My son Anthony is our fifth child. He was a "surprise" baby, but when we told my mother-in-law about the pregnancy, she said she wasn't surprised at all. She said she had dreamed I would get pregnant again and she really felt this baby would be a boy. Later in the pregnancy, she said she really felt that she had an unusual connection to this baby. She said she felt that his name was Anthony, although of course, we could name him anything we wanted. To my surprise, we had already decided to name him Anthony. I tried to find another name, just because the whole thing seemed wierd, but only the name Anthony seemed fitting.
He was born 11/20/00 and my mother-in-law came to see us in the hospital that day. To my amazement, the minute he saw her, he gave her this huge, huge smile!! I haven't ever seen a baby smile like that until about 4-6 weeks before and here he was, smiling his head off at my mother-in-law when he was less than 24 hours old. A few weeks later, he started cooing at her. Now he coos and smiles at everyone, but for weeks, he only smiled and cooed at either her or me. He seems to "know" her.
She has told me again that he is a very, very special baby. This is a woman who is very dedicated to all of her grandchildren, but he seems to be someone very special to her, even before his birth.
