need more info on reincarnation books

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I've always been interested in reincarnation and sort of believed but never have read too much on it (mostly just about people who died and came back). I've been reading Michael Newton's book "Journey of Souls" and I'm almost finished it. I had some questions regarding the book.

Is there a discussion on this forum about this book?
Are there other books out there that discuss life between lives and do they correspond with what this author has written?
He did not mention meeting the souls of any pets. Is that discussed in another book of his or by a different author?

Thanks! One thing he did mention at the end of the book was how the soul is joined to the body and the body having certain personality traits already that were biological. I had a dream many years ago that told me the same thing. I had died in the dream and as I looked down at my body I saw her not just as a shell but appreciated and missed all the parts that were biological that had joined with me. Sounds weird but that dream changed my mind about reincarnation.

Hey Bamboodreams!! Welcome to the forum.

I personally have not read that book, but I have seen it mentioned here countless times. I'm sure when others read this thread you'll get an ear full. In the mean time enter the title in the search engine, it'll spit out every place it is mentioned. Also check out our book section. I think you'll find a lot of interesting things there.

Again welcome, thanks for joining us!!

Hi Bamboodreams, and welcome to the Forum!

As Tinkerman mentioned, the Forum does provide a rich bibliography of very good material, some of which touches upon life between life. I'm hoping that someone on this forum will recommend not only books on the subject, but possible passages or articles that touch on the subject.

Regarding your question as to whether they correspond to each other, I can say that they generally describe pretty much the same scenarios with only minor differences in detail. In fact, much of the information I've read about reincarnation in general is remarkably consistent.

As for pets, I have read a number of books that have mentioned animals, but I can't remember which ones. Although the core purpose of the Forum relates, most of all, to cases of children remembering past lives, and even periods between incarnations; the subject of pets does occasionally come up here, but the rules of the forum do limit discussion in this area. Suffice to say, that I believe that animals are entities with souls; and, as such, have their purpose between lives as well.

I had died in the dream and as I looked down at my body I saw her not just as a shell but appreciated and missed all the parts that were biological that had joined with me.
You have touched upon a subject that is often implied within most of the books and articles that are available. There is a definite emotional connection that we have with our biological bodies. In fact, it is often that connection that may be responsible for psychic scars and birthmarks. It may also be an explanation for cases in which people often resemble the person from a previous incarnation. It's a very interesting subject, which is a feature of much of the research done by Dr. Ian Stevenson and others. I would recommend reading about his research.

Our emotional connection with our bodies is very strong. We know that most people are emotionally connected to their houses, their vehicles and even their clothes and accessories. We never forget our first home, our first car, nor articles of importance, which have traveled with us through "thick and thin". Objects become talismans, whenever they are with us during emotionally charged moments or periods of our lives. When you dreamed about the separation from your body, you described with accuracy the emotions that many of us are likely to experience.

Bamboodreams,

Did you ever see that old Twilight Zone episode from season 3 called "

?" That's kind of how I see things, concerning pets ... (what kind of heaven would it be without some of your most dearly loved friends?)

It's funny you should mention that, Jody. I think about that episode every time I'm out with our dog. After years of being with him, I can tell what he's thinking, whenever he looks into my eyes. His needs and desires are not at all basic. He is like a five year old boy, except that he doesn't talk. He shows appreciation for little favors, plays tricks on me, and gets stubborn over issues of choice, which usually leads to him accepting compromises. Therefore, he is a negotiator. He becomes clearly saddened, whenever there is a disagreement among his human family and suffers greatly whenever any of us leave the house.

Although the rules of the forum don't encourage discussions about animals, I do believe that they can have souls, and that aspects of their "spirit" do entwine significantly with ours.

Thanks Nightrain. It's so bizarre to have this idea confirmed by others just as I dreamed it. I always knew the dream was more than a regular dream. There were other things in it that were very strange. I did not mention why I used the name Bamboodreams. It relates to another dream I had many years ago but I was adult and not a child. I am not Asian but in my dream I was a young Chinese girl taking a walk close to home. There was bamboo growing nearby and friendly people who would say hello to me but they were all speaking a foreign language that I could understand and I answered back in the same tongue. I have a strange feeling this little girl met a terrible demise on one of her walks but the dream did not show that.

Jody, Thanks for the link to the Twilight Zone show. I enjoyed watching it. I have read the rules of the forum and it was not my intention to talk about pet reincarnation but was only looking for further info on that topic. Thanks to all that posted on it.
