My American Civil War Lifetime

Well, as of lately I've had a lifetime from the American Civil War (my next-to-last lifetime) trying to rear its' head. I've had very detailed recollections of what I looked like within a field hospital. This is the same recollection that I originally had a child regarding this particular lifetime, though I have (thankfully) now been able to view myself in said recollection. (It's really frustrating to keep getting, basically, only one recollection from this lifetime!) I started researching the uniform, but things are so muddled with regards to Civil War uniforms that it is proven rather difficult for me.

I did spend all of last night repeatedly dreaming of him...even though I was awoken about 4 different times. I don't really recall any details, just that he was in all of the dreams. It's frustrating to say the least. I'm on vacation right now, so in-depth work isn't really happening. I just wish that this incarnation would make itself as accessible has Hans had. ~sigh~

Yes, I know how frustrating it is - things seem to be just below the surface but no matter how hard you try they seem intent to stay put right there... :tongue:

I find things take their time to totally come to the surface. THere are many layers we have built up and maybe depending on the number of core issues we have to work on the amount of time varies from person to person.


I have had times where I even thought that I had a major healing from an experience,,, then it comes back to have another look at..


I wonder as well that times in history with alot of suffering like the Civil War are that much harder to deal with as alot of people are dealing with the repurcusions and we just feel the need to help everyone through their pain. For me it is a lesson in patience , in courage and in being a trail blazer, to make these changes I am feeling the need to resolve. .

Thanks for sharing that Laurasia, like some of the others have said, when you're ready, the memories will surface.


There's a lot of information out there on the American Civil War, instead of researching uniforms, maybe looking at some of the old photos of that time may stir something within you, there are loads of photos on the internet.


Let us know if you find out any more about this lifetime.

That's so interesting! I think the Civil War is so fascinating. Do you know which side you fought on? You can maybe tell by the color your uniform was or even the cap you wore. Here is a documentary that was aired on PBS and is available on DVD. It is my favorite Civil War documentary. :) Perhaps you could look up clips on youtube. It has hundreds of photos and even uses music from the period. :thumbsup:

Haha, yes I have Chris. All of my fascinations with certain periods of history are partly what brought me to this site in the first place. :) Perhaps I lived during the Civil War! Interesting side point: my favorite book is Gone with the Wnd. :rolleyes:

Thanks for all of the encouragement. A lot of my problems seem to come from the fact that my lifetime as Hans is so close to the surface that whenever I try to work on another "recent" military life it is Hans' memories that keep coming up. :butbut:


Anyway, in regards to the Civil War one....I believe that I was a Confederate & that I was more than likely a surgeon. That's pretty much it for now though.

Ah a surgeon in the confederate army.. a stressfilled time. I wonder that you may have done surgery on a friend of mine :cool . I believe he was in the civil war. Another friend said she could see him in her mind's eye in his grey uniform , confederate uniform so possibly on that side. I was his fiance then , awaiting and alas in vain as he died on the surgery table getting his leg taken off.


It was a mistaken memory for me to begin with , as first I had seen him as me. I had seen in the first regression to that time , the surgeon looking down on me as I wanted to scream in terror at the procedure about to be performed. I could have sworn to begin with that that was me doing the screaming. THen later , cannot remember the time line I had the memory of being this man's fiance. When I got to know this fellow this life my feelings and memories became clearer. It had been an arranged marriage. Upon meeting him this life, me a woman had an immediate crush on him . Then as I got to know him I realised he really did not turn me on.


So it was my broken heart still speaking from that life as I had/have not been married yet in this life and come to think of it have I been married since?? I will have to see what happened to that young woman . The consecutive 5 lives I did not marry .


I believe I had that cross over of memories as alot of my blocked issues revolve around my right leg, which was the one in that civil war memory. In my next life in India as a man , a sadhu looking for spiritual nirvana , I had had my right leg lost to a tiger attack. It was a tragic and short life dieing when I lost my footing and fell under a moving train in 1901. In previous lives the leg trauma was also involved. So the leg issue must have made me very aware of my friends trauma..

Very interesting story Soulfriendly. From what I have been seeing in my research, if he was wearing the grey uniform than he was a Confederate. Apparently people have a misconception that blue=Union & grey=Confederate, but it seems that the Confederates sometimes wore blue as well. I haven't seen that hold true in the opposite manner though....grey has always meant Confederate as far as I know. ;)


Yep, apparently a surgeon & one of rather high rank & wealth. Which actually makes sense because the two things that I wanted to do more than anything as a child was #1, be a surgeon & #2, be in the elite military. (I really have had a penchant for that military streak within my lifelines. LOL!)


I recall that I was disturbed by the primitive & barbaric conditions/methods that were used in the field hospital. I recall walking through one in a pristine uniform & not wanting to get any of the blood on myself....not from any sort of disgust (I was used to working with it after all), but simply because it was everywhere. I, obviously, was not there within a compacity of doing any surgery myself. It seems as though I was there to gather information of some sort...perhaps reports or statistics from one of the other surgeons? I cannot shake the feeling that I went to medical school in Europe somewhere due to my obvious "snobbery" regarding the conditions of the "medical practices" being used.


I was able to get a visual of my face & I was rather startled by what I found. He looked like myself now. (Except for obviously being a man. ;) ) The same brunette hair & texture, the same strikingly blue eyes, etc. His eyes were more striking however because he had a full beard & mustache to further contrast with the blue. I even recall that the ends of his mustache were styled slightly upward (though not in a full handlebar fashion, just the ends turned upwards a bit).


On a side note I was very happy to unexpectedly find a book on sale while here on vacation that has a section specifically about my last lifetime as Hans. (I told you that he keeps rearing his head even though I'm trying to focus on the Civil War lifetime. LOL!) It confirmed quite a few of my memories that I was not sure would ever be confirmed, while also giving me some facts that were missing from my research. So that has opened a flood gate of memories from Hans' lifetime too. ~sigh~ He always did want to be the "head honcho". :laugh:
