This is, of course, only the experience of one mother but it convinced me that parental influence/encouragement/belief in reincarnation isn´t a major cause for a child speaking about a previous life! I have two kids, a daughter of four years and a son who is seven months old. I had been interested in reincarnation research for years when my daughter was born. I pretty much expected her to talk about a previous life. I even took photos of her birthmarks. She started to speak when she was 11 months old - and never said anything that remotely resembled a past-life memory. When she got older I asked her directly were she had been before she was in my tummy, if she could remember being in my tummy or having been someone else and she definitely found my questions pretty absurd and had no idea what I was talking about. She wasn´t motivated at all to invent a story in order to please me. And that girl is smart and knows how to invent a good story! From first hand experience I can now say that stories kids make up are totally different from what children say who speak about a previous life! Actually, my daughter without past life memories convinces me of the reality of what kids who remember tell us!
