Interesting thing my 1 year old did

Hi all. I haven't posted in a while, but I've been lurking a little bit.

So my son is nearly 2. He will be 2 at the end of May. He is working on talking.
Here are the words he has down pat:

Yeah
No
Mama
Papa (my husband's father)
Hooooo (What an Owl says)
dada (only says every so often)
Uncle
Yay!
Yummy (and Yum Yum)
Home (for our home)
House (He has a play house in the living room and he probably associates house with only this)
Okay
Hi

Here are the words he has made up and communicated a permanent meaning:

Nya Nya (Pronounced exactly like it reads) This is what he calls my husband, his father. He doesn't like to call him dada.
Ma - This means more or a general I want something.
eesh - cheese or please, depending
baa - Bob the builder. He even sings the song "baaa baaa" and it's adorable.
Yammy - My husbands mom, we have taught him to call her Grandma but he prefers Yammy for her.
Namy (nom-my) - My mother, who he also was taught as Grandma but I think he likes to make the distinction.

The only words he puts together are Hi, *NAME*, Okay, *NAME* and Yeah or No *NAME*. He can also do a growling sort of voice that he does when we talk about monsters and animals.

So he is right on par, I think with an average 1 year old in communication. He can also sign Thank you, milk, water, more, potty and eat. He understand the basics of pretty much everything we say to him, but by no means does he "talk" yet. He babbles a lot, pretty much all the time.

We bought him a little toy barn at a thrift store, he picked it out from all of the toys. We then stopped at wal mart to try and find some animals for his barn (This was a special treat because he used the potty several times in a row.)

I found a little two toy set with a farmer and rabbit. We got that for him. The farmer is clearly of a Hispanic race with dark skin, hair and eyes. We were playing with him the next day (today) and my son started saying, clear as day, Javier! Javier! while holding the farmer and making him walk around the barn.
OMG

So I said "Is your farmer's name Javier?" and he said, again "Yeah, Javier!" and held him up to me. He said Javier several more times. My husband and I were kind of like Uhhhh, okay... Javier it is.
Mind you, he has never named something before. DH and I have named some of his stuffed animals for him, but they were things like Piggly Wiggly, and other silly names.

So a couple of hours went by and I started doubting what I had heard. He babbles a lot, maybe I'm just twisting it in my mind. So way later in the say I asked him where Javier was. He shrugged and got up from where he was playing with match box cars and said "Javi? Javi? Javier?? Javi?" and looked around until he found him and yelled "Yay! Javier! Javi! Yay!"

yikes

Later he went with my husband to visit his uncle. He came home and I had been thinking about it so I asked him again where the toy was. This time I said "Where is Javi?"
The difference this time is that I didn't actually know where he had stashed the toy. So we looked around for a while, again he was yelling "Javi! Javi! Javi!" until I found it and lead him to where it was so he could find it. So my husband filmed the very end of our search. I can show it if anyone is interested. is the video he says Javi and *kind of* says Javier, but he trails off at the end because he has his toy and is distracted and on his way to play with it.

Where the heck would he hear the name Javier?? We don't know anyone names Javier or anything anywhere near like it. My husband is a stay at home dad and we have pretty secure control over what he watches at this point.
Furthermore, he struggles to pronounce every word he knows and only my husband and I can understand the few words he does know. And he has never named anything before, but he DOES make up words to call others so it's possible that is considered naming. But it's just super odd, my husband and I are pretty blown away!

Not saying it is a past life thing but where in the heck would it be coming from?? Thoughts?

It could very well be and very probably is a Past Life (PL).

In the months ahead, try and record (tape recorder, dictation recorder or boom box) your Son as he learns to talk and recounts other possible PL's.

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have or more information on your Son.

My children grew up, so I haven't seen Bob the Builder. Do any preschool TV shows, like Sesame Street, have a character by that name? Barring that, I agree with Hydrolad that it may very well be past-life related.

My daughter Emily did this too. She named the little girl in her dollhouse my mom's name and the toy baby my uncle's name. She did not know my uncle even existed at that point, and thought of my mom as "Grandma."

I don't think she even realized "Grandma" had a name until three years later, not remembering the girl doll, Emily gave the same name to her pink poodle snuggleupit. My husband and I laughed and had to let her know that was her grandmother's first name. She did not know. Her response was, "Well, I just like it."

It is an unusual name. No one in her school has it. None of her friends are called that. She must really like that name a lot, because the way I see it, she has named something that name at least three times: the pink poodle, the little girl doll, and my mom when she was born. Emily was my grandmother.

So, in my opinion, Javier must have been someone your son knew and loved in a past life.

That makes far more sense to me than the argument made by some that the name was picked up by his subconscious at the grocery store or somewhere similar and then just spit out now. I mean, the kid can't even say dada right now! You know that he has been prompted to say daddy thousands of times. Why else would he come up with Javier and be able to say Javier unprompted unless it was important?

My daughter was 13 months old on her first Christmas. She stumbled over to a plastic rocking horse under the tree, with a beatific look on her face, and said, "Jaques", in a French accent, I was bemused, to say the least. Blueheart's story is a classic case of same-family reincarnation. From your post, SoundofLight, I inferred that your family isn't Hispanic. Is that correct?

Thanks for all the replies

I googled as many things as I could, all the shows he watches, etc. I couldn't find anything to do with Javier.

We are Nordic in descent. Blond haires, blue eyed swedes. My son's name is Finn.

The more I see his focus on this doll, the more I think it's past life related. He loves it and plays with it nonstop. He almost never does that. The exception would be some trains he got for xmas that he was pretty into for a couple of weeks. But when he plays with javier he gets so into it and has him walk around the barn and tend to all the animals and says his name over and over. It's pretty cool.

I'm grateful that the memories seem pleasent to him. I always had a feeling that he would remember and talk about past lives. I posted before about my connection with him, but it was accidentally deleted.

found this on wikipedia if its any help Javier is the Spanish spelling of the masculine name Xavier. The name derives from the Catholic Saint called Francis de Xavier.I am glad for your son that he has not had any nightmares.Javier also might be a spirit guide/guardian angel.

Thanks for the info!

Earlier we were playing with my phone and he put it ti his ear and startes saying "Hi Javi!" Andsaid his name over and over. "Javi? Javi? Javi!?"

And he got a little upset that no one was on the other end.

I have a friend who is a spanish student and can speak several dialects. We're going to call her Sunday so that she can talk to him in spanish mostly for fun but also to see how he reacts. She isn't going to mention Javier.

After the phone thing, I am going to foster this and talk to him if/when he wants but for now my husband and I arent going to talk about him unless finn brings him up. If he does end up getting upset again, he doesn't have the communication or critical thinking skills for us to help him understand anything.

My question would be this:

I know many children do have past life memories but is it normally so much of a floodgate? Maybe his communication skills are improving to the point that he can now tell us about this important figure, but I can't pretend that it isn't a little alarming to suddenly have this become such a thing. Whoever Javier is, my son loves him very much and spends a lot of time saying his name and playing with the toy. As I have said, I did expect thia from him because he clearly has much to tell me, but I though he would be older and less matter of fact, if that makes sense.

This not from experience but from what I have read.some children do open the floodgates on their past lives and some don't.Some will mention bits and pieces here and there. It will depend on what he remembers.warning your child may or may not remember Spanish.still invite your friend over but remember everything happens for a reason so don't be disappointed if nothing happens.I wish you all the best with your son and keep us posted and we will all try our best to help.

Best wishes

Jonathan

We asked him a few questions. He answered them for a while. We asked him mostly where is Javi from? Is Javi from (enter place). And he was interested in Brazil and New York when we said it, and he tried to say two words. One started with M and one with E. He even tried to say them over and over when we asked him to repeat it, which is rare. But he zoned and went back to playing so we let him.

I am pretty interested in Carol's book but I can't afford it now. Is there a ebook version?

"Children's Past Lives: How Past Life Memories Affect Your Child", by Carol Bowman is available on Kindle for $5.99. You might be able to download, and read it on your computer. It's available for .22 cents, plus $3.99 shipping from them, as a used paper back. The more you speak about your son's situation, the more convinced I become that it is past life related. I'm glad the memories are happy. Have you tried doing a Youtube PL regression yourself? I have a feeling you may have shared PLs with your son, especially as you always felt he would "remember".

You can download the kindle app onto your computer for free then buy the ebook if you want from amazon.com You will also discover many other books for free on there :)

Thank you, Mama. I wasn't sure how it was done. There are a surprising number of quality books available for free.

Nya nya means 'granny' in Swahili. May or may not be a coincidence.

There's a good chance there may be a lot of past life clues in children's 'babbling' but we just don't recognise them for what they are. :)

Past life memory is something perfectly natural and nothing to be alarmed about. It seems perfectly natural to the child that they remember stuff and they assume their parents and everyone else does too (I know because this is how it was for me).

There could easily be more than one past life flitting in and out of his mind as he plays with his toys, dreams and so on. Time will tell. The normal thing is him to 'grow out of it' before long and settle into his present life, which is as it should be.

Try not to make too much fuss about it if he says something more as his speech improves. Just respond as you would to any other behaviour ... 'Uh huh? Oh really? That's interesting... tell me more about that... then what did he do?'

If he gets upset about something, that's OK. Just give him a cuddle same as you would if he was upset about anything else. No big deal. 'Javier isn't here now ... maybe we'll see him another day?' (Then distract him with another activity). That kind of thing. Little kids will usually be quite happy with that.

Making a fuss about these kinds of things can drive it 'underground'. He might start to get the feeling that he's doing something 'wrong' if it causes you to be upset or act strangely. Certainly make a note of the things he says in a journal or similar. He may find this all very interesting when he grows up.

Meanwhile, check out this amazing story from a few years back if you haven't already found it: Ian's story

Even as a teen my eldest would lose interest in talking about past lives and go on about life so don't worry about your young one. All will be okay.

Thanks, everyone. Sorry that I haven't posted in a while. We have been busy moving house and I can't wait to be through with it!

My son is doing well, but he still loves Javi as much as ever. We left him at my mothers for a week and he asked for him daily until he was returned. He spends time hiding and having us search for Javi. He really likes that.

I'm interested in the Swahili comment because I do find it intriguing that he can say dada and daddy but still calls my husband Nya Nya.

Hey all, thought I would post an update.

My son is still very attached to Javi and plays with him pretty much every day. He's two now and he is really starting to speak in full sentences. I love hearing what he has to say. The only interesting thing he has said lately is

"My wife!" It's interesting because we don't use the word wife very often. My husband and I call each other "babe" which he mimics, and calls us both either babe or by our first name just to be silly. So I asked him "Who is your wife?" and he said "I don't know." then he said "My wife! Uncle K!"

Uncle K is my best friend who has been staying with us for a bit. He was sitting next to my son in the car when he said it. LOL

So now we joke about that a bit. But he said it a few more times when we were home the next day. Can't wait to hear more about his wife, or javi, or whatever he wants to tell me!!!

Interesting. It's very possible that Uncle K was his wife. Time will tell.

Could be! Based on what I saw, when he wsa saying my wife and I don't know he was using a calmer voice but when he said Uncle K was his wife he was much more playful like he was coming out of it.

"Out of the Mouth of Babes" readily springs to mind when re-reading your posts "SoundOfLight", the "Un-Believers" wrongly assume that a young child comes to this life with a "Clean Slate" ready to be firstly written upon, when it is already filled with writing (which is Past Lives), it's just that most people can't see the evidence or won't believe the facts when it comes to Reincarnation and Past Lives and choose to dismiss it right away.

The "Passage of Time" sometimes clears their vision, other people blunder through life, oblivious to the facts pertaining to Reincarnation and Past Lives and don't realize the truth until they pass over into "Spirit".

You and your Husband, "SoundOfLight" are to be commended for keeping such an open mind when it comes to your Son, so many families dismiss or squash the discussion of it outright when the clues are right in front of them!
