Past life glimpses from meditation?

I introduced myself on here a while back and expressed a desire to do pastlife regression; I have not bittten the bullet yet, but I have an appointment booked next month which I am looking forward.

However, I have recently started meditating and overall, I am extremely surprised at how peaceful I feel after a session. And as someone who came from a Catholic and later Christian background, I never ever thought I'd ever find myself doing this! Fortunately though, over the last few years, I have found myself growing spiritually and have shed the dogmatic constraints of my upbringing by coming to realise that "god" is the Infinite Centre and source of all Life rather than an athromorphised, wrathful being and that there can be no one absolute "way" and that is supremely arrogant and limiting for man to even suggest otherwise. Anyway, I digress.

I've been having sleeping problems over the last couple of years because of some medication I was taking for a kidney complaint and I have used the insomnia as an opportunity to meditate (I even had an OBE once, but that's another story...). In one particular session, I experienced something that impacted me to the core of my being, and I am convinced that it is past-life related.

As I'm new to all this, the images and reflections I received were quite "flickery" but they were charged with such emotional weight that I coudln't dismiss them as ordinary dreams.

In the first, I saw myself on a mountainside somewhere in Europe (somehow I suspect it was somehwere in Scandanavia). I was a young lad, between 14 - 17 years of age and I was either being lead or chased somewhere because I'd been accused of some wrongdoing (I don't know what that is yet). I "felt" that I lived in a village and the people following me were from that village. The thing that struck me the most about that was the fact that this lad was a mute - this struck a chord with me because in this life, whilst I'm by no means shy, I'm not the most talkative of people (I'm the type of person who only speaks if they have something worthwhile to say). Sometimes, I have even been frustrated with myself for my quietness, thinking that other people might see me as dull or uninteresting as a result (which I know is not the case). The life of this mute boy has gone some way to explaining why I'm not very talkative now. Either way, I felt this boy's story didn't have a happy ending...

The second vision took place in India. At one point, I had a flickery recollection of standing in a lush garden and heard somene shout "Kavi" as though they were calling someone, and I felt that person was me. In this recollection, I believe I was female. At one point, I also saw glimpses of a man who tried to shove me down, but I don't remember what happened after that because I abruptly broke out of the trance and felt a little unsettled and saddened. Interestingly, "Kavi" could mean many things. It could be short for Kavita (which is a female Desi name), but it also means "thinker" or "sage" in Sanskrit. Since I was a child I've been told that I was an "old soul" and wise beyond my years, BUT as far as I know, Kavis in that culture are male, but I definitely "knew" I was female in this recollection.

I will try and meditate on one of these again and I'm also interested to see if any of these crop up again when I do the regression next month.

Anyway, I thought I'd share these with you. Feel free to add any thoughts.

Hi Inphanta

It took me awhile to be comfortable with the concept of mediation as well being raised in the christian church. In the early 70s I kind of knew I needed to pursue some spiritual investigations of my own, and started looking into it . Some of my friends were hippies and had no problem with picking a spot at the park and meditating. But I always felt so embarrased-- even the thought of being seen with my legs crossed was too much..

I wonder since you have always bothered a bit that you are not a talkative person , and then this memory of being mute you could start with asking yourself what it is that you would like to be saying. Keying in on this feeling you may be able to associate this with a certain person who you know now or maybe in that past life. Let your mind remain open during your reflections and the person's face or the name will pop into your mind.

Hi Inphanta! Thanks for sharing!

I would say that the depth of feeling and emotion that was imparted to your recollections - the results of your meditation - is a good sign of their being past life related.

I was very curious about the mute boy - it's interesting how these things are so deeply felt during meditation, and even in spontaneous flashes sometimes.

Please share more when you have any updates - I expect your regression will probably bring more information!

Thanks again!

Hey Inphanta,

Wow, that pretty good going to get such past life detail while being pretty new to meditation. Ive been meditating for several years and have only just started getting flashes of past life stuff (I presume). The most recent was of pottery....there was a shelf of white glazed bottles (with no neck) with a blue glazed rim. But, in the middle was another vessel similar in shape to the white ones...but earthenware or terracotta....with an embossed face of a bearded man playing a flute. I had a feeling that I had always admired that particular vessel. Its been hard to find a picture of this vessel though, but I'll keep on looking.

I'm also quite-ish person. Have never really enjoyed or taken part in gossip or pointless everyday chit-chat. So, can sympathise with your feelings of frustration. But, unlike your 'mute' past life, I believe mine stemmed from a 'hermit' past life. I think it was in Scotland on the coast (have always loved the ocean and also visited Scotland last last year....felt like home to me). I think I collected kelp off the beach. I was female, knew no-one, but had the feeling of serenity and happiness. This past life came in a group regression and only lasted for about 1 min before my mind (someone said it was my soul) started spinning out of control .....anyone know why? Any suggestions would be appreciated. But, was happy to get that much information from the regression.

Inphanta, have you had any more past life success with meditation?

Hello Bondy

Glad you are making progress... I found the more time I devoted to regression work the easier it got.. And it was a very important thing for me to have been working at. I was drawn to this spiritual work , but found it difficult to feel that it was worthwhile work as my conservative roots of a materialistic and fit in the with Joneses was really strong.

When you felt like you were spinning out of control, did you feel that those people around you were able to support you? I would have found being in a group of people and doing a regression very difficult as I really could not trust at that time in my overwhelming memories of abusive times in my past lives. Our society is not good in general at handling feelings and so it is better to be around people we know will support us and understand.

You want to find those supports that will help you deal with the feelings that are coming up, if you do not have someone around who you can share with. Sharing here can be one step. I have had some wild memories , and through sharing on this forum it has gotten some of my feelings out so I could see where and why I was being triggered. Now I am trusting more and am more willing to open up. It is a step by step process .

Keep us posted on your memories. I love your avatar.. very beautiful and serene looking-- it being a flower which I adore and it being on water which really turns my spiritual side on .

Thanks you Soulfriendly, I must admit that there was no support in the group at all. I was dwelling on my feelings of the regression for a week before I found someone who I could talk too. Especially being my first, the sensations were completely new to me... the hermit vision was quite enlightening...but the next vision/sensation in the regression (before my mind started spiralling out of control) was not so great (I missed this in my last post as it didn't fit with what I was writing about). I was tumbling thru waves (completely different feeling to the spiralling) and then felt my neck break.. :( ..so, obviously that was my death. Was a little ataken back by the sensation, but not the death. But, it was still something that I needed some support with. Im believe Im a strong person- mentally and emotionally. So, I could imagine how someone who didnt have the same lucidity could 'freak out' after a first regression like that.

But, Ive read a lot of you past life postings regarding the many lives you lived during the Holocaust. My past life wasnt anywhere near the intensity or 'horror' (? might not be the right word) that you've re-lived. So, please dont think me supercilious. I have great admiration of your mental and emotional power.

The spinning thing still perplexus me as its happened a few times since... twice in meditation prior to an attunement (Reiki) and also during a breath-work session that I had. The practitioner suggested it was possible my soul wanting some free time (astral travel), but couldn't released from my body.:confused::confused:

Ive a friend who has done regression work before and is very supportive and nuturing. Im currently pregnant and have been informed by my guides that I have to be patient  with regressions until after bub is born. So, will make do with the 'flashes' during meditation until Sept. Then I should have some nice past life stories to post.

PS- thanks about my avatar. My fav flower too.....great symbol of how new life can bloom from the darkest places.

Blessings

Reliving those deaths after much horror and others as well left me raw and it was not good to leave those feelings unresolved at least to a certain point .. But for doing the therapy around it things were left worse off . This is why I believe in my first flashback to one of my deaths in the holocaust I was a basket case until I read Beyond the Ashes where it was all about people reincarnating from the holocaust , As well I got in touch with the yahoo support group which gave me much needed sense of support.

I know now if I decide to go into a traumatic experience I need to stick with it and work it through until I reach a newer level of some understanding. I will feel that something is rexolved and I know that it is alright to "return" to my daily life .. I still may have to return to the same event but it will require again searching for another set of solutions to how I am percieving things.

Even though we may have died many times and of those with the horror of being badly treated or the fear of being alone , I think the path of death is not something we become accustomed to but through some spiritual work and faith behind us.

My immediate thoughts of your spinning feelings

< That you were triggered by the death experience of going into the tunnel. As I have said I have a vivid memory of being in the tunnel and in one meditation I just remembered I also had a feeling of being pulled / attached to something negative . I actually had a sense of an umbilical chord attached to me and this negative force. It was very scarey.. I made an extra effort after that to do some work around strengthening my personal boundaries.

Meditation/ regression can leave a person too open to energies. Once when I was doing a treatment using a tuning fork { using the sound of the tuning fork on the body } I had a bad spasm in my arm.. We need certain amounts of strength of character in order to process our deep feelings.. I can see why it is for the best that you wait until after your pregnancy .. How far along are you??

I am wondering Bondy why you continue to meditate if you are not interested in bringing past feelings to the surface?? I have always felt meditation means that this will happen??

You know I have to share something. I did actually receive past life glimpses from some of my prior lives.. except for the life that I had in the Holocaust. I had prevented those memories from coming through and the last life I saw was my life before that which was in Britain.. that was a luxurious and long life but I learned very little from that and unfortunately created more karma. But I saw a blue room with velvet blue carpeting, and a black chest.. with a Victorian style hand mirror... that was my last memory from that life as I had passed on in that room. This was in Bristol, England and I must find time in my life to visit Bristol...

Soulfriendly, its amazes me that you've done it all on your own. Not only regress but deal with the results and also move forward. Brilliant acheivment. When you regress is there someone in particular that you consult with after about your experience? Or is this forum ample support?

Your 'spinning' theory makes sense. But unfortunately I dont get the feeling that I'm moving or asending...its more a sensation of being 'stuck'.... I have a feeling your on the right track. But, will have think about it.

Yes, in meditation you do have to be careful as your channels are very open. Ive gridded my room and also surround myself in white light as protection. But, I respect and love my child dearly and honour my guides request for 'patience'...as I believe its one of my life lessons. I have a habit of having my fingers in too many pies and wanting everything yesterday! So, slowing down and waiting is very difficult. I also really enjoying the growing spiritual connection with my child too and its something worth treasuring. He's currently 6mth gestation and will be born early Sept.

I meditate for several reasons....Firstly, meditating relaxes and calms me. It also clears and balances my mind, which gets me ready to focus during the day. The technique I use is 'mindlessness of breathing' which is a standard technique (primary meditation in Buddhism). Secondly, meditation also opens up my channels for distance healing. It also helps me connect with my guides. Ive also had conversations with my son during meditation...he's informed me that he's the reincarnation of my brother. My parents had a son before me, but died one week before birth. He also said it was the happiest life he's had on earth! So, meditating for regression is not an aim, but I will accept it if it happens.

Blessings

Hello Bondy,

I have not consulted with anyone about my memories/ therapy self regressions. I seem to be very lucky in finding things pop up that give me insights to work things out.. As long as I keep on asking my questions ,problems eventually get answered.. \\

This forum is definitely part of that healing. Like this week Msmir posted something and i got to reflecting on my emotions , realising I still had phobias[ triggers} to the horror of starving .. I spent that morning reflecting/ fighting for healing while doing dishes etc . By the end I had gotten the fear out of my system. Now I cannot say for sure it is totally gone but in other experiences around other phobias I can see that I have made a dramatic change and some have totally gone.

Today I was doing some decorating . I brought out a rug { a big round braided rug I had made that was in storage.} , thinking I would like it for a change. When I put it down I did not like it .. It felt too hot.. > In previoius summers I had really liked it.. Those other summers I had had a phobia of being cold and freezing. Now I no longer need that.. I feel warm enough. I remember the time I got over this phobia from sharing on another forum through yahoo called unlocking the door. So my emotional state is changing from sharing .

I am so thankful for all of the support --listening to me and sharing your own personal stories .. thanks everyone for your particapation.

Hiya Bondy - I don't think I've said hello to you, but welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing your experiences :)
