Here's an example of the most vivid one.

It was like a movie, although I was in it. It seemed to me to be set in India, or maybe here just with an Indian family.

I was rich, master of the household, and I was in love with a woman who I couldn't be with for one reason or another. I was married, I think - and I had this other woman in the home posing as a servant so that we could be together.

I don't remember the specific details because it was a few years ago...I just remember there was a lot of deception and sneaking around. I don't believe this woman and I ever actually got to be together, because it was impossible. I remember being very sad about it when I woke up.

I have quite a few dreams which feature women that don't exist in real life but whom I'm very passionate about in the dreams. Maybe that's because that's something I've never experienced in "real life." I've never experienced being in love and having it returned. That may be why it's so powerful in these dreams.

Beachboy,

It's probably different for everyone, but if I have a dream like that - set in a different country/era with "strange" people - they seem to be always PL related. But maybe someone with a vivid imagination could have dreams like that being sheer fantasy.

About your earlier question on how to find a regression therapist in your area, please read through this thread.

Well a vivid dream, which you recall easily on waking and which carries such an emotional punch - so that you feel sad when you wake up - would sound suspiciously like a past life dream to me too BeachBoy. Thanks for sharing your story.

I would be very interested to hear about the results of a regression if you get it done and see if these dream 'movies' might be more than you think.

I've never experienced being in love and having it returned. That may be why it's so powerful in these dreams.
It could also be some sort 'karmic' message your subconscious is trying to alert you to. It might be that you have a thing or two to learn about love and fidelity in this life first? That is another possible explanation.

Hi all:

I am either meditating or falling asleep. lately, I see a "scene" the minute I close my eyes. I was born with a type of clairaudiance. Regarding PL recalls, I either hear a voice label a scene by saying a few words or whisper " look here". The other night, I saw a large woman that was mopping a floor. She looked like a servant. The voice immediately said " scullery maid." Last night was the first time, I heard someone crying or whimpering. The whimpering was not coming out of my voice but I was feeling the emotion. The crying woke me up and made me very upset. I don't know how to really explain that.

thank you

I recall PL scenes through dreams, meditation, and triggers, which can be sound, smell or visual.

The dreams are more vivid than regular ones, and always leave an emotional after-effect, sometimes for days. Also sometimes I get mixed dreams, meaning past life events get mixed with regular dream scenes. It sometimes takes a while to unravel those, because an event that seemed to be reasonably impossible to have happened in a PL, later can proove indeed to be PL related.

Sometimes in meditations the memories come spontaneously and very clear, but it can happen that when I try to meditate to find out more about a particular PL, or a connection with someone or so, I get the feeling that I have to dig real deep to make the memories surface. I am able though to discern them from fantasy images or wishful thinking or whatever. My heart/soul knows and feels what is real.

I once attended a group regression, and got some memories then also, but I agree with what has been said in this thread before, that the spontaneous memories, or the ones that come from self-regression through meditation, feel more real than those that surfaced by the questions of the regressionist. The memories during the group regression felt more like 'facts' that I remembered, while the memories I get otherwise are mostly 'emotional'. The spontaneous memories lead me to scenes or connections that give me 'feelings' in my heart or stomach region (chakra-related?).

I recall most of my past life memories spontaneously, and usually first thing in the morning or last thing at night, when I'm laying in my bed in that half awake/asleep state. Often I'll receive the memories in a sudden burst that only lasts for a few seconds, but contain an enormous amount of detail, like knowing an entire short story in an instant.

My most detailed memories however have come to me via the guided and unguided regression cd's, they allow me to transport myself within the memory as if I'm actually there in the moment, playing the part of my former self as the memories unfold.

I've also had a few memories triggered by certain events in my everyday life, it could be a facial expression, or a certain posture that reminds me of how I did the same thing in my past life, or certain things that I see remind of things I've experienced before.

There have also been one or two instances where I've heard a loud voice in my mind, as a few others before me have mentioned, but whether they were past life related or not, I'm not so sure.

I started out using recorded regression exercises. Now I try to meditate. The problem I run into when I try to meditate is I always seem to fall asleep. I haven't gotten much out of dreams because I almost never remember them.

Personally as for myself it is a mixture of spontaneous experiences with also imprinting / instant knowing. On the spontaneous experiences it could be many various things like just seeing a tepee or such that will suddenly bring a flashback to a past life. I was just in Cody, Wy. at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center of where I saw an old American Indian Doll in the display which immediately brought back flashbacks to an Native American past life.

But also at times have had some dream which is past life related. I need to keep track of my dreams so much more then what I do. Just last night I had another dream that went back to a past life in which I was in the American Revolutionary War.

Also thru the years I have learned to meditate and go into what I call the Sacred Silence. But most of what happens in my meditations is this present life related. I have never had a self-guided or professional past life regression. But have seriously thought of having a professional past life regression though.

I have experienced my past lives so far through:

Past Life Dreams

Self-guided Regression

Spontaneous Experiences

Imprinting/Instant Knowing

Dreams seem to be my strongest connection, I have had dreams so powerful that they are rather disorienting upon awakening, because they were so real I thought what happened in the dream really happened. (which it did, just in another time).

I have attempted self-guided regression several times using one of Brian Weiss's regression CDs. So far I have only seen pieces of memories I've already seen, prehaps they are the easiest to view because I've already 'been there' more recently?

As for the other two, I have had several flashbacks during broad daylight that left me with a strong 'knowing' beyond any doubt that what I just saw was not my imagination, but a past life - because I have (or would never) imagine something like what I have seen.

That's me anyway, it's very interesting to see how others experienced their past life memories. I was surprized that past life dreams were voted on the most. I will be interested to see what other members have to say on this great thread!

For me it would be a number of things:

Dreams

Visions/Flashbacks (while wide awake and often while doing mundane things)

Inner Knowing

Synchronicity/Coincidence (this concerns the physical world)

and the one OBE that I had.

I use almost all except mediums and psychics and dreams; I'm very careful with these uses as they aren't always right and sometimes they'll even con you. And I get very little or no dreams at all and mostly are nonsense nightmares.

I had a lot of flashbacks recently as I have an examination and while waiting for the time period to end, it is quiet and all form of weird memories are able to flash to me. I just go into my subconscious and try to get it. These flashes are scaring me. Mostly voice hearing but sometimes I get the whole scene.

I went with meditation, dreams, self-regression and instant knowing.

Meditation and self-regression I can find a bit hit-and-miss (sometimes the expectation of possibly seeing something can act as a 'block') but I've had some successes using those techniques. Self-regressions can work, but I usually feel like I'm making it all up. I find simple meditation, eg listening to CDs of tibetan bells whilst stilling my mind and focusing on my heart, is more successful for me, but I really have to be very still before information can bubble up this way. The information also has more scope for being accessed, eg in a self-regression 'visual' is the main way to get memories, but in plain meditation, it can be visual, or auditory, words in the mind or any number of other ways!

Instant knowing is hard to explain, but the emotions and depth of the 'knowing' is hard to argue with! This is most likely to happen when I'm slightly distracted, like when walking to work, or asking a mental question/pondering an aspect of a PL whilst busy doing something else; the answers will just pop into my head as clear as day! Sometimes I will wake up with words in my mind which will later check-out as PL related.

PL dreams I tend to trust most as they come unexpectedly, from 'left field' as some might say, and can leave me very emotional for days after. They are often also very vivid. In the same way, sometimes I get PL information, impressions or memories, when falling asleep (i.e. entering the alpha state)

Although I didn't tick it, I do sometimes get external voices 'speak' in my auditory nerves, but only rarely, and they haven't yet provided PL information

I have the same experience as helz - I hear voices, or other sounds, that affect the auditory nerve, but I've never gotten PL information that way. It always occurs when I'm asleep. I get practical directions, like "wake-up!", or I'm given instructions to help someone. I have often been awakened by the doorbell ringing, but there is never anyone there. Now that I know more, I realize that was probably the start of an OBE, and the sound pulled me back. It will be interesting to see if others receive PL information through voices.

Past life dreams -

I get these but the details are often mixed with other lives, my current life, and random dream imagery. Details often differ from the actual past life in question (and I'm usually able to pick out which details come from which life, probably through instant knowing) . It's just how, with any dream, experiences end up mashed together. However, I'll rarely have dreams which show events as they happened. These are usually more lucid but don't last as long.

Instant knowing -

I get this a lot. I do this with recalling the way life was like in a past life. I'm currently writing a novel that takes place in a time and area I lived before. As I'm writing, I don't have time to check every single historical detail. So, I'll often "guess" which is actually just me drawing upon the instant knowledge. And it turns out there's a lot I remember about daily life. When I do get around to checking things, the vast majority checks out. Really handy for writing a historical novel. :-P

I have this instant knowledge about my relations to people and thoughts I had at the time, just various things.

It's very spotty with certain lives but very strong with others.

Spontaneous experiences -

I perceive spontaneous memories, usually triggered by something. Hearing a song, seeing an object, watching period films, seeing someone who looks like someone.

My memories are not always incredibly clear. Sometimes, sometimes not.

Self-guided regression -

I've tried this a couple times but I feel like I put too much pressure on myself when I do it and I start questioning whether things are real or not. It feels too forced when I do it. For some reason, I feel like I just need to let all the remembrance come to me naturally. However, I often initiate recalling "instant knowledge"...and yet that doesn't bother me. If it's there, it's there. If it isn't, it isn't. I guess I just don't feel as much pressure with the instant knowledge due to the whole 'instant' aspect.

I often get very hazy memories/feelings triggered by sights, sounds and smells.

Today in passing I took a good look at a church that I've passed countless times before but never really looked at and I had a very strange sensation that was somewhat a mixture of panic and familiarity, mostly resonating from the glowing cross in the window.

I also often have strange feelings and memories linked with other memories. For example not long ago a few people I knew were talking about oat cakes/biscuits and I had remembered having these at some point in my life, but the taste, smell I remembered at the time was nothing like the ones I had eaten. I was sure they were very sweet and honey was a big factor, squishy also, it was odd because I detest honey

Just reviving this older, interesting thread, as the topic of how we receive past life information has come up recently. As this poll shows there is no 'right', 'wrong' or 'normal' way to receive past life information!

It's nothing more than a mortal perception that our pure self/spirit and/or soul remembers individual past lives of physical entities they have occupied

It's more likely that to the spiritual side of us the next incarnation is always only the second.

Countless memories and experiences from countless physical bodies they have occupied are all rolled into one, making there next incarnation always the second

Believing which physical body they were occupying when knowledge and memories occurred and learnt is important to them makes no sense

The way I found out about my PL [1928-1942] was when I visited Auschwitz, the one that's now a museum with my mother. I walked in and ran out screaming not ten minutes later. I knew details I shouldn't have known.

A few months later, I spoke with a woman who had survived Auschwitz and she apparently had known me when I was there. Our stories matched perfectly. She'd actually witnessed my death and was the one who suggested I might have PLs.

What an amazing story. I guess that would make a believer out of you. Welcome to the forum. :)
