep discovering more. So much of her has crept into my current lifetime.

I know exactly what you mean Seagreen.

Yes, I'm sure that remembering various past life incidents has changed my thinking about various life choices. Sometimes subtly. Others less so. There have been occasions when some memories have suddenly forced themselves into my attention and when I've figured them out, pondered on their meaning and reviewed the lesson, I've chosen differently. This is a very useful tool in life if one could only learn to master it!

seagreen, I think that if we can accept who we were in a past life, and the things we did, it is easier to do the same with the lives we are living now. People who believe in past lives seem to me to be people of conscience, and prone to critical, and intelligent, self-examination. I think that is why the last several months have been so successful for you.

I was 100% self-destructive and self-loathing and when I looked into my past life memories I did a 180 and completely decided to start over.

The previous lifes I had. Came with a deep distrust of men

and women. I have huge trust issues.

And sucidal every once and awhile.

Both my past lifes were destructive.

Past life memories can be disturbing at first (I know). But they can also be a great source of healing. Many present life phobias and anxieties can be come to terms with once you realize the source of them happened hundreds of years ago. It can put things in this life into better perspective too.

There's a great thread on Healing Past Lives that I recommend to anyone feeling a little overwhelmed by it all.

My mom has the same thing; she thinks the origin of her anxiety comes from a past life.

I hope my personality problems and emotional/thought disorders don't carry over to my next life. I need to work on them now

Acessing a few past lifes has explained certain "quirks" that I have that otherwise would be unexplainable. One day I would like to get a regression done as I know my present life sinus and allergy problems are linked with a death in a past life. I can't seem to get to that death on my own though. I can get to the aftermath but not the death itself. Would also like to acess why I can't stand anything around my neck. No turtlenecks or scarves, thanks. Necklaces are fine. Regression: On my list of things to do when I have the cash...

How do you mean Shadows?
A science teacher I had told me to look at your third

in the mirror for awhile I did . You could

see your past life.

I saw myself as women with brown wavey hair p

parted in the middle and thin face.

It was just for few seconds.

I find it unsettling this was over 20 years ago.

The image doesn't show very often.

This way sound weird and pure fantasy it's

not.

If knew a good portrait artist it would flesh

out what I seen.

I know said I was looking pictures what I looked

in the 20's. It doesn't bother me as much.

As what I metioned above.

Yes, that's actually one technique for bringing on a past life memory. If you stare at yourself in a mirror for a long time in dim light you can sometimes get images of other faces looking back at you in the mirror. It can be a bit startling of course. It can be a bit unsettling if what you see is something a little frightening, which can happen.

However, what to do with these experiences, rather than react with fear, is to react with curiosity. Who is this person? What are they trying to tell me? Is there something I'm trying to remember? Is there a lesson here for me?

Have you tried some meditation techniques to retrieve past life memories Shadows? It's nothing to be afraid of. It can be very therapeutic once you can put a past life trauma into perspective and wave it good bye.
