Joe

I would like to, in an objective way, as this is still all new to me, share my experiences. When I pregnant with my first child, I had a dream one night that someone passed me a child and said 'call him Joe' so when our baby boy was born we did. Shortly afterwards when he was six weeks old we went to live in Rural Ireland, there was no television, no outside influences. from being a toddler, before he could talk, joe would rein act loading a gun, he would use household objects and shove things down into tubes and things and pretend to blast them off. With a skillful click and a twist he would make the noise similar to a torpedo. He also began to talk of being in the war, and had and still has at the age of nine, terrible nightmares about 'being in a war'. Just the other night he told me casually, 'I was in the war Mummy'. I recently found out that I had two uncle Joe's, one died aged 25 in the first world war in france, and then years later his nephew, named after his dead uncle died on the Burma railway in the second world war aged only 20. I wondered that if my son was having a reincarnation trauma, which Joe he was. In France recently, during a procession of world war Two occupied France, Joe saw guns and tanks, and cars and people dressed in forties clothes, he also heard big band music, he kept saying he knew this music but was totaly petrified. I had my answer. Any suggestions would be welcome. He is still living with this trauma and as a teacher myself, I, who are normally so down to earth cannot ignore it. There is something in it. he was diagnosed as having ADHD, it isn't ADHD it is past life trauma, recently we took him for his review and the Psychologists were astounded. 'It's as if he never had ADHD' they said to us' I never gave him drugs because I knew all I had to do was help him work this out, which I am still doing. Kind regards to all.;) any feedback would be very welcome.

Hi Angela,

I found the experiences you've had with your son very interesting. Not only did you have an 'announcement dream', but you also have an example of 'same-family reincarnation' and have been able to pinpoint who your son used to be.

What your post also highlighted to me was how many children trying to deal with traumatic past-life memories are diagnosed as having ADHD - it seems to be a recurring thread. I think it's fascinating that as you worked with your son through his memories, the doctors have confirmed that the supposed- 'ADHD' had disappeared. I really like to hear about the healing properties of working through past-lives and solving seemingly physiological problems.

I must congratulate you on being so open and receptive to your child and for listening to the signs and the comments and working through his traumas with him rather than giving in to any medication offered. It would be interesting to make a study of children diagnosed with ADHD to see how many of them are actually grappling with their past lives.

The only suggestions I have are to continue doing exactly as you are - listen to Joe, comfort him when he gets agitated and remind him that that was a different life-time. Has he expressed any desire to visit any 'old haunts' as it were? Does he still have nightmares?

Do let us know Joe's progress and I wish you all the best in helping him through his traumatic memories of the war. Sounds like you're doing a great job.

Hi Angela37 and welcome to the fourm! Have you had the chance to read through the "stickies" and the other stories in this section? There is a wealth of information on children and their past life memories here.

If Carol Bowman's books are avalable where you live, I'd suggest getting them. They're a wonderful read and the 2nd one is specifically on deceased relatives who are born again into the same families.

Do you have any relatives alive who remember the Joe you think your son now is? That could be another way to verify your suspicions - particular habits and such that the soldier Joe had, your som may also have.

I have no doubt many problematic behaviors in children as well as in adults are related to past-life traumas. Is there a reputable past-life regressionist that could talk to your son? Sounds like you're doing a wonderful job in listening to him, but a professional might take some of the burden off of you.

I've not had to confront this issue myself, but perhaps some of our members who have will have more precise words of wisdom.

Best of luck to you, please feel free to ask more questions and keep us informed of any new details.

Thanks very much Klarry, I found great support in your letter, after all this time it is nice to know that people are taking you seriously. I was so 'caged' about talking about this with anyone, I was afraid of being called 'a crack pot' or it might have seemed as if I was trying to 'blame' this past life experience instead of dealing with ADHD. But as I said as a teacher I knew that it wasn't linked and found Joe's behaviour 'different'. Also with my new insight, if you like, it has suddenly disapeared. he dosn't need help in school to concentrate anymore, he dosn't need support at school, and luckily his dreams are less violent. Also the past life experiences vame before the diagnosis for ADHD, so it is a chicken and an egg situation. I would like to go to a reputable person who could regress Joe, in the UK, but I will think long and hard about that and try to find the right person. I need more information, beofre I feel comfortable about it. When people look at me now and say, 'why does he know so much about guns and war? I don't cringe (I'm a pacifist!) and it isn't a typical boy thing, his knowledge is scarry. I try to steer him away from talking about it, and we talk about other things, but he can describe the fear that so many men must have and still do experience, that is the worst part. But as time goe son it is getting better. Thanks again. lovely to feel understood, and thanks for taking the time out to reply. Angela

Hello bishopk, my dad knew the second Joe, he was his cousin. There are photo's that I have shown Joe of my Father and the other Joe together(as children). There is a family resemblence, but Joe gets tearful if he sees them (even though I originally never said anything about what happened to him) In the photo's the first 'Joe' is just a boy, My Joe just points at him, and says 'it's sad to think that little boy will die'. That was a shock. but I thought I must have told him or he over heard at some point, that could have happened. I'm not sure. It's not massively discussed, I'm afraid of 're-laying' or transferring any thoughts. I will start to read through the book list and other info, I never knew there was so much information. There is a link here, as I have found out quite a lot of information (since this started up since bumping into the war procession in France) The second Joe, was captured in Thailand and sent to the Burma railway where he proberly died of over work, illness ect...he died two months after arriving. I'm also trying to get his regiment to highlight on their website these men, as they aren't hardly mentioned. Maybe it is all inter linked, I feel as if I have a job to do. I'll keep you posted. thanks again. Sorry my replys are so mammoth, it is good to talk and kick around with some theories. angela

I am so glad you're feeling better about your situation Angela. It can't be easy seeing your young son remember such traumatic scenes and feelings that even an adult would find hard to cope with. I hope you feel less 'caged' and know that you can talk openly about Joe here and no-one will think you're a crackpot. :)

I wish more people in general were knowledgeable and understanding about the very real problems of dealing with children with such memories so that parents don't feel so alone with the situation. Your son is very lucky that you have picked up on the signs and you're making sure the issues are worked through.

I myself had a shocking and disturbing past-life flashback when I was 10yrs old and because I didn't understand it for what it was at the time and felt too confused and ashamed to tell my mum, I buried it till my late teens. Subsequently, it did give me hang-ups and issues that I doubt would have developed if I had talked about it or if someone had noticed my strange behaviour. I know that when I have children I will be on the look out for the tell-tale comments and signs.

I was interested that you feel like you have a job to do with Joe. I wonder whether you have any memories yourself?

Klarry, sorry I've taken a while to reply to your question. I had a regression when I became aware of 'past lives' a friend guided me through it, it was some years ago, and I'm not sure how much was my imagination going wild, but I saw myself as a young teeage boy in bed during a terrible outbreak of some kind of disease. I was quite comfortable and at peace, I was aware that I lived somewhere in europe, I was lying in a very basic bedroom with the door open, and scratchy bedclotes over me, my parents owned a pottery. The walls were white washed and there was no glass in the windows only shutters. That was it. The second image, if you like I was simply sitting on a horse drawn cart, my parents either side of me and we were moving house, all our possesions were piled up behind us, I was really wrapped up against the elements. I'm not sure how much was in these dreams. Although I was very much awake when we did the regression meditation. It was interesting though. I have also found out that the second Joe was from the Berkshire Regiment which I thoughht was a nice conincedence. :) have you done a regression too?
Angela

I know what you mean about worrying that your regression memories are actually your imagination going wild but the fact that you remembered being a different sex makes me think that your memories were authentic. How interesting! I wonder what time period that was?

I have had one official regression but the other glimpses into lives have come from spontaneous recall or dreams. I still don't know if the life I recalled during my regression was 'real' or my imagination. I'm not a very easily regressable subject (can't clear my mind for love nor money!) and so I was putting a lot of pressure on myself. Regardless of it being my imagination or not, I did come up with something. I spoke of being a young serving girl in the house of a wealthy Dutch merchant. He repulsed me but we ended up having an affair (I didn't feel in a position to refuse). I think we married, but I do know that I died in childbirth giving birth to his son whilst he was away on business. The baby was very big and the women who helped me to deliver it left me to die on the bed because they thought of me as nothing but a 'floosy', a temptress and an unsuitable wife even though I had done nothing to encourage the man. If indeed, I did make it up under the pressure of regression, I did a good job of convincing myself because I sobbed through most of it.

On further reflection after the regression, I thought that the life was all about my total inability to say 'no', but I suddenly realised like a thunderbolt that I have a potentially related 'hang-up' from that life. Interestingly, in this life friends and family joke about how prudish I am and can't understand why. I will not wear anything 'sexy' in case people think I'm a floosy when I'm not at all. Furthermore, it's not the men I worry about, but what the women think. I have always played down any flirty behaviour around women because I really feel strongly that they shouldn't think of me as a 'tart' or any sexual threat at all. You have to wonder whether or not that is directly related to the fact that women once let me die because of their ill-concieved perceptions of me and my sexuality.

I would love to go to a different regression therapist (I didn't like the one I saw), but they seem quite hard to find in England, don't you think? I would love to become one myself. So far I have successfully regressed only a few close friends.

I would love to explore some of my phobias and glimpses of lives, especially the one I told you about when I was 10, the memory of which has never progressed since that day.

Would you like to be regressed again? It would be interesting to see if you and Joe have shared a life together before and I'm sure you must have done. Sorry to have gone on so long - I didn't realise I'd written so much!

Dear Klarry, I didn't think you were going on, I'm always aware that I can jabber for ages, but again I think that is our self styled inability to stop worrying what people think, I'm the worlds worse. Always asking myself 'did I come across too silly' or 'am I making sense', or 'what must they have thought of me', luckily with time and age I'm learning not to care as much, but like you said from your past life regression people have so many influences on us. I too find some women intimidating, much more than men. Where an earth does that come from, I'm fine with my partner, (him being a chap and all) but if I get in the same room as a big strong dominating lady I feel like running a mile. I think in the past women were taught to either put up and shut up or brazen their way through life. Nurse's and midwives during the olden days must have been fiery characters. But I'm quite prudish too, I wear quite boyish clothes (Maybe I was a young lad in a former life) I really feel that influence. Maybe like me you tried to be 'girly' and it just wasn't you, and it could be something to do with your pastlife trauma. It sounds very likely. I would like to go to a proper regressionist?(is that the word?) but, yes they are few and far between. You really should think about training to be one. What an incredibly interesting and forfilling job that would be, you are obviously incredibly compassionate and that is all people would need. I'd just hate to go into a room with some one dressed in flowing robes (stereotyping now) I'd need to be with some one, realistic, practical, senseable and yet open. I think that could be you? If it is you should do it. Let me know what you think. Angela

It's interesting that you wear quite boyish clothes and feel a connection about that when your regression memories were about you being a young boy. Maybe that was your last life time. It is interesting isn't it wondering where some of our inexplicable quirks come from! One of my friends (brought up as a strict Catholic) refers to me jokingly as Sister Klare because I can come across as more Catholic than she is even though I've never been affiliated to any religion!:) I remember being 6yrs old and on holiday in Spain. We hadn't meant to go to the beach and weren't dressed appropriately and so my mum suggested we just strip off to our pants to play in the sand. I remember being absolutely horrified she would suggest I go topless (even though I had nothing to show!). I was completely indignant although gave in eventually. There is a photograph of that day however of my brother and I and I'm kneeling there, back straight, chin defiantly in the air....with my arms folded firmly across my non-existent chest. I still have this almost Victorian sense of 'covering up'!! It's more funny than anything else.

I have been considering changing my career path to work with regression for a while now but have no idea how to go about it. I would want to get all the correct qualifications and do it properly and I think the fact that I'm an archaeologist would be a help with the history side of it. I'm determined to do it somehow though. I love my job but feel unfulfilled spiritually and feel physically and emotionally drawn to do this. When I think about your son and children like him (and their must be thousands) who are being so affected by their past lives, I find it bizarre that there are more professionals out there to help. We'll see.....
:)

Fascinating.............

Welcome to the forum Angela,

I have been reading this thread with interest. First, thank you so much for posting about your experiences with your son. Second, I find it fascinating that you see a relationship between ADHD and his memories. My son was diagnosed with ADHD in fourth grade. Daniel, has memories of the Vietnam War and the 60's and 70's. He even dresses like a hippy, loves the Grateful Dead, Jimmy Hendrix, and The Doors, and has a 1964 Chevy Chevelle. Your observation is interesting, and I wonder, how many children -today, who have been in wars in a recent previous life, and remember -- are diagnosed with ADHD? I hope others post here -if their child displays the same tendencies. It would be an interesting thing to study.

Regarding you and your son -and doing regressions; I have a suggestion. :) When my son was 7 I think he was, we did a meditation together. The result was -we both remembered the same life -together. I will see if I can find the post that has the experience in it this morning and give you the link -if you are interested..

Klarry you have a private message from me. Just click on the private messages line at the bottom of the main page -it should come up;)

Dear deborah, I would be very interested in the link. It would be an interesting first step into having the confidence to stift a little deeper into Joe's fears. I must say that since I have taken a different angle on Joe's fears I see so much more calm in him and I have more patince and understanding myself. It's almost as if I have found a reason that fits with his past behaviour, and it all makes perfect sense. Incedently Joe has been going to Aikido for three years now which has helped immensly. It was not untill about two weeks ago that I found out that the second Joe died under the Japanese and Aikido is a Japanese martial arts. Which I didn't really know at the time. I feel this has been very healing to him. On a recent website I discovered that the men in Burma would have to count in Japnese, Ich, nee, san, ECT...when they lifting heavy stones or railway sleepers. It is strange to see how well Joe has mastered the Japnese language, and to see him counting as he has to with certain moves. he didn't always like it, but as time has gone on it has helped him 'heal' I believe. He has learnt to respect the Japanese culture and like it.
Once again thankyou for the support, especially from klarry. I did feel I had many words of comfort for her experience. It was quite shocking as some past lives are, such as Joe's and Klarrys. Mine, if that is what they were are quite tame:) Any links will be incredibly welcome Deborah and thanks for sharing your experiences that your son has been through too. Much kind regards Angela

Hi Angela,

In the thread Soul Moments, I share my experience, and the results with my son when I did a meditation with him. I used Tibetan Bells sounds which are specific sounds that create binaural beats in order to achieve an altered state quickly. Tibetan Bells, or tingas create perfect binaural beats. Tingas are two chimes connected by a string, each chime is tuned to its own frequency, and when the chimes are struck together, a binaural beat is formed. This type of brain synchronization brings the left and the right hemispheres of the brain together, and has been used by for centuries by numerous cultures.

I mention in the thread Soul Moments a CD titled "OM" which has these sounds and is a great tool for meditation and exploring altered states. Please keep us posted and let me know if this approach works for you.
