I suddenly tasted what my kids were drinking at that moment

An odd thing happened to me the other day. I tasted eggnog. But, I wasn't drinking eggnog. I was folding laundry in the bedroom. Then I noticed that my kids had poured some eggnog in the kitchen and were drinking it.

I tasted it very strongly, for just a few seconds. I doubt I could smell eggnog from that far away!

Was that a psychic sort of thing? Does that happen to people often? I don't think I am super psychic but I have had some other incidents of knowing things (especially connected to my younger sister). I've never had a "psychic taste" experience before!

That's really interesting. I wonder if somehow you smelled it and you had a memory of the taste? It has such a specific taste that you can't miss it. :)

I think you have been psychic all of your life but didn't know it. What kind of psychic things happened when you were a kid? Kids are very psychic.

My sister and I used to share a room growing up. We used to play these "mind reading" games at night, where she or I would think of a color or thing, and the other would try to guess it. We were usually correct on the first try. Once, I thought of the word "Clark" (my crush's middle name) and she guessed it immediately! (Maybe she is psychic, also, lol.) She was so freaked out, she never wanted to play the game again.

There was another time that she was leaving on a plane to go to Germany. I had moved out of the house at that point... I knew she was going on a trip but I didn't know when she was supposed to leave. Anyway, I was driving down the road and I saw a plane flying overhead. I just KNEW my sister was on the plane. So I looked at the clock, and then I called my mother to ask when the plane was leaving. It had left just around the time I had seen the plane!!!OMG

And once, as an adult, I called her out of the blue (we NEVER call each other.... just email occasionally) and she was crying, in the middle of a huge crisis!

There have been many times I thought about someone right before they called.... that sort of thing.... but nothing particularly weird. My "psychic" ability is usually about accusing my husband of being annoyed with me when he says he isn't (but I know he is, LOL).

I do think my mom is a bit psychic. She can look at me and just KNOW what I'm feeling. This happens all the time! Just yesterday she came over and took one look at me and said "Are you OK?!" (I was not really OK at all, I was having an episode of depression but I don't know how she could possibly tell.) She dreamed that her sister was in a car accident the night it happened. She also dreamed of each of her 3 daughters while she was pregnant and knew that they were girls.

Your whole family is psychic. :) It's an inherited ability. Many years ago I knew an 11 year old boy who was psychically gifted. His parents were open minded and allowed me to mentor him for several months. He was able to do things that most people think are impossible. Example: I had him sit with his back to me while I pulled books off the shelf at random and without my looking at it asked him what the title or subject was. He was correct every time. Then I flipped the book open without looking and asked him what the page number was. He was always within 4 pages. I also gave him one of those do-it-yourself I.Q. tests. This was before the internet. I told him at the beginning it was OK to guess on the answers. When he finished he told me he had guessed on about 50%. He watched me score it. He was stunned when the score said 140. He kept saying, "I don't believe it. I'm not that smart." I then explained that when he guessed or wrote down the first thing that popped into his head his ESP or psychic ability was working. Many people who remember past lives are also psychic. There is a lot of that here in the forum.

Cool, lol. I guess most people have a little bit of psychic ability. I wish I had more. I'd use it to help the authorities track down missing kids and stuff. For free, of course!

Although, tasting the eggnog that my kids are drinking in the kitchen doesn't seem like a very useful ability...

There was a program on A&E several years ago called "Psychic Kids - Children of the Paranormal". They took kids who were frightened of their abilities (like seeing ghosts, etc.) and took them and their family to a weekend retreat with other psychic kids and professional psychics and licensed therapists worked with them and taught them how to control and not be afraid. The older teens got to work on real missing person cases. The kids were stunned that there are adults who believe them and don't think they are crazy. I think the full episodes can be found on Netflix or Itunes. They were on YouTube but most have been taken down.

Psychic Ability

I firmly believe that our psychic ''gifts" are a throwback to earlier times, when in primitive times, they were used for survival.

In modern times, these "gifts" are sub-concious in adults and closer to the surface in children.

Animals appear (at least to me) to have some psychic ability as well as some "gifted" adults, who have kept their psychic "gifts" since birth.

I also believe that when we meet someone, and instantly like or dislike them, is we (as adults) are able to sub-conciously read that person's aura and form a decision about our safety with that person, another "gift" from our primitive past.

This is a great thread because I'm prone to doing this. I've been doing this all my life. It often corresponds with one of my episodes. I also seem to blurt things out and freak out people around me. I looked at a co-worker a few months ago and just blurted out, "Barbecue chicken pizza, really?" He looked at me in shock and asked how I knew what he was thinking. He was planning to have that to eat that night. A few hours later we were sitting down and this same co-worker asked a another co-worker if she had any special skills. She stated, no. Not being able to help myself I went into a very embarrassing and detailed description about what her and some of cheerleading friends used to do. She demanded to know who I talked to. I tried to laugh it off and just said it was a wild guess.

Hi Batgeek, I'm wondering what you mean by "episodes"? I have bipolar disorder and I often have episodes of mood instability. Is this what you mean?

ETA: I looked at your posts and I suppose you are talking about episodes of remembering past lives. Sorry I misunderstood.

Most of the time I can keep a cap on all this weird psychic and past life memory stuff. I can easily push it to the back of my mind. Every once in a while my ability to ignore it and push it away doesn't work. I don't know if it's because it just builds up, or my hold gets weak. I'm just trying to live a normal life and this stuff often gets in the way of it. I learned this from an early age after I told my mom about the conversation I had with her mother. It scared the crap out of her since her mother was dead before I was even born. I'd done some other things growing up that freaked out my parents as well. It was a lesson to me that these abilities, or whatever they are aren't well accepted in most social settings. This was also evident on the faces of my two co-workers I mentioned previously. Oh they'll come to me now if they want to know something other than that they don't want to be anywhere near me. In the past I've had people accuse me of stalking them when I blurted stuff out. If you want to live a normal life you keep this kind of stuff to yourself.
