For several years my now 7 year old son, Kenny has told me I was the best Mom he'd ever had and that if he comes back again he wants to come back in my tummy. Since he's said these things for a couple of years I've gotten used to it.
But a couple of days ago, he was getting ready to get in the shower and he was taking off his clothes and he said, "I love you Mom. This is my 15th life. I don't remember my other 14 lives." OH MY! I was totally stunned. I'm still stunned as I write this. He said it as calmly as he would say, "What's for dinner?" I didn't react but it was so profound that I got a pen and immediatley wrote it down so that I wouldn't forget it as precisely as he had said it. I was so stunned I don't remember what I actually said, but it was something mundane like, "Oh that's good, it's time to get in the shower now." I didn't know what on earth to do or say.
Since then a friend coached me to explore it with him and I am very eager to. I won't see him again for a couple of days because I had to leave on a business trip. But I welcome any tips on how to broach the subject with him, what are key questions to ask to help him remember, how should I respond, and what is helpful reading for a layman on this topic.
We have a very close, fulfilling and fun relationship and I want it to continue to grow that way. Thank you so much for your comments. I am filled with anticipation at what he might say and the new world he might open up to us.
