Medieval PL?

I actually had this happen a long while ago, I'm pretty sure it was before my war flashback, but it's only just occurred to me that it may have been a genuine snippet to a life as a woman, perhaps in the Medieval era. This is mostly 'feeling' based.

I was stood in the kitchen mixing chocolate into cornflakes to make cornflake cakes when I very suddenly for a brief second saw myself mixing into a wooden bowl rather than a plastic one. It looked as if there was flour in the bowl and my kitchen counter top was wooden also. I felt as if there were children close by and that they were mine, and I felt warm and happy. I was definitely a woman. I had the feeling of long, brown hair and I was wearing a brown and white dress.

It was gone as suddenly as it had appeared, but for the rest of the day I was left feeling very surreal and 'floaty'. It was a strange sensation!

That is a blessing, ColourODarkness, to get such a happy flashback. It is those snippets that we can cherish.

I had something similar happening to me once. I was walking with my dog on a small path, and there were trees and bushes on the sides. Suddenly I had a flashback of being an elderly women gathering berries and herbs in the woods. I also felt happy and peaceful, and knew it was in a time where I was close to Nature. :)

I think in time you will remember more.

I do get flashes of memory more often now.

gradually some get stronger for me and a picture emerges.

I've had little flashes while cooking and doing other household chores. Almost anything can be a trigger for a past life memory and certainly I feel they are very close to the surface and with a little practice can be brought more into day to day awareness simply by noticing them and paying attention.

I guess a lot of people might get a flash like this and put it down to imagination or 'daydreaming' but I think these are past life memories. They seem so clear at the time.

That's exactly what I thought had happened!! I was feeling a little spacey that day so I assumed I must have been daydreaming, but it felt more real than that for sure. Daydreams are usually fleeting, but this image has stuck with me since :)

I get a little bit 'spacey' around little flashbacks, too! Definitely separates out the daydreams from the memories a bit for me, the spacey-ness and the level of detail both.

Agreed, and I wonder how many of those little flashes may have happened unnoticed in the past while I wasn't aware! Personally, I've been a lot more aware and open to these things since I decided to get out of denial and start looking for answers.

Yes. Things like this seem to happen more when your mind is in 'neutral' - when you're not really thinking about anything in particular and are feeling relaxed. Doing household chores like cooking or cleaning or gardening, can put you into such a relaxed state of mind. Little kids will often start talking about past life issues when they're in the back of the car going for a drive or when they're feeling a bit sleepy, just before bed.

The way I see it is it's like a pond. Once there is less surface disruption from the day-to-day 'busy' thoughts and activities, you can see what's below the surface more easily, sometimes with great clarity. This is largely the purpose of various meditative techniques - to still the day-to-day 'chatter' of the mind so other things can float to the surface.

I've had 'flashes' while just brushing my teeth! Being in a slightly 'zoned out' state is the thing I think (as I said above). The difference is I know what they are I suppose rather than assuming I'm going crazy or it must have been something I saw in a movie or something like that.

These little snippets can be very useful though for 'practice' with meditation. For instance, Colours, you could have a go with this one. After doing some relaxation, breathing, and quietening the mind, you could try getting back into this moment and see what else there is to be discovered about this life. There is no doubt more in there somewhere waiting to be discovered.
