Just starting to realise that I may have been ignoring the signs for years..

Hi,

My daughter is 5, about to turn 6 at the end of this month. I have just logged onto your site for the first time. This is even the first time in my life I have even googled "reincarnation in children"... It all started when I read the article about James Leininger and I suddenly realised that I have been ignoring all the signs I have had from my daughter over the past few years.

Of course, nothing to compare to a WWII pilot or 9/11 baby, just simple indications that this is not her first time here..She is a very active, bright girl who loves to say "I know, I know" all the time. She ALWAYS knows how to do things before we even get to show her..She is very confident and outgoing. She talks to everyone.

I have forgotten many of the things she has said to me in the past that have made my skin go goose pimply, sadly, but I hope they will come back to me now that I am a little more aware of what is going on.

I do remember, way back when she must have been only 3 and unschooled and unable to write to read, she wrote down, on a piece of paper "I am alive". This obviously did freak me out at the time, but we were away with friends at the weekend, and the moment got forgotten with everything else going on.

For years, from the moment she could talk, she would mention her "other house, the pink one". She would often go on about it to us and mention things she had done there before. She would stipulate it was at the pink house that she did that, not our house.

She also (still) calls me "real mummy", which also does concern me a bit. She has called me this for many years. I have asked her why, and she just said that it was because I am her real mummy, not the other one.

Other, less significant examples include her always coming out with something that she shouldn't and couldn't possibly know, but does. In the bathroom once, when trying to clean clothing with a stain remover, and having no success at all, after having used bleach, alcohol and oxy clean, she spoke up from her bath and said" Mummy, why don't you just use toothpaste?". I asked her how she knew this and she said" I don't know, I just know".

However outgoing and confident she may be, she is incredibly and unexplainedly petrified of going into other rooms in the house by herself. I am not sure if this has anything to do with anything, but it is strange in such a happy-go-lucky, confident child.

I know this is not a break-through example or anything, but now that I have read some more experiences from parents, I do believe that my daughter lived before.

My question now is what should I do to help her, if anything? She definitely said much more before, will she forget in time? Are there things I need to help her overcome? Is it possible she is aware she was here before?

Many thanks for your help and for this site,

rose

Hi Rose! Welcome to the Forum!

I think your daughter's case is very interesting. I know how you feel - your daughter sounds a lot like my oldest son. He also has this inexplicable fear of going into other rooms in the house by himself. And like your daughter, he has this uncanny knowledge of many odd things...

That "I am alive" message she wrote must have indeed made you jump - I know it would make ME jump! :D

Deborah has given you some wonderful suggestions - I'm sure you'll enjoy the books she mentioned.

My son hasn't shown signs of distress in any situations that may be connected to past life issues. When he does mention things that may be past life connected, I make sure he knows I'm listening. As in any other case, I try to make him feel comfortable talking about whatever is on his mind, and I ask matter of fact questions when it feels right. On the whole, I think I have succeed in making him feel that it's OK to know things and feel things that not everyone does, and I'm glad of it - he is a happy, creative and thoughtful child, totally outgoing and sociable!

Please feel free to share whatever you need or wish to - we'll be here!

Again, welcome!

Hi Rose, welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your experience with your daughter. I think it's far more common than you think when our children show signs of remembering their past lives, but like yourself and so many other parents, they are often overlooked, or simply dismissed as an overactive imagination. The fact is, reincarnation is a perfectly natural process that happens to us all, it's just that children seem to be more 'in tune' with their previous lives because they're young and still have very few notable memories of their present lives.

I would join WA Heart in suggesting that you just let your daughter talk about it if she needs to, and make sure she knows that you're listening, go along with whatever she says as if you already know what she's talking about so that she feels comfortable saying whatever she feels like saying. Maybe drop in a few questions, ask her to describe the 'pink house', who lived there with her? etc., nothing too complicated. Write down everything she says, and also try and write down anything that you can remember her saying in the past, that way you can slowly build up a picture of what life was like for her, and who she was.

If she should ever remember anything traumatic from her past life, then you can just reassure her that she's safe now, and that she's with a family who love her very much. A typical child usually begins to focus more on their present life, and less on the past when they reach the age of about 7.

Deborah gave you some good links to read, I would like to add this one as well: The Four Signs of Children's Past Life Memory

I hope you feel welcome here, and please keep us up to date with your daughter.

Thank you so much for your replies, Deborah, WA Heart and Chris. Your help and support is much appreciated !

I actually went out and bought Carol's book today, and will follow your advice on further reading and talking to my daughter etc.

I can't say I have noticed a lot of trauma in her, although she was quite ill as a young child (terrible digestion and sleep problems until sleep apnea diagnosed eventually at 3 years old..) My daughter did have a lot of night terrors, but not so much recently. She very independent and confident and is not clingy to me ever, only when we are in the house (and it is not just this house, it is every house we have lived in..)

I also have an elder son (aged 8), but have not really noticed he has shown any signs of a past life, other than being extremely anxious about everything there is in life and having quite frequent night terrors when younger. He actually has more hang ups than she does..(!)

But the sad thing that I have noticed is that I may be too late... I tried asking my daughter tonight about her pink house, and she said " what pink house?". This is sad for me as she was still talking about it a year ago and had been since I can remember. I don't think she is troubled by anything, but, out of curiosity, I would be absolutely fascinated to find out anything about her past. Is regressive therapy dangerous or ill-advised on children? I would not like her to be adversely affected by seeing someone. I don't want to trouble her if she is not troubled.

I am sorry this is such a long post, but this sudden realisation has obviously got me asking all sorts of questions now:

- does this mean I too had a past life? and my husband?

- if so, why can't I remember anything?

- are there things we should take from our past lives into our present ones or doesn't it matter if we start a new life oblivious to the fact that we have already had one? Do we gain things from remembering?

thanks again so very very much for your help,

rose

Well done Rose, I hope you enjoy reading Carol's book if you haven't read it already .... I couldn't put it down myself ;)

Don't be sad that your daughter doesn't talk about the 'pink house', or her past lives anymore. If anything, it is a good sign that nothing from the past is troubling her enough for her to make it known to you. She won't have forgotten her memories, she's simply processed them and integrated them into her present life, and they now lie dormant in her subconsciousness, just as they do in all of us. There is nothing dangerous in having a past life regression done on your child, but in your daughters' case, it sounds like a regression is unnecessary as her memories don't seem to be interfering with her life now, and I wouldn't recommend putting her through any of that just to satisfy your own curiosity.

To answer your other question, yes, you also have your own past lives. It seems to vary from person to person as to how many times we have lived before, personally I can remember at least 6 previous lives, but some people can remember dozens, even hundreds of past lives. Why can't you remember anything? Well, it's surprising how many people DO remember their past lives without even realizing it. Ask yourself, do you have any irrational phobias? Do you have a fascination for a specific time period in history, or maybe a famous historical character? Is there any kind of old music that makes you feel overly emotional? Do you feel drawn to a particular country? Do you believe in love at first sight, or have you ever looked at somebody for the first time and taken an instant dislike to them for no apparent reason? Quite often (but not always) the answers to some of these questions can be put down to something that happened in a past life, you only have to look back at certain events in your present life where you may have always asked yourself "why did I do this"? or "why did I feel like that"? Questions that may have always been at the back of your mind, but you've never been able to answer them satisfactorily. When you think of some of these things from a reincarnation perspective, many things can suddenly begin to make sense.

That just scratches the surface really. There are many methods you can try out to remember your past lives, rather than writing them all out for you, I'll just point you in the direction of these threads instead: How can I learn about my past lives? and Audio cd's suitable for past life regression

Have fun reading through those threads, and I hope I've helped to answer your questions, but don't hesitate to ask if there's anything you don't understand.

It's me again : angel sorry, I forgot to try and answer this one for you. Actually, we take everything from our past lives into our present life - you are the sum of all your past lives, and each lifetime only serves to enrich your soul even further until it is believed that there comes a time when you will have no need to reincarnate anymore. You can liken your time on Earth to attending school, each lifetime is a different lesson, some we enjoy, some we don't enjoy so much, but each lesson teaches us something different. Sometimes it can take more than one lesson for certain things to 'sink in' and that's when we can often carry issues from one life to the next.

We often reincarnate within the same circle of souls as well. There are many cases, some of them here in the forum, where a child will look at her parent and say "remember when you were little and I was your mummy (or daddy)?" So you and your husband could have been brother and sister in a past life, or your daughter may have been your grandmother (or grandfather), the possibilities are endless.

I would say that you can gain peace of mind from remembering. Sometimes all it can take is to simply remember a certain event from a past life, to settle an anxiety in your present life, other times it can take a bit more work and several sessions with a past life regression therapist are needed to get to the root of a problem in your present life, some problems may not even be past life related at all, everybody is different so I can't really give you a definitive answer to your last question.

Hi Rose :)

I just wanted to say welcome and thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I find them very intriguing too and I hope you will bring updates. The others have already given you some great advice, which I can only echo.

Again, welcome! :)

Just because she is now almost 6 doesn't mean that she will forget it all. My youngest grandchild, Joanie, never mentioned anything until recently. We were all sitting in the den and both girls were busily applying makeup. The older girl, Mary, put it on rather haphazardly, but Joanie was doing a careful job.I asked her if she remembered putting make up on when she was big and she just blurted out, "yes, but I died when I was 19" We, my husband and myself and her parents, were all stunned. She had never said anything like that before. I asked if she remembered her name and she said "Mir....Mar... I used to remember, Miss Mi.. I can't remember now. " I thought it was interesting that she began by saying Miss. People rarely use that to introduce them selves anymore. She has never said anything else since. We treasure that one little glimpse, so treasure anything else she shares with you, write it down and good luck on your adventure. Chandra
