How should I deal with an acquaintance who might be the reincarnation of a celebrity?

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum, although I have been looking at it for years and have been interested in reincarnation for longer than that. I am always very impressed by the discussions that go on here.

Although I would eventually like to explore my own possible past lives, first, I have a question.

I have an acquaintance/friend - I'll call her "Caroline" - who reminds me a lot of an Italian-French singer who died in 1987 (Caroline was born in 1993). This singer is not that popular in the United States, so I just learned about her recently. However, the first time I saw a video of this singer performing, I immediately thought of Caroline. She looks very similar to and has many of the same facial expressions as this singer. I don't know all that much about Caroline, but I do know that she decided to study Italian in college. I want to ask her why she decided to learn Italian to see if she says anything that would reveal more similarities between her and this singer. However, I want to make sure that I don't influence her response in any way. How should I go about this?

Caroline seems like a person who would be very open to the idea of reincarnation, so I should not be afraid of telling her that I think she might be the reincarnation of this singer. However, there is a problem: this singer committed suicide and had many other negative things happen in her life. If Caroline really is the reincarnation of this singer, I would not want to hurt her by reminding her of this painful life. But I know there are also benefits to remembering the pain of past lives. What should I do? Should I let Caroline know that she might be the reincarnation of this singer, even if it could hurt her?

Of course, I know that most people are not the reincarnations of celebrities, so chances are Caroline is not either. But I was so struck by their similarities that I really wish I could investigate this possibility further.

Welcome to the forum.


Just a resemblance on its own is not enough to suggest reincarnation. Sure, sometimes people resemble their previous selves, but lots of people resemble people. It could be that she is a distant relative of some kind perhaps?

You could try something like showing her a Youtube or something and saying 'I saw this and wow, she really looks like you, don't you think?'. She might find it interesting at least. It might spark her to think of something herself? Or it might not.


Personally I'd say nothing about reincarnation. This kind of thing tends to make people uncomfortable and sometimes afraid. If she should bring it up, great. If not, I'd leave it alone.
 
I agree with Tanguerra on a lot of points. Especially that resemblance is not enough to go on to say that she was the reincarnation of this singer. In fact, I wouldn't bring it up to her at all (the singer at least). She has her own path, her own spiritual growth, and her own needs. You are probably in her life for a reason, so I think bringing up your own curiosity in reincarnation is fine and see where it goes from there. If she is open to it, then great, continue discussing it! But telling her you think she is this singer could be damaging to her own spiritual and past life journey as it may hinder any progress she tries to make in the future of finding out who she was. She needs to make conclusions about her own information and her own findings about herself. You are only there to help her along the way.

I thing Tanguerra's advice is great. Just show her a picture of the singer and show her that you think the resemblence is similar and jsut leave it at that. Perhaps you were brought into your friends life so she can explore the concept of reincarnation, who knows. Are there parallels btw your friends life and the singer's?

I forgot to say that my friend's long-term boyfriend looks a lot like this singer's lost lover (he committed suicide before she did), but maybe I am just imagining that he does in the hope that she really is the reincarnation of this singer and they have been reunited. But I agree that there are many reasons for a similar appearance besides a past life.


I do not know this friend all that well, so I am not sure how many other similarities there are between her and this singer. However, they both seem like very sensitive souls (or maybe the same sensitive soul!), so I guess that's another reason that I shouldn't tell my friend who I think she might have been in a past life.


And yes, this friend does like singing, but I think she realizes that her voice is not anything special (in this life at least), so she doesn't sing as a real hobby.
 
That's interesting. Singing, like everything else, takes practice. Great voices are usually the result of lots of practice from a young age and usually lessons too, not just an accident. So, who knows? If she was interested in practising, she could probably be a great singer too.


People often hang around in 'soul groups' and meet up again with their former friends and family. It's possible that if these people are the reincarnations of who you think they might be that you knew them then too? How did you first come to learn about this singer and why are you so interested in this do you suppose?
 
Good question, tanguerra. Unfortunately, I don't feel like I actually knew this singer in a past life. Most likely though, I was a fan of hers in my most recent past life. I am always looking for "new" music to listen to, so I just discovered her while looking for French singers. This singer was a gay icon, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, and I always wind up becoming obsessed with singers who were/are gay icons, even though I normally am not aware of their gay icon status before I start listening to them. I have reason to believe that I might have been a gay or even transgender male in my last past life - but I guess that story belongs in another thread. I am a woman in this life though, and proud of it!
