Okay when I was a child I used too try and tell my parents things that I knew, things that I knew had happened to me before, but when I would they would say it was bad to 'make up stories and tell them to people when they werent true'.Ever since I would try not to speak at all, because I was afraid of being bad.So I started to forget some of the things that I would try to tell my parents, and Im just recently starting to remember some of them. And I find it hard to talk to anyone about my past,in this life and in the former ones, except with 2 people who I have encountered in my past lives. And I have also found it hard to speak at all becasause Im afraid to say something wrong. Is it my parents fault I repressed these memories? And if so is it wrong to have bad feelings toward them now for making me silent for so long for fear of being a bad kid?

OceanGrace,

I don't feel that it is your parents fault that you weren't able to talk about these things. The likely were not open to such thinking. Are they older? I mean, seniors now? Such things may not have been exceptable for children to discuss. Perhaps they came from that awful time of 'children should be seen and not heard' Now, we are lucky to be able to be open with our own children, if you have children and let them know that their minds and thoughts are valuable.
I hope you choose to work this out for the positive. Peace.

Take care,

Karen

Im 14 now, and they are in their 30's.They were only in their late 20's whrn this happened.

Dear Ocean Grace (I love your name)... and when you say the ocean calls, etc. I always think about putting a sea shell to your ear and listening to the ocean. Such a nice thought.

Now, back to your question. First of all, your folks are very typical of most parents thinking when a child comes up with something "off the wall". They think it's the child's imagination, that they are making it up, that they are lying, etc. Hey, even very famous doctors, psychologists and neurologists think when a child remembers a past life or talks about extraordinary things it is due to an over-active imagination or too much TV.
So, don't worry, your parents were acting like most people.

On this board, you will find people who are open to what their children say, and try and understand if their child is talking about a past life. Maybe, more and more people will become open to the idea of reincarnation and can help their children, each other, and themselves.

But, don't expect your parents to, because they have been raised in a conservative western tradition. Please don't be angry with them or hold it against them. That's just the way they are.

You are very lucky to recover some of your past life, so dont let anger at your parents destroy it for you. Just read what people on this board have to say, and there are a lot of ideas for helping a person recover his pastlife memories.

Best of love on your journey,

love, barbara

Dear Karen and Barbara,
Thank you for your inputs.Your probably right.I will not let my anger at the past issues get in my way of recovering more memories.

Dear Ocean,
You see, you needed to have a 'weird aunt' like me. My niece and nephew had parents who never opened up to anything 'abnormal', i.e.: baseball, television, dinner, (you know, the staples of life.)
If you need someone to talk about past lives I'm here, at least quite often, or you can e-mail me.
You know most of my best past life memories came later in this life, but I do remember seeing people who no one else saw when I was little. My father never believed me. He's 76 now and he's finally opening up. He actually watches Sylvia Browne on Montel, so there may be hope for your folks in the future.

Ocean Grace-
I know exactly how you feel. when I was little I used to talk about my past lives and my mom told me to stop because it scared her. I am 15 now, and I can somtimes remember a little but not much. I remember after my mom telling me not to talk about it I dreamed about it. I ws never scared when I dreamed about drowning. and when I talked about it I was never scared either and I think that is what scared my mom, because she didn't know if it had happened in the pst or if it was going to happen.
I really wish my parents hadn't stopped me from talking about it, because I feel like there is a piece of me missing, that I can no longer remember. I want to remember everything I can, because I think it would help me except myself better.
I would really like to "talk" to you about your memories, because I have never known anyone close to my age with the same experiences.
