I was reading the thread below about "what do babies see " I found that so interesting. A have a story to add to that...
Back in 1991 my father (My heart, and soul, I was a daddy's girl to the extreme) developed a rare form of cancer. This cancer was very aggressive and really could not be saved. This sickness was very degrading to my father ( the provider and spoiler), I watched my father deteriorate infront of my eyes. Fortunately it took only a short time but in those few months my father was in so much pain. Because of the radiation treatments to his head though the treatment did not work, but it did cause severe ulcers to develope on his face. After a short time he lost his voice and had to have a trach, and tube feed through a port in his stomach. He would always write down what he wanted to communicate. After a while he wanted to "go home", he was ready to die. My father did not want us to see him like that. I was totally devistated each time I went home to see him. fortunately I live in the same town. To see him and to look in his beautiful blue eyes and see the pain and look at his once strong arms that would give me big hugs now shriveled to nothing. The last few days of his life he wrote us notes. My note said he was so proud of me and he loved me so much. He said he would miss my college graduation and my wedding, but he said during all of my lifes greatest events " HE WILL BE THERE"...
My father passed away a few days after. I knew it was coming but nothing could prepare me for the pain, sadness and anger I would experinece. I was being treated for Endometriosis and I was takeing "lupron" to keep me from having a period and to treat the condition the put me into a state of pregnacy to treat this. Imagine my surprise when I went to the Dr. 1 week after my fathers funeral and I found out I was "REALLY PREGNANT". I was very shocked. During my whole pregnancy i moved back home I had to quit college but I was very focused on my pregnancy and did what ever I could to stay healthy physically and mentally.
I often talked to him during everyday chores. I was so very sad that dad could not be there with me when I have his grandchild.
Well he was right, he was there. When I was in labor before it really got kicked in good. And I was "unmedicated" people and nurse walked in and out of the room. Every one was at the end of my bed but something kept distracting me at the head of the bed, I kept turning my head thinking there was something there. Every one kept asking me what I was looking at and it then dawned on me I knew who was there!! I could feel his presence and feel the calm come overme I new everything would be ok..
I KNOW MY FATHER hand pick that precious soul to come to me in almost impossible medical condition. I tell my daughter how special she is.. I named her Alexis RAE (my fathers middle name)
I know my father is with me alot, and I have and my girls have been pulled out of some pretty dangerous situations. He also hand picked my husband. My husband is everything to me and is exactyl how my father was to me. He is the best husband and father to our children.
I know daddy is smiling at me all of the time
