my niece always spoke to imaginary "friends" Between the age of two and three my sister overheard her talking about her mean mommie..So she asked her daughter why she thought she was mean...and she said (in a very adamant voice NOT YOU!! MY MOMMIE WITH THE DARK HAIR ...YOU WOULDN"T KNOW.. IT WAS BEFORE I WAS AN EGG CELL IN YOU BODY!!! Well it was pretty strange my sister called me immediately ( it was the egg cell comment that amazed us!)and we then asked her daughter all kinds of questions...she gave us the name of the town and the situation she found herself in and a house number REMEMBER she was just 2 1/2 I must also add she taught herself to read... at age two she would read the phone book and circle letters...she still is a very gifted student (and doesn't remember a thing!)

Since last night's broadcast of "Dateline" concerning children who were horrificly tortured, I've been haunted and questioning our merciful(?) God. I still have a hard time coming up with any justification for these evil acts upon defenseless children, but it comforts me to know they can eventually experience love in their next incarnation. Any thoughts on God and His role in karmic debts??

Dear Karma Thanks for your response.It seems the older I get the less I understand.( I should say the less I"m able to categorize and explain) Just "being" is one great mystery to me.
I didn't see the child abuse show on dateline but the kind of "evil" you refer to is beyond me. I like to think that the innocents involved are at peace..who knows if they return to a better life or if they have already found the perfect state of being.... As for God, you either chose to believe or not (I don't feel there is an "inbetween")

I guess you are asking why God would allow horrific things to happen to children. I don't think God is responsible for the conduct of evil people...they are responsible for their evil acts.
When people experience horrible things in life, some are paying back a karmic debt . . . while others have intentionally chosen such a life--where really bad things may happen--to learn spiritual lessons.
I do truly believe this...but yet I still cannot deal with violence against children--such as what you saw on TV or, for example, what happened to children during WWII . . . I simply cannot deal with it. I have to stop thinking about the matter...because I simply cannot deal with it--not emotionally, not mentally, not spiritually.
