A few months ago, I posted about my son's past life memory of a fire. He still mentions the fire occasionally.
What I'm posting about now, is a completely separate "memory." There is no reason why my son should know what he told me last night, and I have a lot of thoughts running through my head regarding it.
He and I were in the garage. My son turned 3 this past February, and we recently bought him his first bike. He was playing with it, while I sat on the steps to the entrance of our home from the garage. We store a lot of things in our garage, and next to the door on top of a storage bin, was a family photo album. I had given this album to my mother when I was young, and she had filled it with family photos. My step father, who was my younger brother's father committed suicide when my brother was 12 & I was 22. My mother wanted all the photos of my step father removed from her home, so I took them with me. I was just glancing through them, while my son played. He came over and looked at them, and said, "mommy, he's dead!" (his voice changed to the tone he had used when he spoke of the fire). I had been told, the best way to deal with a child's memory is to ask a question, so I did, "oh, he's dead?" He then went into a story... he spoke quickly, but what I got out of it was exactly what happened. "He was in the woods, he was running, he had a gun, the police men were coming. He was scared. He died mommy." It's hard to remember exactly what he had said, but that's the jist of it. I was in shock. How could he know? We never had spoken to him about my step father. Especially not his suicide. He then told me that he had a blue bike when he was younger and that he fell on his arm. Then my husband came outside and we just stopped talking about it. I wanted to hear more, but I know not to push it.
This is very interesting, as I had thought that maybe my step father would come back to us. He certainly had unfinished business. It gets even stranger because my husband was my step father's best friend. My husband was 15 years younger than my step father, but they spent a lot of time together. My husband and I met, and bonded because of the loss of my step father. I was not incredibly close to him, but we had our moments. I went on a vacation with him and my brother when I was 21. (My mother had been divorced from him prior to this trip). He took us to Las Vegas, and he certainly seemed to be on a downward spiral. One morning, I didn't even know where he was. He just never came back to the room. Eventually he stumbled in. He made me feel somewhat uncomfortable at times. He even told me that, "you're going to be my next wife," at one point. I shrugged it off as he had too much to drink. It would be ironic if in fact he is now my son, and we have a very strong bond. Maybe he knew that. Anyway, I'm a little overwhelmed with these thoughts. I originally thought that there is no way that my son is my step father. Reincarnation couldn't be so quick, and so "cut and dry," but after last night, I'm either thinking he is my step father, or he was aware of what happened to him somehow. Like he had known him out of body.
It doesn't really matter now, as he is now my son, and my step father is dead, as my son put it. I just want to make sure that I comfort my son, and to understand what he says to the best of my ability.
My son did not sleep well at all last night, I think he may have nightmares, and last night, I was up with him a lot.
Any thoughts, or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!!!
