Picking up on others' memories

I seem to get all these glimpses of things happening in certain eras, especially during the second World War, but they can't ALL be from the same life because of inconsistencies. I don't know if these are false memories are just the memories of other souls; does that happen often? I wonder if your soul is affected by a certain event strongly enough that it might pick up on the memories of those who also happened to lived through it.
Has this happened to anyone before? And how do you stop it, if it even can be?

Just curious... it's a little annoying. I'd be really interested in hearing similar stories if anybody has them, and how you've dealt with this!

I used to think I had been killed in World War II because I had a vision while doing a regression using self hypnosis. The vision seemed like it was from inside a concentration camp. Auschwitz maybe? I asked the psychic who I was getting past life readings from if this was real. He said I was there, but not physically. Meaning my soul (or ghost?) was there observing what was going on. This is also when the psychic told me I had been killed in World War I, which makes sense and explains why I thought it was World War II. So it seems that in between lifetimes we can observe what is going on in the physical world if we choose to. Also in the book "Soul Survivor" James Leninger told his parents that he observed them while they were on their Honeymoon in Hawaii and that's when he picked them to be his parents. This was more than a year before he was born. He correctly described things they did on the honeymoon that he had no way of knowing. Needless to say, his parents were blown away when he told them this.

Good theory & 1 that has confused me. I know I pick up other peoples past lives also. Not sure how to go with it except gut feeling. The 1 have posted confused me but maybe when you have a number of regressions relating to that time you can be confident. Surely that's more than coincidence?

That's interesting, Argonne, but I'm too sure if that's the case for me. I'm not really sure what to think, honestly, but thanks for the responses!

Hi Red Night,

I also have asked a similar thing here before. Since I began having dreams/visions, I have seen the lives of different people overlapping during the same time periods, and like you have wondered whether far from being 'simultaneous past lives', if they are in fact other peoples' memories I am picking up on.

For example, I wondered whether they might have crossed paths or something in their own lives, that I am having dreams of them all within a defined time period, but having found the census records and followed up some of them, I know this wasn't true, as they were living in different countries/continents and there was no way they could have met.

I don't know about stopping them, since mine come to me of their own accord. But they seem to come for a reason, and though they may bug me while they are there, it seems once I've chased them around, and found the answers, or learned lessons as a result of seeking the answers, they decide enough is enough, and then disappear of their own accord.

My only advice would be to see what they may be trying to show you and keep your mind open to seeing what they are trying to teach. You may find like me the answers come at the most unexpected moments! Hope that helps! :-)

Lynnette,

Thank you for that. I sometimes wonder if they are simultaneous lifetimes, but I don't think that's it either really. I'll try to see what they can teach me though. :)

Hmmm....I had a dream once, in which I was being regressed with other people, and the person sitting next to me started remembering, and hearing them triggered memories of my own. I don't think I knew the person, but we were remembering the same time period, perhaps the same event. Interesting trigger, only ever happened the one time.

Hi there Red Night, fellow empath !!!

Several years ago, I met Carol Bowman on a reincarnation weekend in Belgium. On the second day, there was a group regression, and afterwards she asked people if they liked to share their experiences.

I also had been successfully regressed during that session. It brought me to a medieval lifetime, where I was a sort of bard or minstrel, but I ruined my life with alcohol.

When the people were telling about their regressions, they were of course all different from mine, except..... details from 4 or 5 people' s memories also occurred in my memories. This made me confused, I was not sure anymore if my regression was real...

I asked Carol about it, and she said it happens sometimes, with people who are very empathic (this means easily picking up other people's feelings or moods). Most likely, in that altered state I picked up details from other people's past lives, and mixed them with my own memories. (Those details were not only emotions, also 'memories' of, for example, the house/hut I thought my mother lived in.) In short, the important stuff of my memories was probably correct, but the details I got from others.

If it can be of comfort to you, I can't control it either. :(

I think it can be compared with PL dreams where sometimes some fantasy or real life problems/situations might be interwoven with the PL memories.

Eevee,

You know I've never really thought of myself as an empath, but maybe I am because what you say resonates with me, at least to an extent. I think too that I do have an over-active imagination; that can't be a very healthy mix! Especially when you then add that I was so desperate for so long to figure out who I was, instead of concentrating more on who I am.

I like that last bit where you added about fantasy and real life situations being mixed in with PL dreams. I hardly ever have a dream where anything is normal; they're always a bit crazy. All of my possible PL dreams are mixed in with other stuff.

Thanks for the reply :)

Hi Red Night,

In your original post you didn't mention how you experienced what you think might be other peoples past lives. Is it visual? Do you ear or feel situations? This might help you discern the differences between yours and someone else's.

For me, I get visual impressions, like holographic projections. It's difficult to explain. They are fluid, in motion and show the multi-dimensional aspects of the soul.

The best way I can explain this is to reference the holographic projections at Disneyland in the Haunted House. Imagine seeing a physical person and over their body is a holographic projection of light that fully describes another bodily form. This is how I sometimes see people.

It is as if - both are happening simultaneously. It can happen even during a waking state in a crowded area and with complete strangers. Another interesting thing is that people do not necessarily look the same from one life time to the next. Sometimes there are similarities, but most often they are very different.

Here's an example......

While finishing up my Masters Degree in college, I was walking to class and a small Asian man was walking toward me. Maybe 5'3." Suddenly I could see him in his past life superimposed, holographically over his body now. The holographic image of him was of a black man, around 6' '7" and very large boned. He was huge! As I watched, his essence/soul seemed to be uncomfortable with his size..both in this life and the last one. It was an interesting observation for me.

I look forward to your description of your experiences. :)

Hi Deborah,

I'm afraid my experiences aren't as interesting as yours. They're always these tiny glimpses inside my head; I get excited about them and then my imagination usually runs wild after that...

But thanks for sharing, that most be really fascinating to see!

Hi Red Night,

Don't discount your glimpses. There must be a need, or you wouldn't be having them. Have you tried meditation after the experience? Sometimes clarity comes in dreams or meditation.

Just ask spirit, let go and be open to what you receive.

Ask for validation, if possible. That will help you decern what is imagination. It helped me over the years, perhaps validations will help you. :D

I get validation all the time for one life in particular, but everything outside of my self points to me not being that person. And the validation can sometimes get weirdly obvious too. I can't help wondering if I was that person; I've had multiple dreams where I'm in that body and not my own too. But like I said everything points to me not being them. So, I kind of have a love/hate relationship with validation.

As for meditation, that's a work in progress!
