Is a past life soul "timeless" as a ghost soul is?

Is a past life soul "timeless" as a ghost soul is?
I know that a "ghost"doesn't have a sense of time. I wonder is if that is also the case with a past life soul because when I look at pics of my past life, it feels as if they were in present time.
I also know that a "ghost" so to speak doesn't realize they are dead. Could that be the same case with past life soul?

Well, isn't a "ghost soul" just a normal soul who hasn't crossed over yet?

Are you asking if realize we're dead when we leave our bodies? I'm a bit confused.

I would say yes to both questions. On the other side there is no sense of time. But there are many souls who do realize they are dead and some try to contact us here in the physical world. They understand that we have time but they don't. Maybe that's why some of them are so patient with us.

Some souls as a ghost don't realize they are dead. What I am asking, is it somewhat the same case with an incarnated soul?

Hi Mn,

As I get it a spirit that hasn't crossed over has no sense of time and is in a dream like state. They could not be an incarnated spirit because if they haven't crossed they have not been able to reincarnate.

The incarnated spirit will be like any other spirit, they are on the other side but can come and go into our world if they feel the need to or wish to. I wouldn't think they have the same time sense as we do but may be more aware of it.

Hope that helps.

Just interested, do you feel you get the spirit of your pl?

I think I had mine when I was working it out but I had others come and go as well, mainmy in dreams which confused me.

I felt my pl spirit when I was researching but not so much now.

It might be worth writing the dreams down to see if they do add up.

Maybe, when you´re a little kid, you´re confused and you don´t know what happened. All of a sudden you just appear in another country and you might not be too conscious of your body yet to be able to tell that you are different. Could be like waking up and not being sure when or where you are.

If you are talking about older people, probably not. Except brief moments when they are disoriented because of a brain injury or after deep meditation.

Errr... except you believe in demonic posession or something similar, the spirit of your PL is YOUR spirit, isn´t it?

Hi owl, I find this a bit confusing myself.

I believe we have one soul which carries on in different bodies from life to life. I am the same person as that life, the one before & the next one to come but my body changes. Surely that must leave a seperate spirit?

Although to me i don't view my pl as "ghost spirit" surely it must be able to manefest itself into it's form it had as that person.

Does each life leave a seperate spirit? A way of seperating each life?

I do find it confusing when I think of it but after watching a film which related to that life a friend visited who can feel spirits & picked up really strongly. My emotions were really strong & I was sure it was my spirit from that life she sensed. Also there were things that happened to point in the right direction that made me feel the spirit was seperate but can merge.

Sorry if my post is kind of confusing. What I meant was, does a past life spirit realize time apposed to a out of body spirit. From what I understand an out of body spirit (a ghost) has no sense of time.

I had also wondered if a soul goes from one lifetime to the next. Do we lose some of the souls through life times? Or do we just keep having more added through each life we go through?

The easiest way I know of to explain reincarnation, in my experience, is to compare it to driving a car. You may have memories of driving your previous vehicle or vehicles but they no longer work. So you get another one. Same driver, different car. I look at reincarnation as a full body transplant. All my memories and experiences are pointing to it being that way, at least.

Editing in, to get back to original question.

I don''t see that there is a difference between yourself as a 'ghost', or an out-of-body experience or the soul that happens to be occupying your body (whichever incarnation it may be in). It is still your 'self', which there is only one of. It would be like in my car example, an incarnation would be in the car driving, and out-of-body experience would be getting out to look at something, or stop in someplace, and 'ghost' would be 'need a new car'.

As far as time is concerned, I'm with the crowd that says its an illusion...or at least something that is beyond our understanding. I've had experiences with time-slips so I was aware at a young age that things aren't what they appear as. How one perceives time is also different. I think we've all heard people make the comment, "that seemed to take forever', and also, "that went by so fast', so experiencing time changes also depending on events (even if the clock says something different). So how time really works is a mystery for me, but as far as souls go, I know I only have one.

Guys, why are you making it so complicated? Not even reading esoteric stuff I got so confused!

Let's see, this is how I understand it: a human being is body + soul. The body changes, the soul is always the same.

When we die, the soul goes to an intermediate plane, where time is already different to the time we experience on Earth. If the soul chooses to stay in this plane for whatever reason, it would be what humans call "ghost" (or spirit), but it's a normal soul, only it can't reincarnate because first it has to reach the spiritual world so that it reflects about its last life and plans the next life. While you don't do this, you keep most of the characteristics of the last person you were, including attachments and human desires.

Once we are in the spiritual world, we can have access to all our previous incarnations, and the soul is the same, but it has more experience. When this soul acquires a new body, it will have a new personality, and the old personalities can also influence to a certain degree, but it keeps being the same soul. There are no past lives spirits, neither other kind of spirits. That's all (at least for my comprehension).

So, to answer mnrjpf99's OP: a soul is timeless, because time only exists in the physical plane (the Earth), or so they say... You feel your "pl soul" as if it was in present life because your memories are the same even when you lived that pl thousands of years before. Souls don't die. We all are immortal souls living in mortal bodies.

I'm confused about the question now. Do you mean is the ghost a soul or something else when you say 'ghost soul' or are you saying a ghost is a type of soul????

I'll answer both by my perspective. If you meant is a ghost a soul, then my answer is 'sometimes'. I think there is such things as an imprint where the surrounding recorded an event, which then could replay for eternity maybe, and then it would not have a sense of time because it does not have awareness, it is just a recording. If it is a soul, then it is no different then the person next to you except it doesn't have a body, how it would perceive time, I don't know.

A past life soul is just either yours or someone else's in their last incarnation. Just because the memory still seems fresh doesn't mean you are still there. I have some where it feels like I could jump in my car and drive over and still talk to the people, but that life is in another time. I've still had time slips though, that's why I said time itself is something that I don't understand but the soul occupying your body in a former life and the one in this life is still the same soul.

If you meant something else then I'm not understanding the question.

Editing in: Did this question come up because of something you read somewhere? There is a lot of stuff that is printed out there that conflicts with each other. If it was from something you read and no one is answering your question maybe give us the source of the question. It may help clear up the confusion.

In other words a "ghost soul" being a spirit out of the body as apposed to a reincarnated soul being in a body.

It's to my understanding, that a ghost has no sense of time. I was wondering if it is the same for a past life soul in a living body.

Would that be the reason why "memories" from a past life can seem like "just yesterday", in spite of the said PL may have lived 100 years or so ago?

I think that when a soul is in a body, time passes for it in the normal human way. If a part of the soul's energy stays on the other side, that part would experience timelessness.
