My son has always been very alert and happy, lively and into everything. when he was a tiny baby, before he even learnt to smile, his eyes just shone with what I can only describe as complete joy. He was early to speak and crawl, both at about 6 months of age. By 18 months he was using shrit sentences and I can't remember him ever being quiet lol. At about 7 months old, my mum handed him a wrist watch, the first time he'd ever held one. He put it right up to his ear, to hear it tick, even though it wasn't a wind up one, I don't have a wind up watch that ticks and I can't think of anyone that does. He's always had a very bemused look, as if he's sharing secrets, that he casts at me and my mum too. He seemed to know exactly what to expect from being a baby and even now doesn't realise he's only 6, he can't do everything. He wants to do things like clean my bathroom, make his own breakfast and has been doing this by himself since 2 yrs old. He's independant and confident and doesn't take kindly to being reminded he can't do everything.
He's always talked about things we considered to be quite beyond him, for eg he was 2yrs 1 month old on 9/11 and inadvertantly saw live footage on the tv (in UK, it was early afternoon) - he was destraught for months afterwards, yet you'd think a toddler of his age wouldn't take much notice, he honestly seemed to have an adults reaction to it. He's very sensitive and caring.
His ambition is to be a doctor when he grows up, as he's obsessed with the working of the human body. He has a poster of the inside of a person on his bedroom wall and is facinated by it all.
When he was about 4, he mentioned to me he'd had another mummy who didn't want him and that she'd left him outside in his pram all day and forgotten him. He's occassionally repeated this, if questioned says its the truth, insists he's not lying or pretending. Over the past 2 yrs he's never changed the story.
I asked him recently if he was married when he was here before and he rather sadly replied, he didn't get to grow up then.
He says he left his last mummy and daddy because they were mean to him and he didn't like being outside all day in his pram, so he came to be my little boy and he was happy because we wanted him.
My daughter was born expecting to have long hair, she has very intense looks and withering expressions, which when she was only weeks old, used to leave me cold. She used to sit on my knee and pick up my long hair to fiddle with while she sucked her thumb. She never seemed happy with anything, her will is too strong. She's always talked about a boy and another mummy, but the stories appeared about the same time as the youngest was born, so I'm inclined to believe that is its reason, rather than memories. She's very old fashioned in her mannerisms and behaviour though, very independant and strong inside. when I was pregnant with her, whereas with my son, all I every felt was the incredible happiness, even before I knew I was pregnant, with my daughter it was disapproval and annoyance.
My third child seems happy with being a baby, nothing like his older brother and sister, although he has the familiar gaze, he shares something with you in his eyes. He's very serious, my mum dreamed something about him before he was born and he looks like the baby she met in her dream, except there was another baby too, a little girl who was going to be born later on (thanks alot!) but who was so excited about it all. I suppose thats something we'll have to wait to see if it ever happens
not sure about that prediction!
