memory vs channeling

hi
my question is, when someone undergoes a past life regression and records their experience- how do they know for certain they're recording their souls past life and not another spirits ?
and...
how have you determined between imagination and a past or future life memory.

i read once about an author who wrote a murder story and did not know that a murder(the murder) took place in the room above him. it was noted he channeled the experience and included it in his book.

in another instance, there are professional channelers who commune with animals, living or dead- relatives that have passed or even living spirits from other dimensions.

not sure where i'm going with this other then... (?) with all these subtle forms of communication, how can we know what we're receiving is our own past life ?
and for that matter, is there such a thing as a *new idea ?

I have wondered if the lives that I'm getting all belong to me. The guidepost, in my case, is the amount of emotion attached. If the feelings are deep, I think the memories are mine. The feelings attached to fairly recent lives are often the strongest. Usually there are other, tangible connections - I live on a street with the same name as one of my lives, and one of them is buried where my family lives. Coincidences of that type tend to occur. When someone is channeling a spirit, doesn't the spirit speak through them directly? Do you have memories that you would like to hear opinions about? When you are ready, we are happy to listen. :)

I agree. You can tell it's real by the emotion you feel when doing a regression. You feel like you can reach out and touch what you are seeing. When you are asked questions about what is going on in the regression the answers just pop into your head without any hesitation.

BriarRose, i don't think the memory is of a future life as much as it was a fun idea i felt attachment to as a child. it is a vague memory of maybe leaving the planet in a ship and journaling my feelings. there was a strong emotion i could associate with and a physical feeling of coldness. maybe it was the ship itself that was cold. i've been curious but it's not something i've pursued. i used to think i remembered existing before being born as well. just floating in blackness i guess. having a personality or experiencing thought but no body attached to it. (?)

well thanks for your warm replies

This is off topic but do you think you are a "contactee"? There are also people who have remembered past lives that were not on earth.

no, i don't think so.

I guess that if we had the ability to channel spirits and such then we would channel several different spirits than just one or two. That we would get impressions of all these different things. That we would see things as a third party and not in first person. And as people were saying, that there really wouldn´t be much emotions related to the visions. Also, if we had the ability to channel we wouldn´t get much use of the information we get for our current life, except maybe to write a book or to set up a detectives agency.

Strong emotions may be all that is required for an individual to know it's their own past life, but people have been known to get it wrong even when the emotions were strong. If you want to convince others, you need some validating evidence (sometimes the evidence is contained within the memory received, other times it is in documented records if any exist).

The author/murder story is interesting. Did he/she actually channel or did they just pick up on the energy residue? I ask because when I visited an historical exhibition a couple of years ago, there was a very strong energy residue around one particular item. It was very distressing. Much later I came across another person who had been to the same exhibition, although in a different country, and had experienced the exact same thing.

There are planetary bodies/dimensions where the soul personality can exist without requiring a physical body.

hi firebird. i tried looking around online and can't find it. i think it was from watching a video with david wilcock. he was discussing things like telepathy and collective conscioussness. the murder, if i'm not mistaken took place in the same hotel as the author. hmm its been a while since i've watched the video (?)

it could be that the energy left a strong imprint and the author was picking up on that energy while writing out the ideas to his story. *shrug*

Strong emotions may be all that is required for an individual to know it's their own past life, but people have been known to get it wrong even when the emotions were strong.
This is why I don't trust emotion as an indication as to whether something is real for me or not. I can get very emotional over a character in a movie or story for example, and feel complete empathy for them and what they're going through, and imagine different scenarios as to what else might happen and how they'd react. (Nothing unusual in that, of course, anyone who's ever told a good story knows how to get inside the emotions of others.) Conversely I can relive in my head things that have happened to me, even very traumatic things, and have no emotional reaction at all. They're over and done with and I'm at peace with it.

That's interesting, Sister Grey. I learn more every day about how people react differently. One other marker of truth for me, is that I experience my "death" physically if the regression is real - not pleasant, and I wish I didn't! Otherwise, I'm kind of like you - I can cry for other people, but not myself! Sometimes, I would really like to cry for "me", but I'm not made that way. "Stiff Upper Lip", I guess!

My primary indicator of realizing who I was in a pl is an instant and clear sense of judgment and criticism for the entity I was in that past life. The opportunities missed, the bad choices, the people I hurt, all point unerringly to me...conversely, the appreciation and love and positive thoughts I hold for the others in that life are usually dramatically obvious also. Invariably, guidance helps me tone down the criticism and see the matters in play at that time and allow an appreciation for the role I played in that prior lifetime...I did find it humorous that the more impact I had in a previous life, the greater my sense of judgment...guidance said "you can't expect to do it all!"

Akashic Records

This is an interesting question you posted... Some metaphysicists and New Agers believe in something called The Akashic Records. They are all the memories of the greater collective unconscious of the entire world from all peoples, places and times - karmic lessons, arcane wisdom, and access to memories of the past. I think that the Akashic records are definitely something that can be accessed through meditation and perhaps hypnosis too - anything's possible. I work as a clairvoyant medium, (and was born this way), and a lot of what I do is channeling. Channeling tends to be very different (for me) from past life memories because it usually involves the desire/statement to speak with someone/thing in specific (deceased loved one, angel, spirit guide, etc.), and from there, the channeling usually just starts spilling out verbally, along with gut impressions or visions (even the type of visions that seem like imagination), and then of course through automatic writing and typing. Whomever you're channeling generally has a specific message or lesson to relay to you or someone else. Past life memories, at least to me, feel nothing like channeling. They come in dreams, hypnosis, and guided meditations and their meaning is often unclear to me, whereas channeling is pretty straightforward. I've never really been able to channel in a hypnotic or meditative statement, so that's how I tell the difference for myself at least. Here's a copy and paste of a recent channeling I did for a client... Maybe it will help you see the difference. This was a detailed Archangel channeling report for a client and the channeled message here is from Archangel Uriel. The parts in the brackets are where I had to insert punctuation and/or missing conjunction words (when channeling, sometimes a word appears to be missing here or there, mostly in terms of grammar and spelling and so the brackets just show my proofreading corrections and any places where I had to insert a missing word):

"This is my guidance on the decision you are considering making[.] Take heed[...] No[,] conditions aren[’]t favorable right now[.] Wait[.] In the present moment[,] look into other options[.] I see you and shine [my] light in the darkness on the path ahead[.] I help you [to] avoid stumbling over things you cannot see[.] I pick you up when you stumble[.] It is important [that] you do not forget your thoughts on this issue. The timing is not

right[,] [but] the idea is Divinely guided[.] Bring it to fruition gradually [and] everything will unfold in Holy timing[.] Do not fear the unknown [for] although you cannot see everything you desire[,] I can see it for you [and] I will guide [you] in the darkness[.]”

In terms of determining imagination from reality, well, there's no way that I know of to get a clear fact on whether what you've seen/dreamed is "real" or not. I tend to believe the stance that the ego (ego: edging god out) frequently tries to tell us that we're imagining things, aren't good enough for this or that, and is the culprit for most negative thinking patterns. So, for the most part, I accept everything as NOT imagination (unless for some specific reason or situation, it's an obvious fact - so far this has never happened to me though). So, I hope that helps answer some of your questions (from my standpoint). coffee
