My Little Captain

Well, today, Delennn (the baby) is wandering around the house, playing army with some of the figurines here. A 'brother' and 'sister' are in the Army of God--at least that's what I think she was saying. According to this play, they keep getting sick, and she can't find the 'doctor' She is also referring to herself as 'Captain' (I get to be a Captain as well.) The other interresting thing I find is that she is walking around saluting while calling herself captian. Admittedly it's left handed, and only her index finger is actually extended, but I get the idea that this is only because she's two and a half, and not completely co-ordinated yet.

It all brings to mind the crusades when the church promised automatic salvation to any who marched on the Jerusalem, hoping to entice warriors, and ended up emptying whole villages, down to the smallest child. Everyone knowing, with the reasurrance of the church, that if they died on the march, they would automatically know heaven and god.

Not related, but the other day she had us make her a fishing pole from a stick and a piece of string. Then she climbed up on a chair, took off her shoes and socks and pushed her pants up to her knees then sat down and 'fished' for nearly half an hour.

Hi Megan

How cute...thanks for sharing...and as soon as I started reading about the army and religious connection, I straight away thought to the Crusades, just to find you'd come to the same conclusion a few lines down

Keep us up to date won't you...

And that fishing pole story was just the cutest

No one in this family fishes. Neither Dave, nor I care for the taste of most fish, and the ones Dave does like, he's allergic to. I can't rule out television for the fishing scene though. I just thought it was cute.
