my son's strange fear...

Hi everyone! I've read both of Carol's books, and it has totally opened my eyes to past lives. I didn't really believe in it before, but after reading both books, I can't get enough of it--I have to read everything on the subject of past lives! Anywho.... I just had a quick question for you all. Lately, my 3 year old son has acquired a fear of the hand dryers in public restrooms. He's always been a little wary of them, but it's just the past month or so he's completely freaked out by them. (Meaning, when they turn on.) When we go to a restroom, I have to promise him multiple times that I will not turn the dryer on; if someone else happens to turn one on when he's in there, he grabs me and won't let go because (I assume) he's scared to death. Since I've been reading more about past lives and fears that can come from past lives, does anyone think this could be stemming from something that happened in a past life? I've asked him why he's afraid, and his only response is because it's too loud. (Is there anything else I could be asking him to get more info?) Maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but I figured I should leave no stone unturned :) Thanks for your help!

Welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed reading Carol's books, and there is so much more for you to read if you check the Books and Links section, as well as many fascinating cases here in the forum.


It's difficult to know what to say in your son's case. Have you ever noticed if loud noises in general upset him? Or is it just the hand dryers? It could be that the sound is triggering a memory of something that sounded similar, that was traumatic in a past life. Or it could be that it's nothing more than simply too noisy for him.


I would just recommend keeping your eyes and ears open for now, and watch for any other little signs that could indicate a past life memory. You could try raising the subject with him again and ask him why the loud noise scares him, but make sure not to force anything out of him though. My daughter who is 14 months old, also has a fear of anything that has a "motor" sound and is loud, like Hair dryers, hand dryers, coffee grinder...she completely freaks out and will not stop crying till it turn it off.


Although I can't say if your son's fears are related to a past life or not, I think most kids are kind of scared of loud machine sounds like that. So, it might just be a natural reaction.
 
Yes, it could be a natural reaction, but on the other hand not all the children react the same way. I think most 3-year-olds are already used to lound noises like that. There are many possibilities. :)
