ISO research on mental asylum experiments

Hi, all. I recently had a regression that revealed a pretty horrific past life. It's still too raw to go into much detail, but the short version is that I suffocated during an experimental treatment in an asylum. I would love any scientific or anecdotal research regarding PLs in asylums.

In the experiment, people who were thought to be insane were placed on a thick canvas cloth. The four corners were gathered above their head and the bundle was suspended from the ceiling. The doctor in charge thought this treatment would recreate a womb-like experience, which would calm us down. However, since it was winter, they lined the inside with some sort of reflective material and I died.

Does anyone else have PLs where they were institutionalized? I would also love some pointers as to where to find more information about these types of experiments, as I'd like to narrow down a time frame and general location. I've sent out emails to two women who are historians of nursing, but haven't heard back yet. Thanks for any and all help you can provide.

Do you have an idea if this was in Europe or America at all? Very many strange and bizarre 'treatments' have been applied to the afflicted in asylums over the centuries. Your 'treatment' sounds like just the kind of thing that would have been tried at some point.

As for PLs, I too was institutionalised in one PL, in a military hospital for shellshock/neurasthenia patients.

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I believe it was in the US, on the east coast. Somewhere slightly mountainous. This would have been in the '50s or '60s, judging by the furnishings and amenities I remember seeing.


Also, sorry to hear about your PL. I hope that you were treated well there, since you were injured defending your country.

If your PL was in America, there may be institutions or historical societies over there which may be able to provide better information about care in the US. From what I am aware though, institutional care went through a bit of a revolution in the 50s-60s with the advent of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. A treatment were you were put in a womb-like state sounds like just the kind of experience that might have happened in the 60s when childhood regression therapy really became a major thing.


have you tried looking for old institutions on the East Coast? One trying new experimental treatments such as yours would probably have been quite large, maybe with a publication record of research papers. It might be worth trying to ask for the name of the institution, or the State it was in, when you are meditating or going to sleep.


From the small amount I remember of the military hospital, we were treated well, but your type of care depended upon rank. Officers got nice surroundings, private rooms and good food, whereas men of the Ranks were more likely to end up in large wards or locked up in asylums. I don't remember much, but as an officer I was in one of the nicer hospitals with my own room. Like you though, I still have a lot of raw emotion and pain from my time there, it can be hard to talk about even now.

The revolution was the new drugs which were coming out then. This made out-patient care possible. Much cheaper that way. It's cheaper to treat mental patients with drugs than with in person visits to the therapists. "Are you seeing things or hearing things in your head? We have a pill for that."

In fact, drug-based treatments are pretty nice things, compared to what was before: brain surgery, aka lobotomy, which succceeded ultra high X ray irradiation, to "calm" the schizophrenics. Guess what ? Those X-ray were still used in the 40s to cure children deemed by their parents to masturbate too often. Result were, their brain were simply killed, and IQ reduced to a chimp'.
"Conventional" Medicine is responsible for more evil and suffering than any current institution or doctor could account for... If that kind of experience were to figure in my lifestream, consciouness stream whatever, I would prefer a hundred times never remember it at all !
