PL Memories of Death

Ghost of Gumby

Hi, Friends : )
Does anyone have any memories of dying in a past life? If so, please explain the experience in as many details as you can retrieve. I am wondering if many of us can recall what it was like to die, perhaps this can shed some light on what it is like to pass on to the other side, or what it is like for the soul to separate from the body. Are there memories of a migration of the soul from one existence to another, from the old self to the new? Also, are there memories of the circumstances of the death, or how you died? I think that this would be interesting to investigate and to see if some experiences are related.

I have vague memory of me walking down the street and getting shot, ending that life. Perhaps this is why I have such little patience for people in this life.

I remember being shot also. I didn't talk at that point in that life and was trying to take the attention of the soldiers off the other people there that they were attacking. I shot at an iron pot they had tied to a wagon they had with. The idea was to get their attention with letting them know I wasn't shooting at them since it was far enough away. I thought it was clear enough since it was in a different direction but either they didn't get it or didn't care, I just wanted them to quit attacking the people they were even if that meant I'd likely die. I was ok with that since I thought I was who they wanted anyways and just hadn't noticed me.The soldiers were yelling alot but none of us knew about what so it was my guess they wanted me. ( with my knowledge in this life, I think they were hassling us because practicing non Christian religion was illegal, it was the medicine man they were hassling initially and they were destroying his things and excalated from there, the only people there with him, including my self, were either sick or injured)

When I got shot I remember only being extremely angry at the soldier pointing the rifle at me because I recognized him from a previous bad encounter, then I remember being curious about dying when it was clear to me that was going to happen. I only remember being afraid for about 1/2 a second. I went from anger to curiosity with that 1/2 second of fear in between. I remember feeling the bullet go in my left eye but not feeling pain, that lasted less than a second then I was watching the scene again from a different angle and I was extremely angry again. The soldiers went back to attacking the others which was an old man, a young mother and her newborn, and my grandmother. They killed the baby, dragged the mom off and there was no one there that could stop them. I remember yelling and being furious but I couldn't do anything, I was dead. I remember being angry because I was dead and the %$#&@#$ soldiers weren't. I remember a friend who had died came and stood next to me and told me to come with, that's where that memory ends.

* At the beginning what I mean by attack was the soldiers were breaking things the old man had and were pushing at him, then they grabbed the baby basket with the baby in it and threw it. That's when I shot the gun to get their attention away. I thought if I shot at them we'd all be dead not just me. I don't know a better word than attack to use though, "hassle" is waayyy too mild, attack usually implies gunfire but I think I was the only one shot, they still were attacking though in every other way. They were destroying and killing.

argonne1918, I think it was the fall of 1886. It was somewhere in the badlands and I was native. I'd like to research this one to find records of some kind just because I still want to know what they wanted. This was the end of a long series of memories of a period of that life where we had left suddenly with I think around 50 people. I remember thinking of it as a kid and thinking I need to tell someone, I was shocked usually remembering it ( but I can't recall the reason we left, just the events that followed, I did remember as a child though and it was the initial event that shocked me, the one that was the reason why we left so fast, so why don't I remember now????), I can't find anything in any books, websites, anything that mentions anything that sounds familiar. There isn't much mentioned of that time period at all. The books mostly all jump from 1876 to 1890 and leave out anything in between. Whatever happened must have involved just the people I was with so it may have been something local to me then. I need to know the right people for this one. It might be something only someone's great, great gramma or grampa recalls and something where any records are in an old box somewhere. This was something that occured starting in, I think, the summer of 1886.

Thanks for sharing this interesting account Wednesday. You obviously died in the most horrifying circumstances. You have described this event very well. I think that this experience gives us a view of what it is like in that moment of death, the soldier standing over you taking aim, shooting you, and your brief feeling of fear followed by an inexplicable peace. You say that:

" I remember feeling the bullet go in my left eye but not feeling pain, that lasted less than a second then I was watching the scene again from a different angle and I was extremely angry again." This indicates that you left your body quickly after death, and then you were watching the scene in your disembodied state. You also saw your friend who had been killed, talking to you and telling you to follow. So this indicates that the conscious state did continue with no interruption upon your death. Also you were still occupied with what was happening in that place. This demonstrates a keen awareness upon death, yet you still feel that anger, so it is difficult to detach from the event. I think that your account remarkably demonstrates a picture of what a person experiences in a traumatic death.

Go to Wikipedia and search for "American Indian Wars". They list most of the known battles and massacres. See if any of them sound like your dreams, etc. Some of these locations are now historical sites that you can actually go and visit.

I can remember dying in a volcanic eruption in a previous life. I can remember a cloud of hot ash tumbling down the side of the mountain almost as if it were alive and coming after me, because it seemed whichever way I ran, and however fast I ran, it was always coming in my direction and I couldn't outrun it. I can remember fear that turned my legs to stone, slowing me down, guilt at leaving my father to a certain death, even though I had very little chance of survival myself.

When the ash cloud caught up with me and engulfed me, I remember a shudder through my body like an electric shock. It was like severe pins and needles everywhere, and it lasted for just for a moment. There was no 'pain', no sensation of burning, and in an instant, I was outside of my body, above and ahead of the ash cloud, looking down. I couldn't 'see' my body, but somehow I was still 'aware' from a third person perspective, of my former self raising her hands to shield her face, then being knocked to the ground by the force of the cloud before she was most likely vaporized by the heat.

I can't honestly say what I was feeling in the moments after my death. Fear and guilt were present at the moment I died, but whether they were still there immediately after as I was 'watching' the events unfold, I cannot say. It all happened so quickly, and I am unable to remember what happened next.

Thanks for sharing this experience Chris. I wonder if this happened in the Roman port city of Pompeii or Herculaneum? It is interesting how you describe the moment of death as like pins and needles, and then you are suddenly separate from your body and observing from above, even as you are overtaken by the molten material and ash. Your memory is also of the death being painless, which is similar to Wendesday's account. I wonder why you felt the guilt and fear that you mention?

Hi Ghost. Although I've always been interested in the fate of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the events of my past life took place in a remote area of Ecuador at the Sangay volcano in 1957.

I think the fear that I felt was to be expected under the circumstances. But the guilt was because I was with my father when the eruption occured. He tried to lead us to safety in a body of water, but he became trapped and ordered me to run for my life. Being very young (12 years old) I was torn between staying with him, or whether to try and make it out of there on my own. I had no family besides my father, so naturally I wanted to stay with him, but fear took over and I ran and left him to a certain death.

I have experienced deaths for each of the lifetimes I have reviewed during my past life meditations. While the circumstances of each death varied in cause and level of violence and human tragedy, each one was met with relief and an interesting sense of satisfaction. Also, as I was leaving the body I was able to see through my eyes and somehow outside at the entire situation at once. While I may sense some regret and/or judgment for missed opportunities, I also usually end up focused on the benefit and positive aspects of that lifetime.

As for the actual sensation of dying in the body, the easiest seemed to be dying from a slicing neck wound; I was a young east indian man and I shoved a girl out of harms way only to be struck in my neck...there was initially a sense of brief pressure at the site of the wound, then only a slow sense of peaceful weakening. I watched the little girl looking scared as my vision went, and was able to watch the entire scene and those around me fruitlessly trying to staunch the blood flow...no pain, no regret...only relief.

On another occasion, I had just committed murder and in turn was poisoned. While I saw myself writhing in pain, I only felt an increasing pressure in my chest...I think there was some disconnect between the mental aspect and the body sensing it was dying as the poison was killing the body through my stomach, but the pressure was my soul being wrenching out of my chest...at least that's the sense I get. Of course, no pain to go with the writhing...simply pressure in my chest...and again, a huge sense of relief, as I really did not like that guy...he was brutal, unattractive, bitter, angry, greedy, etc...but did the right thing in committing murder, and paying the price.

In a WWII lifetime I was riddled with machine gun fire and each bullet brought a point of high pressure...no pain, only relief and happiness and anticipation...I spent the next 17 years "over there", which is fairly long for me. While I had a very brief view of the entire scene after dying, I left quickly and didn't spend much time with the aftermath...I seemingly died in accordance with the plan and left to work on other things.

I have found that with that WWII lifetime I still hold some regret in that I was in charge of my small group and we all died. While we all planned to die, my actions postponed that death and we lived for a few more days pinned down in a very closed environment and I put myself through alot of self-loathing for having gotten us locked into the classic "box canyon"; we lived a little longer, plenty of time for me to question my decisions and ask myself "if only I had done this, maybe...", only now realizing the only choice was to die earlier or die later. This is the lesson I have only recently learned...and several of those guys who died with me then are with me now and always seem to be there with support and reassurance for me in whatever I am doing...planned in this lifetime to ensure I know they understood I did the right thing then? I can find no other reason...especially when they go out of their way to do it...and guidance says "why else?".

To me, each death is simply the transition home from this temporary "reality"...I cannot help but think that we serve ourselves best when we live life as if we were actors on a stage...play the part, live the role, be that larger than life actor who leaves nothing undone while performing...

I only remember actually dying twice. The first was during the Greco-Persian wars and I dont remember what took me down, but I believe it was either an arrow or a sword slash to the back of the neck. I remember being conscious but completely unable to move and my companions dragged me back to behind the fighting line I remember laying there staring to the side and then had the the stereotypical 'floating above the body' for a few seconds before everything blacks out.

The second was during WWI and I was in a shell hole somewhere, I think, in no mans land. I know I was really badly hurt and in shock but what was most on my mind was that I was completely terrified that I was going to be gassed. I think I knew that there was supposed to be some deployed and I didnt have my gas hood with me for some reason (I know why in the dream but I do not recall now). I dont actually remember the actual moment of death, but I believe the memory I have is very close to that time.

From all of my memories of pastlives, I only remember dying in the pastlife previous to this life now. I was murdered in a gas explosion in my own home, which later looked like an accident. My husband, who murdered me, was never suspected. The explosion was so intense, that it catapulted

me into the air and because our home was on a fast flowing river, that is where I landed. When I hit the water, I knew that my body wasn't all there, but my brain seemed to be functioning very well. I had no pain...I floated down the river, sometimes above water, sometimes under water, still very detached from the situation, untill I saw some cattails growing on the banks and I knew if I couldn't grab these and stop myself I would die. What is amazing to me is, that I was very rational, there was no panic. I had no strength to hold onto the cattails and this time I went under water for good. I remember holding my breath and then all at once taking a huge " breath" under water and to my astonishment, I was breathing. I was warm and the colors of the river had changed into colors that I cannot describe with human words. Then I heard music, although music is also a word that does not describe what I heard, it was soooooo beautiful. In front of me was a book like object and it opened up and I saw myself as a small child of about 5 watching a parade outside of my parents home by a beautiful woods. As a child I had always loved these woods and it gave me great pleasure to see them again...I was full of love in my last moments...my memory ends there!

Thanks for sharing these memories Aelfgyva, Gryph, and usetawuz, I found all of these accounts very enlightening into the death experience, and there seems to be many common threads in all of these experiences shared so far in this thread. I don't know if anyone has ever researched the death experience using past life recall, but it would be a fascinating area to investigate. One common element that I've noted is the ability to move away from the body upon death, and to observe what is happening. I was especially touched by Aelfgyva's description of the moment of death:

"I was warm and the colors of the river had changed into colors that I cannot describe with human words. Then I heard music, although music is also a word that does not describe what I heard, it was soooooo beautiful. I have a faint memory of dying in my past life as Katie, probably about 1952 in post WWII Germany. I had become pregnant to an American soldier, and we lived in a small apartment in Wiesbaden. I became very weak, and I saw myself laying in bed, so weak that I could not get up. Somehow I made it to the bathroom where I collapsed and hemorrhaged, and died. My next memory was of the funeral, and I saw many people, my mother and sister, gathered around my coffin. There were trees all around. I was above the people, and I watched as the pastor said prayers and my family wept. I also have dreams of moving about the city as a spirit, visiting the train station in Stuttgart and other landmarks in the city. I could go up to the top of the buildings and sit there, looking down on people below. I was also given the charge to go and rescue the souls of lost children, many of them in the Altes Scholss castle. I flew into the castle and had to fight an old woman there. She was protecting the children but her over protectiveness was preventing them from entering the light. I felt like I was losing power in confronting her, but I did prevail, and saved the children. I think this is interesting becuase it shows that we may be given tasks to do in the afterlife.

I have two memories of past-life deaths. The first one that I remembered, the memory came as a result of getting a big button pushed. It was a reminder of a past-life death.

I was living in Oregon with a woman friend and we needed to get some firewood so that we'd be warm for the winter. The place we rented had a wood shed, but it leaked like a sieve. I purchased some plastic sheet and asked my house mate to help me put it over the woodshed. We then put boards and rocks on the plastic so that it would not blow away in the wind. At one point she found a metal fence post and put it roughly on the plastic. That hit my button. I took the fence post down saying “What are you doing? You are going to poke a hole in it!” She liked the fact that I got upset and so she threw the metal fence post back onto the plastic. That hit my button full on and I started screaming!

I then said we're just about finished, so you finish this, I need to go and handle this reaction. I was feeling that my house mate was a horrible ding-a-ling and I was feeling guilty for over reacting. I got quiet and started asking myself questions. Fairly quickly I asked a good question and got a useful answer. I asked; “What is the feeling telling me?” The answer that came right away was “My life depended on the integrity of the material.”

I then scanned this life and knew that this was not from a present life event and it was certainly not at this present time. So, I figured that it must have come from a past-life event. I then asked myself more questions and eventually asked a good question, which was; “How could my life depend on the integrity of a material?” The answer that came was “canoe.” So I imagined myself in a canoe to see if I could connect with some memory. I did. I could sense that there was a woman on the other end of the canoe and she was REALLY ****** at me. I also, felt like she was a big ding-a-ling. I figured that she was angry because I been telling her that.

I then was telling her I needed a tool that was on her side of the canoe. It was something quite sharp. She picks it up and throws it, saying “Here!” My reaction was “OH you ding-a-ling. Why did you do that!!!!” With that, I understood that it went through the bottom of the canoe and we both probably died. With that realization, my big upset dissipated. I knew that the woman that I was living with was not that same ding-a-ling and that my reaction was not an over reaction for a memory of dying. It all resolved!

As I contemplated what had happened, I felt incredibly empowered. These sort of upsets had happened many times before and I'd been upset for weeks even a month once. Now I realized that these unwanted emotions could be handled quite quickly! This lead me to connect with more past-life memories. I did find it difficult to connect without a very significant emotion going in me.

I do not remember my actual death, it was the above that had the big emotional charge for me. It was the same thing with another life where I drowned. Through some light hypnosis I connected with a life on a sailing ship. I just could not stand the way I was treated and so I decided to attempt to create a mutiny. I figured that if I did not succeed I'd get thrown over board and I'd be out of that mess the other way. I was able to connect with the sense of being picked up and felt apprehension at seeing the ocean water, but I was not able at that time to connect with any trauma.

Several weeks later I was having some night terror about sleeping and breathing. I was afraid that I might die in my sleep due to improper breathing. This was really bothering me as it was very difficult to get to sleep. So, I tried my technique by myself that I've used many times with other people and it worked! I think it was because of the big emotions I was feeling. What I connected with was the feeling of being in the water after the above mentioned being thrown overboard. As the ship sailed away, it was HOPELESS! I tapped (EFT related) to release the hopelessness and it was gone quickly. I then rolled over and went to sleep and have not had the same problem since.

Again I did not remember my actual dying. The big emotion was the hopelessness. I've worked with other people on their past-lives and about 30 were connected with past-life deaths. There were two that I remember well, that were very different. But, I vaguely remember a forum guideline of “don't post” about other peoples past-lives. So, I'll need to wait until I can recheck that guideline before I post about these.

I have memories of dying, in a few different times and places. In one life I remember more then things just going 'black', like the others.

Me, and everyone else living in this village (I believe dark ages period), were taken by surprise in the middle of the night, and the village was burned to the ground with everyone in it. I remember the intense heat as the thatched roofs caught fire, confusion, screams of people trying to find their family members so they could be together at the end in the streets - I was absolutely terrified. Then suddenly I no longer felt the heat, and I was standing there watching everyone. I had already crossed over, it was so quick! I stood calm, where I had just been terrified. I was waiting. Waiting for the others I knew to join me. I was completely calm, didn't even feel anger for the people who had done this raid, I was just waiting for the others.

Now that I've checked it was; no "psychic impressions of other people's past lives." So since this came from the actual person, I presume that what I'm sharing here is OK. These are (psychic) impressions of their own past-lives.

There was someone that viewed their body being put on a cart and taken away. They were obviously dead and yet this person was in extreme panic and confusion by the body being taken away, after they were dead!

In another instance, a woman had taken advantage of the people in her/his area by being in control of the grain and siphoning off large amounts for him/her self. The people finally had enough and this person was killed. Only after death, did he/she know what he/she had done and felt huge remorse for what was done.

This life was visited because of the question of; "Why do I have the good things in my life always taken from me?" This looks to me like self created "karma." That is, she created lots of this "good things taken from me" so that she could learn and understand the other side of what she had done.

I think that it is interesting that so many have come forward with these memories of death in a past life. I would have never guessed that so many people would remember such an event. Perhaps this is because death is such a crucial event, it must be ingrained somewhere in the mind, although not always remembered. It is interesting how these memories begin to emerge, in dreams or sudden recall during our waking periods. Many have described death as being like a great "release", devoid of pain, yet the emotions of remorse, anger, fear, remain intact. Perhaps it is these intense emotions which we carry forward into our next life.

Not a clear one that I'm sure of.

I do remember a shell exploding directly above me, a bright white flash and a loud "WHOOMP!" as air rushed downward in a hard column, and then darkness, but given where I likely served and where they buried me (a 20 km distance, soldiers weren't usually taken that far), I think it's possible that I may have survived the initial blast.

Was it traumatic to recall a death experience from a past life? I am wondering if perhaps such a memory could be stressful to our emotiional state if it were remembered, and yet judging by the accounts in this thread, many do have recall of their deaths in a former life. I would imagine that a dream or other recall of a PL death would be stressful - for instance, it would be unpleasant if one were to dream of having a heart attack as another incarnate. Yet many seem to indicate that death was not unpleasant to remember at all. I wonder if that is because death is a release from the body, therefore a release from pain and fear?

In my case it wasn't traumatic recalling my death, it was remembering the situation that caused it. Dying for me wasn't a release, even if it wasn't painful. I would have rather stayed alive and fought it out longer. I felt like I failed everyone there, especially the girl and her baby. I was angry that I died.

What I Remember

I remember being fearful and knowing I was going to die during my life as a young Irish immigrant girl. I was a tiny person, and was hugely pregnant, with no medical aid of any kind, save the women in the tenement building.

And it came to me that I haddied. I don't remember the actual death, just the knowledge that it would come soon. I have had very difficult pregnancies, and had it been 100 years ago I certainly would have died giving birth.

I've always been fascinated with Iceland, which is kind of an odd place to be fascinated by, at one point I tried to teach myself Icelandic. Anyway, a couple of years ago I was doing a regression tape, and it took me to early-medieval Iceland. What happened was my sweetheart went to sea and never returned. I spent the rest of my life in a cave high in a cliff face, too hurt to face life without him.

I seemed to be a mature woman at the point of death. I was making my way along the narrow path going to my cave. I had done it hundreds of times, I'm sure. My foot slipped, and I tumbled off the cliff. I left the body before it hit the ground, and watched it falling. I saw it lying there, splayed on the rocky ground. I wasn't upset at all. The feeling was surprised as h***. I don't remember anything of what happened after.

What is odd about this, is that in early 2009 I slipped on some stairs, I saw my foot go down, and knew it was coming. I broke literally every bone in my left foot and ankle. Due to the circumstances, breaking my foot was literally the end of the life I had been living for 25 years.

Yes, that is how it works. Very likely this is a pattern that you lived more than twice. If you were to COMPLETELY eliminate the traumas behind this, it would never happen again and most likely you would find a way to completely heal your foot.
